Har'el Ska'at

Rumors go on

Israel: Newspaper claims Harel Ska'at to Oslo

Ma'ariv, one of the Israeli biggest daily newspapers, claims that after long discussions about the type of the selection and the singers selected, it was decided today during an IBA meeting that Harel Ska'at will represent Israel in Oslo next May. The rumours have yet to be confirmed by the broadcaster.

According to NRG, during the meeting, it was decided that Reshet, an operator of Channel 2, will hold a Kdam-Eurovision for Harel. He would probably sing four songs, and the people at home would probably choose the winning song.

Harel's first album was released in 2006, and his song Ve'at (And you) shortly reached the first place in the radio charts. Three months ago, his second album was released.

Last year, Noa & Mira Awad reprsented Israel with the song There must be another way, which finished 16th in the final with 53 points.

Watch and listen to some of Harel's songs here:

@ ozi

I agree with u; apart from Hebrew, Arabic should also be used. Arabic is a highly recognisable language and is the 2nd most spoken language in the world, after spanish. These languages help Israel be more unique at esc and the authenticity produced from singing ballads in these languages is awesome!! :D

Oh no :( I was hoping they'd have a proper NF with more than just one artist singing all the songs.

And he is just OK, a very average and OK-ish singer.

@ Yoni, it might not be your language but it is an offical language of Israel. Why should it not be used?

Well whoever represents Israel I hope they sing in Hebrew or Arabic rather than in English... They send some of the best ballads to the esc.

Harel also has a theatre background. Here's a clip from when he was in the Beit Tzvi theatre school many years ago. The clip shows him singing the Hebrew version of "Saxophone Solo" from Miss Saigon, in a duet with Hila Zatoun.

Sorry, it was supposed to say:

"Too much "Idol" look FOR my taste. Sorry, but I don't think there's something special in his voice."

B'hatzlacha Chazan Ska'at! This is the best news since Israel sent Boaz Mauda and Shiri Maimon. Harel will do Israel proud and knows how to please a crowd. He has also been learning French so the Israeli entry may even have some Francais in it. Here is a wonderful new clip from his current concert tour.

His first album is really great, I don't care to much for his second one... I hope if the songs will sound like any of his albums I hope it'll sound more like the first one.

the video with Maya Buskila is really great.. but then again it's not HIS songs, and she's a much stronger singer and performer than he is.. But he looks great in a suit like that, so we shall see if it's true.

Israel is one of the most awaited entries of the year for me. It is difficult to find an Israeli song I disliked. I miss the good old times when Israel and Spain shared high points.

hes cute this one! i love his song "Kama Od Efshar" (How long)....a song like this would be such a nice song for the ESC...good luck

I think he would be a good choice for Israel, as long as he gets a good song. I like quite a lot of Israeli entries, Shiri Maimon above all the others, but the last 2 years have been really good too.

Despite the ongoing rumours of him entering, I hope he will do it someday. Eurovision needs male hotties x). Plus he's got a really nice voice and great songs!

for the last two years, Israel had great singers and nice group of songs for them to choose from, not usually chosing the best one though.. Anyway every year we get the rumor that HE will go and it turns out it's not true so I would recommend to wait first..

Wow That would be the best news this year if it is true. He is amazing. Hope that he will get great song. His album is great. He could bring ESC back to Jerusalem.

@ Paschalis

How come he wouldn't do well? Israel is popular with the juries, and if they have a good song, they tend to have quite big support with viewers aswell.

Harel is probably one the country's most popular singers, and I think with a good song, Israel could be able top pull off a top.5 even if they're lucky.
