Israel: Shiri Maimon in Belgium

Shiri Maimon, the 2005 Israeli representative who achieved a respectable 4th place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Hasheket Shenish'ar’ (The silence that remains) have been given the honour of being the special guest star at the 2010 Erev Galabal in the Belgian city of Antwerpen on Saturday 23rd of January 2010.

The galabal is set to be the society gathering for the Jewish community in Belgium but expected to welcome also many fans and Jewish people from the Netherlands, France, Germany, Switzerland and many more.

The idea of the Gala Ball is to give the unique opportunity for Jewish communities of different regions to meet, greet while enjoying the fantastic atmosphere of Israeli top artists performing on stage. Local promotion has been put in place in Belgium, Holland & Germany to make this gala ball the first in its kind. The 5 stars Radisson Park Lane, located in the heart of Antwerp has been chosen to host the event. Also the famous Israeli DJ Itay Lev promises to make the audience dance all night!

In preparation of the Belgian performance, Shiri Maimon is really  looking forward to this new opportunity. For the occasion she sent a special message to her fans

Ticketing information can be found here . There will be opportunities to meet up with the Israeli Eurostar and arrangements have been made for guests to attend a VIP-lunch with the Israeli singer.

Very special thanks to Olivier Vanhoutte for the submission of the information.

If Harel will go to Oslo it's will be great! and big chance for Grand Prix for Israel :)

Harel Skaat is not too bad. He does have a lot of boring ballads, but with a more catchy and melodic song (ballad, mid- or up-tempo) it could be good.

I think Harel is Perfect for Eurovision and has the potential to win the contest :) (L)

I really hope the information about him going to Eurovision is true.

I also agree that the 2010 Israeli entry should have some Mizrahi musical elements because it is appealing and exotic to alot of people across Europe.

I have mixed feelings about Harel: OK, his family roots are from Yemen and it's a known fact that Israeli Yemenites do well in ESC and there's no reason why he should be different, but musically speaking I don't connect with his musical style and I don't remember any major hit or critical praise since VE-AT in 2005 or 2006. I also think it's a disadvantage that his songs lack in ethnic or oriental sounds because it strikes me that Europeans tend to look for some exoticism in the sounds and the vocals. While Harel is a middle of the road kind of a singer, I'm not sure he has any particularity unlike Boaz in 2008.

My favorite ESC song ever!

Very impressed to see it finish number 6 (and beat that year's winner) in the ESC today "Song of the Decade" poll.

@yoni levy
"was the nesscery thing to say ? i mean whs cares how she look !
talk about her song and only!"

Yes, who cares? Everyone here sure does, including you:

"and i realy dont think shes ugly ! she is beautiful !"

So you don't care how she looks, but you had to mention that she is beautiful anyway, hmmmm.... Everyone either said she is beautiful or like me, she's not. I just offered a balance here I think. Why is it rude only when you think the opposite of the majority? Maybe you too should only talk about her music. And I did mention her music, which I hate.

What's ur problem? When a member here has an Arabic user name doesn't mean, that he/she is Arab! ;)

@ Yoni

I think you owe Layla Al-Magnuna an apology. She has the right to express her opinion. There was nothing offensive about what she wrote which should have led you to such a knee-jerk reaction.
As for that ladyboy, I'm new to this board and even if he/she is a provocateur and an impersonator, it doesn't mean one needs to ignore 'it' because when you remain silent, it could mean that you're inadvertently accepting the nature and the substance of the comment. I was more surprised by the lack of response than the actual rubbish 'it' spitted.

And your mummy should have taught you that making up things about people are bad. I didn't say anything racistic.

@yoni levy
I think you are the one who's too quick to judge and really can't accept that some people have different TASTE! You can't tell me my taste in music is bad as if it was a fact - because it's not. Shiri had one of the ugliest entries in Eurovision history and that's MY opinion. My NICKNAME might be Arabic, but that doesn't mean I am.

And did ANY of you even consider that maybe this person, Lady Ariunaa or whatever might be a fake profile? The picture is of a Mongolian singer or something and she/he ALWAYS posts provocative and/or hateful posts. Even her/his profile text is ridiculously unrealistic.

well said.
but you know what is also funny? i went inside the profile of this stupid "lady" here on Esctoday and she is from Russia. and she said here in this article "i live so close but im not going".......(to the concert in Antwerp, Belgium) hehehehehe :-) not only this "lady" is racist she is also stupid like a lase of a shoe.

btw.....the big news coming from Israel today are:

To the mongoloid ladyboy, how would you like it if people say that all Mongolians are mongaloid? You can dislike Shiri Maimon's singing or choice of music, but labelling her as a 'terrorist' only reflects on your own spineless morality and mental bankruptcy. Name-calling can be easily directed at your country, race or nationality if you want to go down that slippery slope. I suggest you take your filth to hate mongering boards where you belong and spare us from your gutless and distasteful tripe.
