after the success of 2009 edition i was sure he was going to be the HoD for Oslo as well. I hope they choose an experienced and well known artist to represent France. Someone who sings contemporary music please.
I would like to see Sandrine (2002) again in the contest.
I wanna Westlife to represent Ireland!!!!
I do not know why but If Either, France, Russia, The UK, Ireland or Sweden missed a ESC contest It would not feel the same at all....
France did try hard in 2009 - 8th
The UK also tried - 5th
Russia was the host and did okay worst result in a while
..
But
Ireland - Deserved to make the Final and I would have predicted around 15th place, but I'm waiting for a famous Irish artist to bring the country back into the way things were in the 90's
Sweden - Awful in more ways than one, had a gem in the MF, Sarah Dawn Finer and instead sent Malena.. she was okay but wea never going to win. She achieved my prediction anyway 20th or below. Sweden need to do the same as Ireland and remember the 90's both countries were by far the best countries of that decade
Woo !
Thank goodness France has announced it will be there in Oslo.
I think its time for another Sandrine/Natasha type song. Love a good old French ballad
This man has a tough job I should think, trying to maintain interest in a country not know for its love of ESC lately. I think he's done a decent job. The man always seems willing to talk and explain is actions, which is certainly a credit to him.
I can't say I love the choice of the French...
@ Togravius
haha, there's nothing wrong with pretentious
to Martin Maillot and Thome Laurent
well I din't say something rude about Mr Berbere..I just think he hasn't been able to bring french entries where they should have gone for the last yeras...and that he had enough possibilities as a head of delegation to prove that he is the right one to prepare France for eurovision..which he couldn't prove because all songs since 2003 could have done better if there had been a real concept behind...
As head of delegation he is indeed a part reponsible of the catastrophic selection in 2006, he was the one who first was surprised during the rehaersal in 2004 and 2008 that the globes didn't suit to the performance of jonthan cerrada and that playbacks chorus was not allowed. for Sebastien Telleir..He let Ortal going out alle the week before the final in 2005...and she should have rest to be fit on the final....etc...there could be so many exemple to show that as a head of delegation HE WASN'T THERE..and as a chief of delegation he should have been aware of all this
he might be regognised as a big manager...I don't doubt about this..but that is exactly what I said...he should just do his own buisness and let someone else working full time for french eurovision selection....
I'm happy that Monsieur Berberes stays, I hope there'll be another internal selection, but please NO national finals ! Moreover, I would like a real powerful song just like in 2001 and 2002, and if it's not a ballad, I wouldn't say no... ;-)
Good Luck France
Well, nowdays almost everyone complains about even good things. It's cool and people think they are unic and so intelligent like this
lol
About Bruno, I think lots of people forget that he was, for ex. last year, one of the jury members in Melodifestivalen and also in the pre-selection. He is a big music manager in France and he has found some well-known singers etc.
So, there's no doubt and discussion whether he's the right man for ESC or not and if he knows enough about ESC. He knows more than several other HoD's and more than we know here.
If some french entries were technically bad, it's not his fault. We all know why some ESC hosts showed rather the wall then the french participant, just to make sure that France wont win this time either.
Concerning the selection, Berberes is not the only one to make the decision, it's up to France3 and Berberes has not been pleased by it every time.
However, during some years already, this has though changed and we have seen Bruno wrapping some well-known artists to ESC.
Liam
Thanks, I can live with pretentious. Silly would be different ...
i am sad to read such rude comments about Bruno Berberes, because he has done no harm. If there is someone who really should leave the ESC world, it is Svante Stockselius.
I think Monsieur Berbere had his time and chance, and should go now, as I think France 3 should have someone who works the whole year on eurovision and not half time between October and May..since 2004, the team of Mr Berbere has made many mistakes although they were mostly good songs, the french participants have never been well prepared to the final, lots of technical problems (Ortal being better at the french selection than in the eurovision final, the globes in 2004, the chorus in 2008, the fiasco from 2006 about peope selecting a singer without heating which song this singer is going to sing. etc....all this shows that Mr Berbere doesn't know all eurovision rules and has no idea about how to prepare the french candidates to eurovision ...he seems never to learn from his mistakes from the past...and I think someone eles should take his place now...Thank you Bruno, you ve had your time, now do something for your country and go ..
N. Leroy for France!!
@ togravius
I agree with you mostly, but everything you write on here makes you look like the most pretentious person on this site
Jonny Stovner: 2005 and 2006 was bad, but then he managed to get big names like Sebastien Tellier and Patricia Kaas to particepate in 2008 and 2009
Im sure he will manage to get another big and sucsessful musican to particepate in 2010!!
Good luck Bruno!!!
@ togravus
I (nearly) totally agree with you: only songs in 2004, 2006 and 2007 were weaker.
My humble opinion: France has sent good to decent entries every year 2001 to 2009. 2001, 2002, 2003, 2008, and 2009 are in my top 5, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 in my top 10. France never sent crappy shake it stuff, half naked girls that cannot sing, or embarrassing novelty acts. A lot of class, quality, and variety from our Western neighbours. Merci!!! In fact, I think that Sébastian Tellier performed the most intelligent (or perhaps intellectual, which isn't the same thing ...) entry of the decade. I am glad that Bruno stays for another year! Keep up the good work. Quality and authenticity are more important than success ... at least for me ...
This man brought Patrica Kaas, one of the biggest ESC stars in history, to Eurovision.
Yes, he's good and he can make wonders for France.
Love this guy
@ Martin: If he hasn't succeeded in the last 8 years, how is he going to make the French care about the ESC again?
I can assure you that in France the ESC is ONE BIG JOKE. Nobody cares about it, and especially not France Télévision. The best proof of that is that they have once again nominated as head of their delegation ... you know who!
This man is great!!!! I think he is the man who can make the french start caring about Eurovision again
France will never do well again (= top 3) until this man is removed.
