Bucks Fizz mark 25 year anniversary of coach crash

On Saturday 12th December, The Original Bucks Fizz will return to the city of Newcastle, UK to perform one of the most special concerts of the band's history. It will mark the 25th anniversary of the near fatal coach crash that devastated the Eurovision Song Contest winners. The concert will take place at Newcastle City Hall, the venue that they played before boarding the coach on that fateful night.

Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston, 'The Original Bucks Fizz' will perform a full concert, complete with live band, dancers and screen projection, as well as several costume changes. The band will make the emotional return to the venue of their last concert before the life changing events on the night of 11th December 1984. The concert starts at 19.30, tickets are priced at £21 and are available from Ticketline here.

The band have just completed a ten date tour and this latest date is certain to have haunting memories for band members and fans alike. Tickets have been donated to The Variety Club as well as people working at the two hospitals that battled to look after the band and others on the coach that were injured in the crash when the official tour bus careered headfirst into an oncoming lorry.

Bucks Fizz became an international household name after capturing victory at the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest in Ireland. The band became the United Kingdom's fourth winners, and their song Making your mind up became one of the biggest selling songs of the year, topping the charts all over the world. A string of hits and albums followed and the band were at the peak of their success when the accident happened.

I love them so much. They made me dream when I was a teenager. They're probably the Eurovision winners that I've loved the most after their victory. And well done for donating the money from thoses concerts !
