This Friday, in Beautiful people
Dana International playing her own role on BBC 2
Beautiful people is a British comedy drama television series based on the memoirs of BarneysSimon Doonan. The first of six episodes were aired on BBC Two on 2 October 2008. The second series began Friday, November 13, 2009. The flashbacks in the second series are set in 1998.
This week’s episode plot is listed as "Debbie's millinery choices lead Simon to recall his visit to the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest, a very odd dinner with his parents' gaybours (gay neighbours) and a meeting with Dana International in a disabled toilet. Warning: contains euro-pop."

Once a DIVA , ALWAYS DIVA!
proud of you!
From Israel =] !
I saw last night's episode on BBC iPlayer last night - it was brilliant, very observant, really kept to the real Eurovision spirit.
I can't wait to get the Beautiful People Series 1 DVD, and I'll be getting Series 2.
Dana,we love uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Dana the Diva...Love her, wanna see her on the stage again
That was absolutely brilliant... Dana was a star and it taught me a few euro-facts too! XD
How ironic......
I live here, and until 45 minutes ago I'd never heard of this show.
It seems like fun though, and I liked the use of original footage
Dana was great in it as well, but I thought the two boys were just strange...
And the mum - wasn't she in Tracy Beaker?

Well you can tell Jonathon Harvey when you see him next time he owes me a pint, as ive bought Gimme Gimme Gimme series 1-3 and Beautiful people series 1! I really hope he does another series after this, it would be a shame if he didn't!!!
jonathan is a great writer and a really nice bloke, he also writes for coronation street, and you can tell which episodes he has done without even seeing his name, he is a huge fan of eurovision ive seen him at many bars that have showed eurovision
Dana!
This programme is so funny, if a bit cringe worthingly camp. I must admit though i do love the series it is so funny, and very different to anything ie seen before! I have the first series on DVD and i must have worn it out. It should be great tonight to See Dana in it , and i am not unwholy suprised though as Jonathon Harvey the write has admitted before he is a huge fan of the Eurovision. Hence in gimme gimm gimme his potrayal of Bucks Fizz in the "Dirty Thirty" episode. Also, the first series of Beautiful people played Katrina and the Waves song "Love shine a light" with further reference to "taping the Eurovision Song Contest", with the UK hosting in 1998, im not suprised to see Jonathon Harvey writing about it! It's a greatand funny show, even if i must be the first to admit i really need to get a life LOL!!! Cant wait for this tonight now!!!
OMG.. I LOVE this series.
One of the best British productions ever imo!
OMG!!!!!! I love this show, cannot wait for tonight!!!!!
I hope im home in time to watch it...going to see Twilight: New Moon. This episode looks like it's going to be funny. The first series was hysterical
I saw the first series of this sitcom last year. It was brilliant. The writer is Jonathan Harvey, who also wrote Gimme Gimme Gimme, the film Beautiful Thing and I believe a Eurovision play that debuted in the West End in the 90s. Gimme Gimme Gimme was ridiculously camp, yet brilliant and so was Beautiful People last year. There were a few mentions in the last series of Eurovision related jokes when the family it centres on lived in Reading in 1997, at the time of Katrina, New Labour and the death of Princess Diana. I'm looking forward to watching tommorrow's episode.
I've never watched this show before, but I will certainly be watching tomorrow
Here it is, for people outside UK ! http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=8Mi-fl14two
From what I've seen it's dreadful, but at least a joy to see Dana.
