Alexander sings Fairytale in Russian in Moscow!
Alexander Rybak conquered Europe in May when he won the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow with his song Fairytale. He mesmerised the European audience into awarding him the grand prix with their votes, and thus achieving a landslide victory. Alexander gave Norway its 3rd Eurovision trophy.
Russia gave 12 points to Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest, thus showing Alexander's growing popularity in this year's Eurovision host nation. Alexander is enjoying fame and success both in Norway and Europe thanks to his Eurovision performance and victory. He has released a Russian version of Fairytale titled Skazka which he performed recently in Moscow much to the audience's and viewer's delight.

Yes, I clearly remember all of those flags being waved when Isabelle Aubret won it in 1962.
@Chef d'Orchestre, when there was live music that "idiots" waving thei r flags and was enthousiastic, so u r excuse is out of order

Indeed, it is no music contest at all. The last time there was live music in Eurovision was in 1998. So perhaps Eurovision needs those idiots waving their flags in the front row to divert attention from the fact that, musically speaking, there's nothing happening.
That would be gr8! 
The Russian language is hard to learn, but it's beautiful also!

Sorry guys but National flags has nothing to do with homosexual protests in Russia before ESC . Maybe Russians ban Gay flags but i doubt if they ban National flags, beacuse if they ban National flags in stadium then EBU should stop them, its simple , people didnt use too much the flags this year beacuse people in arena was cold ! If the majority around just sitting and wach without to to act quietly during the song and especially after each song then the others feel unconfurtable to react with the way they wont beacuse if they do they will feel stupids.

I remember I read on esctoday some weeks before May that Channel 1 DID have some rules regarding the use of flags. I think it was during the time when pro-homosexual organizations wanted to protest in Moscow or smt.. but still, the Russian flag was ofc not banned, which imo could've been more used among the Russian fans during the ESC final this year Tbh I don't think I saw a single Russian person waving a Russian flag haha 
The Greeks totally won in the competition on waving flags the most LOL

@Ozi and on May Russian audience ( who was the majority ) was very cold !! Did u saw during the songs and after each song finish the people in stadium do be enthousiastic with flags shaking and to act quietly like previous ESC ? Beacuse the Russians was completly cold people from other countrey didnt feel confortable to enjoy with happiness the whole contest. Just see ESC videos from this year and also previous years and u will find a huge differents. In Russia only 3 -4 flags was shaking and previous years 10000 flags !

I agree this audience look so bored out their heads lol... why go to something like this if you are not going to make the most of it by having fun and being happy?
guys, it was a day of russian police (we call it Militsia).. the concert was in honor of this day... and the audience was mainly of police officers and other state authorities delegates... well you know they are old serious people with no emotions... such concerts are used to be performed as a soviet style events and always boring...
as for russian version i liked it, though i'm also tired of this song

Perhaps that was the reason why I liked this year's Eurovision better than those of the years before: hardly any morons in the front rows frantically waving their flags and behaving like 10 year old girls.
Also, this is a good version of the song.
Cultural evening is different than Eurovision madness, which is sometimes unreasonable. I wish I would see the old times live.
what a cold audience same happen and in ESC on may , the audience wasnt enthousiastic like in others ESC's , just see the videoclips , no flags no entousiastic audiens nothing nothing nothing ! It was the coldiest ESC ever !

I've seen this in many Russian clips. I guess they are all bored oligarch-millionairs and their young wives, who sees all these shows dozens of times so they no longer care.
You could also see these type of people in the front rows on Eurovision in Moscow. They are all so bored without any feelings what so ever. But it is really hilarious to watch it.
For Rybak´s sake I do hope the audience and the performance shots were mixed up, because I think this is one of his best performances vocally tbh. Even though i´m not really loving the russian version. Maybe I would if I wasnt so very sick of this song...

the thing is that in russia the stage shots and the audience shtos are normally mixed up in editing, i.e. the audience you see hear didn´t react like that to ribak's performance... most probably, a dozen of audince shots were made before or after the event, due to production costs, and then just screwed up there... i worked in it in moscow
and one more thing, the song sounds weird to me, though i'm russian
I wonder why the crowd looks miserable?? if he went to Turkey and sang that song in any language i can guarantee the crowd would be moving (young and old) us turks always look for an excuse to dance anyway
I remember watching on TV when 50 Cent came to the Turkish version of Deal or No Deal to play for charity and there were little old turkish ladies in the audience doing their thing to his music 
even though some of them might have not heard that kind of music before in their life
Despite the lack of enthusiasm fron the audience I love the Stage!! They know how to make awesome looking stages!!!
