Armenian broadcaster looking for national final entries
Songs can submitted until 1st February 2010. By 10th Feburary, ten acts will be chosen to compete in the national final. The ten entries will be broadcast on television between 10th and 15th February and a jury and televoting will select the winner, both counting for 50%. Earlier there have been rumours that Mihran & Emmy had already been selected as Armenian entrants based on a video that appeared on youtube. Those rumours therefore turn out to be untrue; however it is still possible that they will take part in the national selection.
Armenia has been competing in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2006. In 2009, they were represented by Inga & Anush with the song Nor par (Jan jan), which finished tenth in the final making it the country's lowest placing entry to date.

Really, it's no problem
@Daniel C Bagpuss VI
I did not want to say anything wrong. But my english is not perfect that way I am sorry.
I'm not a 'her' but I don't take offence
I wish that, all the people opine like Daniel C Bagpuss VI. But I think Bagpuss be justified about Diaspora. I see that Bagpus really neutral and her opinion is very clear.
@Daniel C Bagpuss VI
OK, I will not talk to u again, but I hope u will never talk about diasporas, too!
Kenan loves Angelic: yes, Suzan Markaryan won't be a bad choice too!!
But Not Shprot, she sucks on singing!!

For me it's a good song that is also well performed and I think the vocal is the most important part of the performance, not how many gimmicks, dancers or pieces of equipment are on stage, or indeed how well someone dances or not. Most people only see/hear the song once or twice and judge it on that, so that is really why I consider the vocal performance an important factor. A bad song well performed doesn't impress me either, it just seems a shame that the performer wasn't given better material. That is a matter of choice, some people value the visual side of things much more or the song more than the performance. When it comes to songs I like, I can enjoy listening to the recorded version, so how well or badly it was peformed in the contest isn't relevant.

I really don't want to start this discussion up again, didn't you read my last comment? I thought the subject was closed. I never suggested anything like sending people back to their countries and I never would, so don't say things like that and cause more problems. It isn't a matter of 'what we can do' but IMO, anything to do with Eurovision can be discussed on a Eurovision site and diaspora is part of that and not just the Armenian one.
'...it's a song contest, not a UN meeting.' LOL that made me laugh
@ Daniel C Bagpuss VI
I beg to differ, and i'm not "tone deaf" or whatever. I thought Sirusho had a great performance. The semi performance was a little weaker, but the final one was good.
For me it's about the whole package. First and foremost, the song is the most important. Even if the singers has brilliant live voices, it doesn't save a bad song. So if the song is not good, a good voice doesn't matter.
And then it's about the performance in combination with the voice. Offcourse, if someone sings extremely bad, it will make the song feel worse, but i'd rather take someone singing "just ok" and having a good song over someone with a brilliant voice but bad song.
We may think differently here, but for me the most important is the song.
@Daniel C Bagpuss VI
U must really stop with talking about the Armenian diaspora! I mean, yes, there is a huge diaspora in Europe, but what can we do now? Sent all the Armenian's back to Armenia to stop the Armenian diaspora voting? No, we can't do anything, so, just enjoy this contest instead of critizing diasporas every time!
I never did attack Armenia or any other country, that's just the point. I don't have any bias for or against any country in the contest. Armenia may send my favourite song in 2010 and if that is the case I will say how much I like it. It could just as easily be Russia, Portugal, Greece, Finland or any other country. It really is just taste. Merry Christmas
@Daniel C Bagpuss VI
My friend, please do not start again an unnecessary issue. Please leave alone. Go and write your commet I respect you but please do not attack the country or Singer's, that's not honest, but taste is different, of course, you can criticize a song, and of course you can criticize about the voting system and others general problem. Merry Xmas.
Blue Aura
I know you are extremely sensitive to any criticism, you got so upset when someone called Sirusho a woman instead of a lady
Daniel C Bagpuss VI
Calm down. No need aggressive. I see you there too long bashing always look for Armenia and, each time a different question. But absolutely sure that you are not honest. And yes here is not UN meeting, please leave attack on the country, but we talk about a solution to general problems of the ESC.
@Mirey M
What about Shprot, or Suzan Margaryan with a beautiful ballad?
I hope that Mihran (without Emmy), Lilu, Lucina & Mher will compete for the national final!!! ^^
You are the pathetic ones, if somebody thinks a singer's vocal performance was bad (which it was to almost anyone who isn't biased or tone deaf), you see it as an attack on your country and all Armenian people. Well then I must hate just about every country and people, including my own, as almost every country has sent bad songs/and or performances, including the UK. Stop being so childish with your endless tantrums and insults - it's a song contest, not a UN meeting.
@Daniel C Bagpuss VI
You still bashing on this page to Armenia?
And now yet another issue?
I just wonder. I see your main task is only hurt by Armenia.
Enough of you hate here your comment.
You have not always right with another issue to blame Armenia. This is not honest, but that's only hate! How pathetic!
aysel
ay maybe (but it is old song but i like it a lot.bacause this song asa our national song)

@Bagpuss
I think that the first part of bashing of Armenia is end and start now the second bashing part. In the first part of the bashing Armenia, the topic is the Amenian Diaspora and now for the second part the topic is the Armenian song performance. Bagpuss it is obviously that your especially topic is just Armenia.
It must be the singers' decision, in what a language they want to sing their songs imo! There shouldn't be a constraint about that!
its amazing when countries sing in their lang.i enjoy it
LoVe Is My LiFe
I always prefer when countries sing in their own language, sometimes it would be impossible to tell which country a song is from with so many songs in English. It is also the reason why I like a much larger proportion of songs from before 1999. However I also understand the argument that it is fairer to allow countries to choose the language they want.
New in Town
I think it should be a combination of song and vocal performance. There are a lot of cases where I like the song but thought the performance was really bad. Sometimes the vocal performance is very good but the song isn't, that's more a matter of taste. When I first heard 'Qele qele', the beginning of the song sounded like something that I would really like, but then I found it disappointing. I don't hate the song, but I didn't think the performance was very good. Actually I don't hate any Armenian songs (and I never said I did), I just don't like any of them a great deal. Maybe 2010 will be different. Despite what some people on here may think, my opinion is based on the song, not on the country.
Pinkywings
he didnt insult anybodu here.
@Bagpuss I'm tired writen to you that you please correct comment here! If a country has a fault, of course, you can commet about the country. But you can not belonged a general fault, just an ESC country that is not honestly. Please correct commet here. You just to people annoying here. Enough always your same wrong comment. Go and rest a bit.
esctoday aysel has new music.its about love.she said that this music is so quality.may you open topic about it?
@ Daniel C Bagpuss VI
I'm sorry, I meant the comment made by Zanic Night, my fault. My comment was more like a reaction toward this whole discussion about Armenian diaspora in general.
Well it's personal taste whether you like the live performance or not. For me in the end of the day it's about the songs. Offcourse the performances shouldn't be awful, but it's the songs that wins.
Anyway my point was just that Armenia is not alone with having diaspora voting for them and I feel there's too much focus in the discussion about that.
