Share the moment

Eurovision 2010 theme revealed

The 2010 Eurovision Song Contest already has a theme art and a slogan: Share the moment. The theme depicts a series of spheres representing people gathering together to enjoy a unique moment that is followed by more than 100 million viewers across the continent and beyond.

The theme and slogan have been revealed today at a press conference held in Oslo, the host city for the next Eurovision Song Contest. EBU and host broadcaster NRK main officials were present to inform the press on the latest identity adopted by the Eurovision Song Contest.

Svante Stockselius, executive supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU, praised NRK's capability to carry out the Eurovision preparations speedily and successfully:  "I never saw a host broadcaster being this well prepared at this time of the year", Stockselius stated.

"We want to share the Eurovision Song Contest, rather than just broadcast it", Hasse Lindmo, TV-producer of the contest for NRK explained. "One particular thing that makes the Eurovision Song Contest such a unique event is the fact that it's the only time of the year in Europe that some 125 million people are doing exactly the same thing, at exactly the same time. Whether you're in Iceland or in Armenia, in Portugal or in Finland. Or here in Oslo," Lindmo said.

This is why the motto for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest is Share the moment, and this is closely connected to the visual design, based on a series of spheres that represent gathering people and the diversity of emotions surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest.

The new elements will have a big exposure not only in the Eurovision semifinals and final, but also in all those events to be held in the lead up to the contest, i.e. the allocation draw, the Heads of Delegations meeting in March, welcome reception and parties.

As previously reported, the 2010 visual identity for the Eurovision Song Contest has been created in partnership by the award-winning Norwegian design firms Gosu, Handverk and Snøhetta, based on a detailed brief of NRK.

Ok, I can a see kinda decent visual identity, but wher is the logo? Or is this ball wit h generic logo on it supposed to be it? I mean, I would expect more when 4 allegedly best design agenices of the country collaborate. This one is too generic, we've seen it so many times - especially with cell phones ads.

minus 3 for art work, same for theme...

as far Confluence of sounds (both logo and theme) was mine favorite...
good luck Norway with hosting!!!

I think its cool ... nice and simple and will be easy to create continuity across all aspects of theshow from graphics to colours to the actual stage.
Very exciting

I like the top half of the logo, but I hate the bottom half, it's a bit tacky there. Overall it's a bit meh. What is the exact point in all these slogans and stuff ?? It just seems to be a bit of a waste of money to me, it's not exactly important. Plus don't they just use that really basic logo with like Eurovision Song Contest, with the host countries flag? It would have been nice to have something a bit more creative, having said that I did love the bird from last year :D

Hi Sara, it's nice to see you back here :)

I watch "home and away"...everyday .....it's my favorite series
I'm so sorry! lol

Well, most Australians aren't thrilled by unwelcome visitors like snakes and spiders either :P That's why we live in houses, to keep them out! :P Rolf Løvland? He's written a lot of good songs, but he's also written a few ordinary ones. I wonder how "The Touch" will go?

Chris P :
You love Rolf Lôvland's "stuff"?? (and you have good taste in music toooo)) !! ;) I love aussie boys (but I am scaaared of snakes and spiders).. hehe. :P

Chris P:
My Australian Guy ;) Where have you been ?
I have missed you sweetie !!! :)
Btw. I watch "home and away"...everyday .....it's my favorite series :)

I haven't been on this site in donkeys! Can't believe Eurovision 2010 is as far on already and it ain't even December!

OK so the theme sounds a bit cheesy but I tink that, like Russia, Norway is gonna throw an incredible show - just hope we get some great songs now for a great stage

The image is a bit bland I think. I mean, really, they paid someone to come up with the idea of writing "Eurovision" on a balloon? But I await the finished product. It's not all about the marketing, stage design and themes, but they do help create an atmosphere, so I hope they come up with something nice, that reflects the heritage of Norway, but something a little more sophisticated than a reindeer's antlers making the V in Eurovision :P

@Hektor Sgargapises
Even stereotypes like that would be better than attempting something modern that ends up looking tacky like this.

@The "Fairytale" of the North - Sara ©
Hello again :) How I would love it if Helene participated in ESC! (L) Or at least as part of an interval act - that would be awesome too. :D

I like the theme and its statement but the artistic design of that expression is rather simple and I don't feel like bringing out much expression and message for the first impression. But still, nice job!

Hektor: i expected a more 'nordic' theme and something with ice on the logo or at least something in that direction that reminds me of norway.

There will be northern light, snow and midnight sun on stage in May ;) (at least I hope there will be) :D

I like both the theme and the logo. :) 2010 is going to be the first time I participate in a ESC final live ever! (if I get tickets that is). I'm so excited :D :D

Damn, I was going to write the following on the thread about "Norways song titles and songwriters revealed" but it is closed allready. Too late as always, hehe..

Anyway, great to see Rolf Løvland back in MGP. He has written a lot of good songs. Many of you may not know that it's Rolf Løvland who has written "You raise me up" (not Josh Groban) :P Have you heard the original version of the song (the first public performance)? Here it is: Secret Garden feat Brian Kennedy: http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=UddLOA-QoqM

As for the singers: I would love it if Helene Bøksle would sing Løvland's song in MGP (or at least one of the ballads). She is a Norwegian folk/pop singer with such a beautiful voice.

Just listen....

This is from a Norwegian entertainment TV-show called "Beat for beat" in October:
Some of you may recognize Christine Guldbrandsen sitting next to the pianoplayer.

From the talent show "Kjempesjansen" in 2003. The same show Alexander Rybak won in 2006.
Hejemo og nykkjen - http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=QSEUcIBCbLA

Alexander Stenerud is back too. Yeah! I absolutely loved "Always Always" and "Find my Girl" :) Always Always was my favorite in 2007, but then came Guri (?!?!?)

Maybe Maria Arredondo is singing the song by Christian Ingebrigtsen and A1 cause she has collaborated with Christian before. Maria Haukaas Storeng is definately going to sing this year and I don't think she will sing a Mira Craig song again..so maybe this is the song for her?

Marko: I guess you are a bit happy about Elisabeth Carew participating? hehe... Well, if she wins I bet Norway will get a lot of points from Aston Villa fans, hehe (thats where her brother John Carew plays) ;) John Careeew Careew, his bigger than me and youu" http://www.youtube.c(...)&feature=related
...and this is funny :D http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=EG5-CijHx9Y LOOOL!! :)

Btw. How nice to see that there are some familiar faces here still: Wizzy (so it's triple S this time, hehe), Stine, Marko, (La) Mark, Daniel B, Layla, Johnny D, Paschalis, Lina, Keith, Zohar... and so many more (some of you may have changed nicknames I guess, hmm)... well, I have missed you guys a lot ;)

Haven't been here in a long time, so I'm so sorry about my writing cramps..hehe :P

I dont like the logo :(

But i like the slogan, everyone are we together to make this a fantastic show, and share the moment :)

The colors of the logo is not good, but if we could know more about why they have this colors, maybe we could understand it more.

As Keith Timmons wrote: Perhaps they're doing the pink thing to highlight the difference between Norwegian and Russian LGBT politics. Black, white or pink - you're all welcome here.

Zohar Norwegians have lots of money thanks to the oil...so I guess we'll get more than balloons when there!

Frankly I am suprised that a forward looking modern TV company like NRK could only come up with the moto "Share the moment". It's a bit cheesy and ordinary to say the least. I am sure they could have found something better.

Each year I never like the ESC branding! I always feel it's a bit too camp and colourful. It always looks like the titles for a childrens' TV show. I don't like that the 'themes' have made a return. Share the moment. WTF.

My favourite logo ever has to be 1996. Hosted by Norway, coincidentally!

Continuing on the Coke theme, maybe this slogan from a 1970s advert would be more appropriate, considering some of the performers we get in Eurovision these days:

http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=6mOEU87SBTU

The Coca-Cola thing reminds me of JESC's possible sponsor .. Disney.. :D

Keith Timmons [44873]
Fri 4 Dec 2009 19:54:06

I see how this could work in motion with all the spheres moving like bubbles swirling around in a soft drink, but as a static image it doesn't excite me. And whoever came up with the idea that black, white and pink look good together? Especially with the red white and blue in the middle? That's pretty ... poor taste. Perhaps they're doing the pink thing to highlight the difference between Norwegian and Russian LGBT politics. Black, white or pink - you're all welcome here.

But I agree that this is a pretty cool advertising theme for something like Coca-Cola. Perhaps not so meaningful for Eurovision. But then again, who knows, maybe Coca-Cola will sponsor Eurovision 2010 and all the pieces will fit together in due time.
