123 entries received
Malta: National final on 20th February
For 2010, Malta proceeds with a new selection method rather similar to the one used in 2009 but with a few less heats. 123 songs were submitted to the Maltese broadcaster this time, considerably less than last year due to the fact that PBS rules allowed only one song per singer this year. Foreign songwriters were also excluded (last year participation was allowed for composers from countries where Maltese songrwriters would also have the opportunity to compete).
Out of the 123 entries, an international jury will select 36 on 2nd, 3rd and 4th December. Three days later, the qualifiers will be called once more to perform in front of a different jury this time. Afterwards, and for six consecutive weeks, the semi finalists will perform in sets of six on the weekly TV show show L-Isfida. A mixture of the jury vote and the televote will decide which 20 entries will make it to the final.
The Maltese national final will be held on 20th February and the country's next representative for the Eurovision Song Contest will be selected by televote and jury vote at a 50/50 split.

@KenanO :
Thank you for the compliments you gave Malta! I am so glad you liked it.. I believe that if Lawrence Gray is chosen, Malta will have a good chance of winning Eurovision!!! He has a fantastic voice. It would be so exciting if our "Sunny country" could host it! The Maltese are excelent organisers!!
Good luck for the coming year, Malta !
You had a emotional and beautiful ballad in Moscow. Chiara is a great singer.
I do hope that Lawrence Gray will be representing Malta this year. He has such an extraordinary voice!!
I'd like to see Malta winning one day but please without chiara
Malta is a very beautiful country.
I was there and I hope one day, Malta will win Eurovision and they can host it very nice in their 'Sunny Country'.
Anyone but Chiara and Fabrizio Faniello !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Daniel Muscat: Good luck!
hope i manage to make it to the final night. Im sure that my song will be a totally new style in the national final if i'll be able to make it
rnb ballad just to give you a small hint
Yey! A national final - I am happy. I just hope the songs are better than they were this year!
I m realy Chiara's fan but not Fabrizio Fanielo, i realy dont whant Chiara to participate in ESC in near future ( for her good ) maybe after 6 -8 years, and for sure i dont like to see her in up tempo song and not beacuse of her weight but beacuse her voise is much better in strong Balands , only in good strong ballands we can hear how wonderfull voise have that woman .
Good Luck Malta for 2010
Real talent is never outdated!!! It shines forever. About the style of the song we just have to wait and see... I heard That Lawrence Gray (not Grey) has a real knockout this year...I can't wait to hear it!!
I want Fabrizio Faniello BACK!! The only times I liked Malta in Eurovision were in 2001 and 2006. Fabrizio ROCKS!!! I'm not a Chiara fan, sorry.
attractive or not this is a SONG CONTEST not a model contest i suppose!
Yeah but you know Alibi X, over here they want Barbie dolls, singing not important, as long as the picture is perfect..... Very sad. But that's what the world is about these days, fake, perfect looking people.
axel
that's what makes chiara so special. she is what she is. as i said before in malta people adore her not just for the voice but for what she is. this explains it all.
as u rightly said, she does not need to follow the rules of some miserable, backstabber, anorexic bimbo
I must admit I absolutely adore bigger people in general...more fun, less scrupules, more fun,... At least they don't follow the general rules written by a perrfect society. You have to be slim, blond, big boops,.... Also bigger singers have very often better voices .... Chiara I love you sweetheart, for what you are, a lovely, nice, sweet, good singer,... don't listen to all that crap, be yourself and enjoy.....
MILAN
and ur ears too!!
@Alexander
I'm sure that local seismological stations would register that...
(Sorry, I couldn't resist...)
You guys obviously have something against older singers.
Funny how nobody complained against Patricia Kaas, when she's 1) much older and 2) quite old-fashioned songwise.
Of course Chiara should try another time, just not with the same type of ballad. I want to hear an uptempo song by her.
I hope Malta to do well with whoever...young or old..... Malta is one of those little countries that came close quite a few times with rteally good songs (Sometimes Chiara Angel, Ira Losco) with much better songs than the winners that year. They take the contest serious and deserve a victory.
It would be so funny to see Malta compete with another outdate singer like Lawrence Grey. Chiara can't really be serious about taking part again? It would be a eurovision joke!
I really hope to see Malta do well with a good song and a young, attractive singer. Good luck!
I felt sure that Chiara would have her worst result this year, although not quite as bad as it turned out. I liked her previous entries but I think she should leave it to others now, it looks a bit desperate and embarrassing if artists keep coming back again over and over again.
bad image for sure........... can u explain to me why pls?
hi everybody what is happeining i malta is bad mage for sure
oor chiara
by th way looking to meeting people from russia, romania , bulgaria , montenegro or even malta to have contact and to speak about esc
email to aceofbaseswedenarrobahotmaildo cccom(you can understan yeah?)
thanks a lot
i agree about lawrence gray's golden voice, but is he really fit to take part in esc at this day and age? very musical voice and his style is outdated, but who knows?
i do hope pamela claudia eleonor come out with a great song....
Can you imagine, Chiara trying a fourt time next year or the year after..... get's a bit rediculous. There must be more and even better talent ...... Although I absolute love Chiara, but her last wentry did not do it, for me personally. I absolutely hated that song
