Alexander Rybak again

Singing for the Nobel prize and for a Russian movie

This year's winner is more than ever in the limelights. This Friday, December 11, Alexander Rybak will take part at the official Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

It will take place at the Oslo Spektrum and will be hosted by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. More on the show can be found here .

According to Alexander Rybak’s blogspot, a new version of Fairytale will be performed, “the song being partly adapted according to the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra”. Besides, Alexander is singing the title song of the Russian movie Black lightning, to be launched in late December. “I do believe in miracles” Alexander is now used in the intense marketing of the film, whose director is Timur Bekmambetov. This Sci-Fi film tells the story of a Moscow University’s student who becomes the owner of ordinary from the first sight, been-used, but... able to fly “Volga” car. With this car he will be able to not only avoid Moscow traffic jams, but unexpectedly for himself turn to city’s defender, mysterious fighter against Evil.

Watch the video for the film below.

The making of the film.

@ Layla Al-Magnuna,

'I am ashamed on Norway's behalf, for giving the peace prize to someone who hasn't deserved it'

You are absolutely right!

Norway improved itself as anti-Muslim country. After all those insulting cartoons of Mohammed, now the Peace Prize for the US president who leads the the wars!

Shame on Norway! Norway has improved itself as an anti-Muslim country! Firstly those insulting cartoons of Mohammed and now the Nobel Peace Prize for the president of the USA who illegally attacked the two Muslim countries still prouding crimes there.

To be honest, Keith, I've just seen a little bit of the ceremony from Oslo and Obama did look a bit embarassed actually, whether he's trying to show some humility or whether he is actually embarassed to have received the award, I don't know. His speeches during the election campaign were different class - he was Presidential material from the start and that's why he won. Afghanistan was a problem created by Bush that he's just going to have to deal with.

Nevertheless, congratulations, President Obama, you've won it nonetheless, I can't think of a more deserving winner!!

Well done President Obama!!!

@ Keith Timmons
Haha, true :P I still can't get the fact that his Fairytale performance was the most seen on Youtube on May :O

I don't think it's disrespectful that Obama doesnt attend the Peace concert.

Neither do I. He has no place there anyway. Naturally he prioritises more important matters, like saving the planet. Let's hope his efforts in Copenhagen will do more good for humankind than his peacekeeping missions around the world have done so far. As for the president missing out on Alexander Rybak - well, he seems to be an avid YouTube fan, so perhaps he's familiar with Fairytale already? :P

Agree with Keith Timmons, It is such a pity that Norway gives away the Nobel Prize to an unexperienced President who hasn't even been in charge for one year. And the award has just created more pressure and unnecessary more hope towards Barack Obama, and ofc he finds it annoying as well. Norway Norway Norway..........you can find the spotlight without being troublesome.

Also Keith, I don't think it's disrespectful that Obama doesnt attend the Peace concert. Don't forget that he was obviously going to attend the International Climate Conference in Copenhagen this whole week, but of course Jagland & Co. had to spoil it. If he didn't attend this important conference, he would quite frankly disrespected the whole world, while only disrespecting little tiny Norway for not attending the peace concert.

@Sam: Do you think he deserves a peace award? Obama himself doesn't even think so. One week he decides to send 30 000 more troops to reinforce the occupation of Afghanistan, the next week he travels to Oslo to pick up the Nobel peace prize. Stepping up in Afghanistan may be a wise strategic move in order to win the war, but particularly peaceful it is not. Yet the idiots at the Norwegian Nobel Institute decided to give him the peace prize anyway, hoping that his rhetoric may bring peace to someone somewhere someday. Ironically he has the decency to stay clear of the peace celebrations. He's probably too embarrassed to attend.

Keith,
With all due respect, don't you think President Obama's just having to carry on dealing with the mess that President Bush started?

Oh, I didn't know that, sorry.

Is Rybak performing at a different thing from when President Obama will receive the Nobel Prize or what?

The Nobel website doesn't really clearly say what's going to happen exactly when Obama is in Oslo to receive the Prize.

Rybak will be performing his Eurovision entry in front of President Obama, no less.

Alas. The peace-loving commander in chief will not be attending. Alexander will be singing his song to an array of peace lovers, but the good warlord himself will not be there. Makes perfect sense really, as Obama has no business going to a peace concert anyway.

It's good to see that Rybak will be performing his Eurovision entry in front of President Obama, no less.

I'm going to have to watch a recording of the ceremony and lecture on the web. I know the Nobel committee or broadcasting live on their website between 1pm and 2.30pm CET, but I won't be able to watch then.

By the way, am I the only one who thought giving President Obama the Nobel Peace Prize was a great idea?

I think what they were saying when they gave it to Obama was that his speeches were so powerful, they were literally world-channging. That's why I think he got elected.

@Montenegro Mediterraneo
LOOOOOOL! Who knows :P

I am ashamed on Norway's behalf, for giving the peace prize to someone who hasn't deserved it (yet) and for wasting SO MUCH money on a person's "safety" which he should have covered himself. Like, they could have just sent him the damn award and get it over with and spend the money on something USEFUL instead!

I blame Jagland! lol.

And why is the show hosted by Americans? So silly...

About Alexander: I like the Russian song and hope for more Rybak songs like it! :) I wish he'd sing more in Norwegian too!
The film looks interesting, but strange too.

What's next? Rybak will be married with a member of the royal family?

sorry, I meant yoni levy (a little typing mistake) :O

yoni lewl:
lol the guy knows russian hmm

Well, Alexander was born in Minsk in 1986 (then it was part of the Soviet Union, now Belarus). He moved with his parents to Norway when he was 4. His parents is of Belarussian (or russian) origin and he has his grand parents living in Belarus. It can't be that surprising that he can sing and speak in russian ;p ;)
