First heat in Ørland
First seven artist names revealed in Norway
For the first heat in Ørland will see seven artists take to the stage and some familiar names are amongst these.
Song 1: Gaute Ormåsen - Synk eller svøm (Sink or swim)
The 26 year old runner-up of the Norwegian Idol in 2003 is the only one singing in Norwegian in this heat. He has written the song together with Laila Samuelsen and Kim Bergseth. He has released three successful albums and also danced on the TV show Skal vi danse (Norway’s answer to Strictly come dancing). It is his first time in the Melodi Grand Prix (MGP)
Song 2: Lene Alexandra – Prima Donna
The 28 year old Lene Alexandra Øien has written the dance track Prima Donna with Jarl Aanestad. She already took part in MGP in 2008 with Sillycone valley. She shot to fame in the Norwegian edition of Survivor in 2004. She then started a career in music and also danced on Skal vi danse.
Song 3: Johnny Hide – Rewind love
Johnny became famous in Norway as a member of a successful 90s band Number Seven Deli. The MGP first-timer says his song Rewind love, written by Julian Berntzen is a classic pop song. It is about love and pain, is modern, warm and authentic.
Song 4: Bjørn Johan Muri – Yes man
The 18 year old Idol finalist also makes his MGP debut. He describes his song Yes man, written by himself with Simone Larsen and Simen Eriksrud as synth based pop song with drum machines. He has been working hard in the two years since his Idol-participation, and for example sang the Norwegian version of the theme tune to Disney film Camp Rock, This is me, with Tomine Harket, daughter of Morten.
Song 5: Elizabeth Carew – Rocketfuel
The 24 year old R’n’b artist has had three self-penned hits since the 2008 breakthrough Destructive. Her song Rocketfuel is in the same style and co-written with Thomas Eriksen. She says she will be freestyling half of the song. She admits having been a fan of Eurovision in her younger years.
Song 6: Maria Haukaas Storeng – Make my day
The 30 year old returns to MGP as a singer after a very successful performance in Belgrade 2008. Last year she was on stage as the co-host of MGP. She became known to the Norwegian public in 2003 via Idol. Her song this time is called Make my day and is written by Merethe La Verdi and Mats Lie Skåre and is described as mid-tempo.
Song 7: Keep Of Kalessin – The Dragontower
Norway introduced metal to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 with Wigwam. Next year they will go a step further with black metal group Keep of Kalessin. The Trondheim based band started in 1994 under the name Ildskjær. The fantasy-inspired entry The Dragontower is written by bandmembers Arnt Obsidian Grønbech, Torbjørn Schei, Vegar Larsen and Robin Isaksen. They don’t think metal fans will accuse them of selling out by taking part in MGP. The band has written material for other artists, films and commercials.
This first heat will take place on 8 January 2010 in Ørland.

And also: I am not a slampa !
@Marky
For the last time: My boobs are real..! x)
It looks like a good set of people, ofc. It'll all depend on the songs, which I do hope are good again

Apparently Lene Alexandra has had her boobs removed a bit, and our very own Stiney, has used them
Recycling in Norway
They have swapped roles, although Stiney was a bit of a slampa before too, I say a bit, I mean a lot
So I hope Lene will be good, she was entertaining in 2008
Maria is becoming the new Chiara, Carola, Elisabeth isn't she
I hope her song is even better than Hold On And Be Strong, otherwise I'd hate for her to enter again, but trying 3 times in a row does seem a bit deseperate, or she's just a crazy looney like us all here
Anyway, I really want her to be amazing again
when a singer does great in esc and in their first round around in MF they keep trying to come back again and again and again.. Maria is the new Elisabeth? Look at them, each time they do ok in Norway they keep hoping to win Melodifestivalen : what's so wrong with just Norway's great - if not sometimes greater than MF - Melodi Grand Prix ?
Anyway I never liked her singing, her boring songs and her horrible performances.. I don't see how that can change with all the fuss typical esc fans make around her. And probably she'll flop this time around, as usual (Ah the pleasure to see Carola beat by Nordman!)
I honestly feel so bad that these names are in the same semi final. That means only 2(?) of them goes directly to the final and 2 goes to the second chance round. Obviously some good names/possibly good songs will not even make it - so sad.
The line-up sounds very strong
I'm also very happy to see Elisabeth Carew in the contest, because her song "Destructive" is great.
"kokorrutmelle kokorrutmelle
Maria is buliding her career now, with sucsess. Dont know why you see it as a bad thing to participate in Eurovision and mgp more then once.
Im very pleased to see Maria back were she belongs!!
wow maria is back
Good luck Maria....hope her song is a good one
Hopefully just as good as or even better than Hold On Be Strong
I'm sad to see Maria again. She did not manage to build acareer after her huge 2008 success
Maybe not on your planet. She's a household name here.
I'm happy to see Lene Alexandra and Maria HS back again, as I thought their songs were excellent the last time. I'm also glad Maria is doing MGP where she is appreciated instead of humiliating herself in that other festival. Keep of Kalessin also sounds like a promising breath of fresh air.
But the male singers... I'm not impressed. Both Gaute and Bjørn Johan came out of Norwegian Idol and they both have horrible personalities and awful voices. Gaute has made some catchy songs in the past, but his screeching voice made them unbearable to listen to. Bjørn Johan is just painful to watch live. He's so shy it looks like he's about to faint any second.
I have no feeling about the others. Could be good or bad, or, most likely, the ones first forgotten.
I'm sad to see Maria again. She did not manage to build acareer after her huge 2008 success and it seems she's got nothing else to do than Eurovision.
And of course Wig Wam aren't metal LOL
Not even Lordi are considered metal.
I'm familiar only with Lene Alexandra and Maria Haukaas Storeng. Both of them are okay, but I'm really curious about other performers.
lol
i love this song from finland.... great harmonica...great music
Heli Kajo - Annankadun Kulmassa :-)
Good Luck Norway for 2010 i have high hopes for you
lene alexandra to eurovision 2010
Wig wam isn't metal !
Gosh! I'm surprised that Maria is back so soon...
Go Keep of Kalessin!
I don't think I ever met a nicer person than Maria..... she's so sweet, down to earth and above all...a real singer. When she came to London, and I went down for one of my numerous sigarettes, she was always there aswell.... lovely to talk to. All the luck in the world to everyone....
Yes it is great to see Maria Haukaas Storeng in the frame again, loved her and the song in 2008 and I just hope she has an even better song this time round. I don't know any of the others but it seems a strong line-up from the comments.
Great to see Maria Haukaas Storeng back again, hope she has a great song
It's nice when people "admit" to having been Eurovision fans in the past isn't it?
Great start
I belive many of you allready know Maria Haukås Storeng are, and maybe you remember Lene Alexandra.
But here are some songs by some of the artists:
Gaute Ormåsen,

Her father is from Gambia but he have lived in Norway for over 3o years, her mother is Norwegian from Lørenskog, just outside Oslo.

I hope Maria do well, she's an excellent singer
"Staff announcement, spillage in aisle 3!"
I didn't expect Maria to be back! I already predict that she along with Keep of Kalessin will go directly to the final without having heard the songs. We'll see eh?
By the way, Wig Wam is NOT metal, they're glam rock! I have heard another song by Keep of Kalessin and frankly any schlager lovers are about to experience their polar opposite.
