On stage in Estonia
Maarja-Liis Ilus as Evita
The musical will be played three more times at the Nokia Kontserdimajas this December, 18, 19 and 20. 17 other dates are scheduled in the first half of 2010, including some in Tartu. Evita was composed by Andrew Lloyd Weber and written by Tim Rice back in 1976 and gained a world-wide fame even before being played on stage thanks to the song Don’t cry for me Argentina.
Maarja-Liis Ilus first represented her native country Estonia in 1996, in duet with Ivo Linna. singing Kaelakee hääl. They placed 5th. The year after, Maarja once again won the national selection, this time alone with the song Keelatud maa and she ended on the 8th position. Since then, the lady tried her luck at the Swedish and Estonian finals.

Why hate? Estonia didn't gave any points to Turkey in 2003, to Greece in 2005 and to Serbia in 2007, but she gave points to Romania in 2006 ( 4 points ), to Azerbaijan in 2008 ( SF1 4 points ), to Azerbaijan ( 7 points ), to Georgia in 2007 ( 5 points ), to Georgia in 2008 ( 5 points ), ...!
Her version of HRH really made me appreciate that song. Even though it won with a record (at the time) number of points, I still consider it one of the most underrated winners ever.

Don't worry, the eastern-balkan countries have plenty of diaspora voters just waiting to vote for them, so it doesn't matter what Estonia does.
And as for "Molitva" I think personally it never deserved victory anyhow.
As for Maarja, I really liked both her 90's entries. Those were two of Estonia's best entries ever.
Estonia hates Eastern Balkans countries:
zero to Turkey and 'Everyway that I can'
zero to Greece and 'My Number one'
zero to Serbia and 'Molitva'
ETC...
Good luck to Eesti
I like her !!! Good luck !!!
Maarja is a wonderful performer, one of Estonia's best
She has a fine live voice, which is essential in this role. Good to see Marko also enjoying continued success!
