National final on February 27th
Latvia launches quest for a Eurovision entry
LTV has just started the quest to select a Latvian song for Eurovision 2010. This year's edition of Eirodziesma will see several changes, for instance, the competition is open to songwriters and artists of Latvian citizenship only. Moreover, the 2010 procedure has been shortened to only one show, where a total of 10 acts internally selected by the broadcaster will fight to represent Latvia in Oslo.
The submissions deadline due on January 15th, while the names of the finalists will be made public a few days later. This year's Eirodziesma will be held in Ventspils, on February 27th. The show will feature two parts: in the first one, all 10 hopefuls will compete to qualify to the second part, where the 3 top ranked acts will fight for the honour of representing their country in Oslo. The outcome of the show will be provided by a combination of jury vote and televote at a 50/50 stake.

@Mario Mir , i didnt hear anything about that, but i dont thing that Cyprus broadcaster confirm its participation for ESC 2011 since already have many financial problems and its going to surplus many employes and also retire earlyer many of the old staff. But for sure Cyprus withdraw from JESC 2010.
It was obvious that they will participate. I think Lithuania will finally do the same as well.
@ Lina
Is it true that Cyprus broadcaster has officially confirmed its participation in ESC 2011??? It's the first time that a country confirms participation in a edition while other countries (i.e. Lithuania) haven't confirmed yet their participation in the precedent edition!!
Interesting, they are partly following the Estonian concept. I think they should have gone the whole way though and only allowing songs in Latvian.
As for Latvian entries they have only send one actual good one (2000). I hope they will celebrate 10yrs in the contest with an even better one in 2010!
Latvia was one of my favourites last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, so keep delivering the goods!
Nothing from Latvia has lived up to their first entry and the last couple of years have been really bad. Hopefully something good will emerge for 2010
Welcome to Oslo,Latvia!
Good luck Latvia !!!
Good luck Latvia, lets hope for a good song in 2010

I loved "My Star", "The War Is Not Over" and "Questa Notte" very much. I even liked "I Wanna" (but not to win though)
Best of Luck to Latvia!
My Star is their best entry to date, one of my fave ESC songs ever!
I also love their 2006 and 2008 entries too. I also have a soft spot for 'Probka' too.
