With the song Hollow

Peter Jöback, third Melodifestivalen wildcard

Peter Jöback has been chosen by Swedish broadcaster SVT as the third wildcard for the 2010 Melodifestivalen. The singer is to enter the competition with a song called Hollow, composed and penned by Anders Hansson and Fredrik Kempe.

The name of Peter Jöback has been revealed today at the culture news programme on SVT. Peter is not a newcomer to Melodifestivalen, since he participated in the national competition back in 1990 with the song En sensation. You can visit his website here .

The producer of the 2010 Melodifestivalen, Christer Björkman, stated that "Peter is the artist that I have tried to persuade most to participate. He is a super professional who always delivers the highest international level. I'm very proud that he finally would like to express his artistry in the Melodifestivalen".

Hollow, the title of his song, has been composed and penned by Anders Hansson and Fredrik Kempe.  Anders Hansson has participated four times previously as the author of Alcastar in 2005, sung by Alcazar, and Gone the same year, and the BWO entries Temple of love (2006) and Lay your love on me (2008). anders has also appeared on the Melodifestivalen stage, in 1989 as backing vocalist to Lili & Susie with Okey Okey and in 2008 with Love Love Love. This year, Anders enters two songs to Melodifestivalen: Hollow and Tonight.

Fredrik Kempe became known to the Melodifestivalen public in 2004, when he sang Finally. In 2005 he made it to the final with Du och jag mot världen, co-written with his musical partners Henrik Wikström and Bobby Ljunggren. In 2007, he entered three contributions to Melodifestivalen: Cara Mia, Rainbow Star and Vågar du, vågar jag. In 2008, he co-wrote the winning entry Hero, sung by Charlotte Perrelli. In 2009, Frederick composed four songs: Hope and Glory, You're Not Alone, Moving On and La Voix. This year, Frederick participates with Hollow and Manboy.

I think Neil Hannon would be very proud of that version of Absent friends!

it't not 100 % clear it is Fredrik kempe who wrote this song.... fredrik denys it, and I don't think it's fredrik either. Peter jöback has one of the most beautiful voice in Europe ... BUT his songs are quiet boring :S But he is very very well knows in Sweden, so he have a big fan scale.

Hej! There is the best preselection for the ESC in your country! Don't say bad words about Melodifestivalen! I'm not gay, but I love your Melodifestivalen for the best stile of pop-music - swedish schlager! ABBA format schlager! I'm coming to Sweden specially to visit the final of MF! My country (I'm from Latvia) did good results with songs? written by swedes!

If you read the words Peter said about this song, you just know, that this song is not schlager - this song is ballad!

Good luck for Sweden in Oslo! I hope, that ESC will stay in Scandinavia!

Kempe has written the song that Peter is going to perform...hmmm, probably more cheese again then, and going by his photo, think he might camp it up a bit!! I hope though it turns out to be a decent song instead of the usual schlager...fingers crossed :D

Peter Jöback is a very popular man in Sweden, so I think he's one to watch in this year's Melodifestival. But I must say, if our dear neighbours end up sending a third song by Fredrik Kempe (in a row!) he'd better pray for a better result than 18 or 21! Otherwise I'm afraid they'll chop his head off.

My country will fail big time in 2010.

I think with these lousy elections we don't deserve to qualify.

We have so much great music in this country but for MF is controlled by the schlager mafia who only care what will work in local gay clubs and not in Eurovision. They have no sense of what would be cool or fresh or modern or whatever.

:(

The problem is not Swedish music, it's the people who controls MF.

I hope the new wildcar will be Lena Ph or Alcazar, my two swedish favorite artists!!!

Great news about Alcazar - they are really great artists and their Stay the night got my 144 points!

It's look like Pernilla Wahlgren will sing Jag vill om du vågar and I hope to hear her name on Monday!

I'm really glad that Peter Jöback is taking part. I am really curious about the song :) But, like Tyler A. said, SVT seems to be on a male craze. There won't be any female wildcards? Let's hope that the next wildcard will be Pernilla Wahlgren, Lena Ph or Sarek.

@New in Town
I AGREE! Except, there is still a little hope in a few of the artists like Kalle, Pain of salvation, Espinosa.

But seriously, Peter Jöback is the slickest, most gayish, fakest-plastic-teeth man ever and he is singing a song written by KEMPE and a guy behind Alcazar and BWO????!?!!!!!? It is BOUND to suck.

MF just rarely picks artists I like - that's the problem for me. Sweden has so much better music than this.

@Stockholm calling
Alcazar? Again? :( :@ And he wrote Agnes' songs too?? Then I am even more sure I won't like this song. :(

I guess my hopes for having Sofia Jannok as one of the wildcards won't be realized being that there is only one wildcard left to announce and SVT seem to be on a male craze.

alcazar again ? don't they get it already ? their songs are old and boring and they can't really dance. The typical shlager fag or fan votes for them enough to make them do ok in MF but they will never win so move on already !

Apart from "Love love love" Anders Hansson also wrote "Release me", "On and on", "I need you now" and the rest of the songs on Agnes's "Dance Love Pop" album :)
Will Agnes sing his entry "Tonight" I wonder.

As long as he doesnt do schlager I think this entry will be good. I usually really like his songs. :)

I think I'll like this entry,
I know I need to wait for the song, but it's written by Hanson and Kempe ( usually great songs :) ) and his voice is very very great :D
(and he looks very good too )

@ Ronny-Norway - Of course, cause the don't recognice camp and crappy songs?! How else could Kempe win two times in a row. Hopfully this Hansson guy can reduce the typical Kempe cr*p in the song.

Possible winner, without even hearing the song. But do the Swedes dare to send another entry by Kempe after to unfortunate results?

I have to honestly say that I don't like any of the wildcards, and it's only one left.

I don't wanna be negative, but I think this MF will be really bad with a bad winner aswell. Nothing sounds promising. None of the artists or anything.

Christer Björkman and his schlager mafia needs to leave finally, they have no sense of what could work or anything.
