When they were singing in French

Some days ago in Germany, A CD album was released on Sony Music with all the songs recorded in French by Mary Roos between 1972 and 1975.

Amour Toujours – its title – includes 21 songs, 18 being released in CD for the very first time. In a nice booklet, journalist (and Eurovision specialist) Jan Feddersen gives a lot of information on Mary Roos’ French career.  The CD has the French version of Nur die Liebe lässt uns leben Nous – with which the German artist placed 3rd at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest.

None of Gigliola’s two Eurovision songs are to be found on these records, but there is the 1966 Italian entry, Mon Dieu comme je t’aime (Dio come ti amo), with which Gigliola and Domenico Modugno won the San Remo festival, the later travelling to Luxembourg to represent the country.

Gigliola Cinquetti is my childhood hero, and still she has a special place in my heart as a real artist. AND ITALY SHOULD DEFINITELY PARTICIPATE
