More details on the theme art
Tickets sales for Oslo probably in March
Peter Svaar, 30, says that today has been the kick-off for the final planning of a spectacular TV show. We have loads of exciting ideas, that will be very different if we manage to realise them, he tells nrk.no.
It was also revealed that viewing figures for the song contest have dramatically increased in the past few years, from 61 million in 2003 to 122 millions viewers last year, about 20 million more than the American Superbowl.
Examples of the different uses of the artwork can be seen on the NRK website here
Three videos have been released by NRK, that are meant to give a further idea what lies behind the idea behind the theme, or how 125 million people would look like, sharing the moment watching Eurovision. This lead to the slogan and the theme. The planning team also went to YouTube for inspiration and wanted to highlight these three videos as examples of the sort of atmosphere they want to create:
Where the hell is Matt?
Stand by me (Playing for change)
Hibi no neiro
Mr Svaar also mentions the question that will be on many fans' minds that plan to visit Oslo in May, ticket sales: We can't say anything definite about tickets yet. It will depend on things like seating plans etc. We probably will be able to start sales in March.

The theme is very gay. It doesn't disturb me, but what's annoying is that they take the Western European approach and prejudices about Eurovision and make it the whole theme, which I find kind of meh. For me Eurovision is so much more than just a "gay music festival", but with this theme they uses the prejudices.
About the youtube videos. It could be interesting to see what they come up with, as long as they keep it within the Eurovision countries. It would be utterly ridiculous if they'll make little kids in Africa dance to Eurovision classics.
The Matt video is fun but it's also made in a typical naive American look a the world. Notice how they write names of countries and then name of American states as "countries" aswell. It prove that you can travel all the world, but with a naive mindset it won't teach you any lessons.
Oslo is the most expensive city in the world.....
How much my dear! Oslo is generally expensive!
Layla.... lol... well, I guess we don't see eye to eye on these videos ( I know from before that I do not tend to agree with you.. lol).
Let's wait and see what comes next..
impressive videos ! if their spirits will inspire the forthcoming ESC, then I think a new air will blow on the 2010's ESC decade !
"Share the moment" is fine, the logo is the gayest thing ive ever seen. But I dont really care about the theme, its the show that matters anyway.
lmao Mark indeed it is very Agnes, which can only be a good thing ofc
I agree about the motto though, it's a bit generic and meaningless, but oh well, I quite like the rest of the theme
@Knut Viking
I must be cynical because I fail to see how dancing in different places in the world and getting strangers to dance with you just for a video show is "bringing them together". It has nothing to do with music, they just used a song as a "soundtrack" after the videoes were edited together.
Or how (blind) street singers singing an over-covered song brings people together? Most walk past them without any thought.
I guess they could show a natural disaster video too as incidents like that would also "bring people together" just as much and be just as little irrelevant for a SONG contest.
Oh whatever.
We have loads of exciting ideas, that will be very different...
And there my hopes sank even lower.
City flyer is right, it resembles an American globalisation to me. There will be no nationalistic pride from Norway this time it seems, but a giant pink bubbly party for everyone all over the world. It'll be modern, gay and ugly as hell. I feel ashamed already...
Stop complain! Fans are never happy anyway, so this kind of news are waste! NRK shouldnt told anything
If only i was rich and had time to go there.
oh life...
i;m not impressed for now. and don't forget that oslo is one of the most expensive countries in the world. that would be extremely difficult for fans to attend.
Looks like the American dream .....why does NRK look to America for their thoughts on Eurovision 2010. Norway has a rich history and culture that could have been reflected in preparations for Oslo 2010. Instead welcome to the world of American globalisation ...is that what we really want? NRK please think again ...there is still plenty of time.
LTV has reported that participation fees have increased significantly this year. I can't believe it; EBU is really trying to kill the hen with the gold eggs!! Fees raising, tickets raising, all very expensive and luxurious...why?? What's the sense of it just in the middle of a serious financial crisis???
Svante MUST resign!
Layla Al-Magnuna
share the moment xD depends on how u read it.. share the moment when we here eurovision it can be meand.. xD
Well, on the eurovision.net the bubbles comes into use. And they are already growing on me! I guess it is a whole concept that has been chosen, and I am sure this logo is easy to adapt as background, in adverticing, for tv, for banners etc. And it seems like its not always gonna be black/pink/white (which was my main objection).
As for the logo, I still like it. How some people dont see that the videos illustrates how music brings people together (the concept of ESC) - is a bit odd to me...
I think the use of youtube works very well (because lets face it - youtube is another way of bringing millions of people together).
@Jenny Vo
Still, Australia is not Africa. And I see mostly Africans in these videos, lol. And a lot of cheese.
@Johan Svanberg
And it's kinda hard to enjoy something that keeps getting screwed up.
No, I would not like this sentimental crap they got now and I wouldn't like Afghanistan, war etc. I would like something that actually was about the MUSIC which the whole damn contest is about... there is nothing "musical" about this theme to me at all.
Serbia got the best motto for sure. "Confluence of sound". Fitted so much better, was more relevant.
Never said I wasn't happy about ESC being held, I am. But the logo/motto is crap - they could have done a better job than a lot of circles/bubbles which it took 3 agencies to come up with, lol. That's all.
I can see the point of a logo to create a familiar eye-catching image to promote and advertise the contest. But why it can't just have 'Eurovision Song Contest' on it is beyond me. Do we really need a slogan that is more fitting in some advert trying to sell something, which is very often bad for your health, but gives an instant, dare I say it, 'experience' or 'sensation' (as in the silly language used by advertisers)?
I have seen the 'Where is Matt' video before but I never thought that there would be a link to Eurovision. I can't see that these videos have any relevance, showing people in poor countries may be suitable for a fund raising event, but for a hugely expensive contest that has nothing to do with charity?
On a positive note, I'm sure Norway will do a great job hosting the contest. They did a wonderful job in Oslo in 1996. Moscow was technically spectacular, but the stage was a bit oversized, the semifinal presenters were unbearable and the postcards were incredibly tacky, mainly focusing on Miss Russia
i liked the third video most
Jonny
OMG !! Going to the site it's all very Agnes !!
I do like the bubbles, but I don't like the moto, plus I don't see why we need a moto, it doesn't exactly do anything, does it ?
To be honest (judging by reactions in the other article) i'm very surprised the reactions to the theme have been so negative. You get a better idea of it if you go to http://www.eurovision.tv and look at the background, because to me it looks quite professional.
OMG FANS!! Stop complaining! You dont see the good things bout the theme or logo!
You always see ONLY the bad things. Its people like you who ruin the fun and nice thing bout ESC, by blaming ESC and complaing all the time. Be happy ESC will be held and enjoy it.
at Layla Al-Magnuna
be quite, stop complaining and enjoy that they air esc and that they have a theme and motto .
would it be better if they had an intro vid when USA attacks Afghanistan and vids with poor kids in Africa, and the motto is "kill the moment" with art made by H*itler and insted of spreading happy and joy they spread death and pain
I guess more people would like that theme and esc would be broadcast again 2011
well Eurovison jsut isn't for Europe, I live in Australia and I still watch it, just because we aren't eligible to send anything in doesn't mean that Eurovision is STRICTLY for Europe.
Brilliant, their poaching ideas from Youtube
There's clearly some hidden message here that I'm not getting with those videos... Whilst the preliminary sketches and images don't look particularly inspiring, I'm still sure Norway will bring everything together nicely. Or ELSE!!!
Riiiiight, these videos sure give them the right idea about what Eurovision viewers are like because they just love Eurovision in Africa... and everyone in the world are friends...
The videos, the idea, the motto, the theme, the art, the everything is just a big NONSENSE!
