The 2009 esctoday.com National Final Award for BEST ACT ELIMINATED IN A SEMI FINAL, QUARTER FINAL OR HEAT goes to...
- ...Surferosa with their song U look good from the Norwegian national selection
Surferosa was formed in 2000. The band consists of Mariann Thomassen, Andreas Orheim, Henrik Gustavsen, Kjetil Wevling and Sigurd Løvik. They debuted in the album charts with Shanghai My Heart (2003) and since then have also released The Force (2005) and The Beat on the Street (2008). The have toured internationally with mainstream bands such as The Killers and Turboneger. With U look good, they qualified for the second chance round, where they lost the second duel to Espen Hana.

This award was given out for the first time, and it was a close decision between the top five. The complete results were as follows:
- Norway - 26.7%
- Riika with Meren (Finland) - 21.5%
- BWO with You're not alone (Sweden) - 18.8%
- Besa Kokedhima with Nothin' gonna change (Romania)- 16.8%
- Gergana Dimova with Yasno slantse (Bulgaria) - 16.2%

The Swedish national selection was held over six weeks. After four semi finals and second chance round, the final was held with eleven acts competing.

This is already the fourth time that this award goes to Sweden. However, despite achieving respectable 53.9% of the votes, this is still the lowest percentage for the Swedish national final in these awards. Norway came in second place followed by the United Kingdom. The complete results were as follows:
- Sweden - 53.9%
- Norway - 17.5%
- United Kingdom - 11.4%
- Portugal - 8.0%
- Denmark - 7.8%

Yesss! SVT did it again! Of course, Melodifestivalen is the best preselection of ESC! I'm very glad, because I saw the genrep of the final of this fabulous show in Globen! And I'm not from Sweden - I'm from Latvia!
MF deserved to win over Norway

I actualy traveled to the final of the MF where I watched ours on TV..
But we had the best song

Suferosa was great!!!! Luckily she is back for 2010!!!

Still everyone underrate the other countries too much. Macedonia, Croatia... they had several great songs for instance.
Just give the rest of the awards, it's all for norway and sweden afterall, no surprise...

Denmark wasn't last. There were lots of finals who weren't even nominated.

Of course MF is great fun to watch, and the production standards are very high. But this year was weak compared to other years. Norway was so much better. MF is the most watched national final here on esctoday. (Of course I can't proof that, but I am pretty sure about that I am right.) And because of that MF has won this award again. But this year not because they deserved.

I heard that Mariann Thomassen[leader of Surferosa] submited song to Melodi Grand Prix. I would be nice to see her in Oslo
