The winners
This is the third esctoday.com award for Israel overall and the first one in this category. Previous awards for Israel were won in the categories Best male performance and Best male vocal performance last year. Please note that this category is only for acts with two or more lead singers; if a band had only one lead singer, he or she was eligible for nomination in the Best male vocal performance or Best female vocal performance categories respectively.
Noa, whose real name is Achinoam Nini, was born in Tel Aviv to parents with Yemeni roots but she grew up in the United States before moving back to Israel at the age of 17. She later attended a music school, where she met Gil Dor with whom she has been working since. Over the years, she has develop to become one of the most successful live and recording artists of Israel having performed at famous venues all over the world. She is also very well known for her work on film soundtracks as she has worked on the music for pictures such as GoldenEye, Joan of Arc and Life is beautiful. She also sang the part of Esmeralda in the French version of the Disney film The Hunchback of Notre Dame and its album sold to triple platinum.
Mira Awad was born in Rameh to a Bulgarian mother and an Arab father. Like Noa, she graduated from the Rimon music school in Ramat HaSharon. Currently, she is famous not only as a singer, but also as an actress in films, TV series and stage productions. Among others, she starred in the sitcom Arab Labor and in the 2006 Eytan Fox film The bubble. In 2004, she took part in the Israeli national final for the Eurovision Song Contest but finished 14th and hence last with Znam.
Noa & Mira awad joined forces for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, but it is not the first time they worked together. Previously, Mira Awad had already appeared on Noa's 2002 album Now covering the Beatles' classic We can work it out. They were chosen internally to represent Israel in Moscow and they also wrote all four entries in the national song selection along with Gil Dor.

Igor & Andrea were great, but Mira and Noa were just amazing.
yoni levy, she is from Iran. Though she says that Iran has a superior moral standard compared to the dacaying Western, she refuses to go back there and to put on a burka. Guess what would happen to her if her people knew that she spends so much time among "sinners"?
That´s great...Although any other of the others could win because the first 3 entries were all great

It´s all a Question of Taste - I agree to you but..................
The nomination is "group vocal performance award" pay attention on the word "vocal"! You may don't like the song, but if you uderstand something in the "vocal" you would understand that their vocal was the best and the song was more dificult! Look at this and try to pay attention on their voice!

turkish arabs or any other shit!
BUT THATS IT! ive been watching all ur comments about israeli stuff here!
about harel skaat about shiri maimon and now mira awad and noa!
NO WONDER U GOT SOMETING against israel! and u saying those opinions with no shit of idea of what your saying! if u think this sucks and harel maimon is sucks and shiri miamon is ugly and her song boring!
THEN U REALY HAVE NO TASTE IN MUSIC! and probably has someting against israel ... no talking about ur name even! it proves it all !
It´s all a Question of Taste & sorry YEREVAN JAN, in my Opinion, Armenia was this Year the worst Entry of all. Maybe because exatly that Point, that bis is very different, but it looks like Inga & Anush have many Fans, what we can see on the Results here:-)
This year Armenia again will be represented by duo! EMMY AND MIHRAN

I don't know! In general Noa & Mira Awad well, but the song far away wasn't the best! Till now I just cant understand what is doing a duo in this nomination???????????????????? ?????
Igor Cukorv & Andrea - Igor Cukorv this year had the best male vocal, but i'm not sure whether croation entery was duo. I think that was solo!
Inga and Anush sang wonderfull, and the song was very dificult /some people may think that I am subjective, but no!/. They deserved to win in this nomination as duo vocal!
btw - not that that I thought they were great - just the best of a very very bad bunch!!!
Another one I agree with - that is two so far.
Yes!! They were by far my best in this category!
well its a bad sign for the rest of the people i voted for in the rest of the categories- cause so far I haven't voted for a single winner!
Well done... i wouldve put slovakia first but these two made me like a song i thought drab and dull prior to the actual show! bravo
James, they weren't both out of tune the entire song, it was only Mira out of tune for only half the song
It's sad this article doesn't mention that Mira Awad is at the moment one of the most successful candidates in the Israeli version of Dancing With the Stars. She an her male companion are ranked every week among the top couples of the night, and she even a contender for an overall victory. (that probably won't happen because it's clear the audience at home will prefer some other actor's biceps)
Israel? This has to be a joke. They were out of tune the whole way through.
Finally some award for Noa and Mira
Perfect top2 ...!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY !!
Noa is just simply amazing !! I love her as a person and as a singer ! I have so much respect and admiration for her !
They were good live, however they weren't all too great in the Final, but in the Semi-Finals they were just magical ! Armenia and Slovakia sang really well and Croatia was good. Azerbaijan on the other hand was quite bad, so I have no idea why they are 2nd for SINGING.
Well done Noa and Mira. I think Croatia should have done better than that though
I'm sorry, but this HAS TO be a joke? Their voices match each other perfectly, and the studioversion is beautiful, but on the night they were out of tune a lot of the time; NOT a very good vocal performance at all in my opinion.
This is just as ridiculous as Alexander almost winning best male vocal performance...
Although I voted for Slovakia, I totaly agree with the results.
BTW- here in Malta the Armenian song did quit well.
Layla the crazy person- try to give a good word for once in a while, and please stop looking for negative issues all the time (especially when it's about Israel. We can tell by your name that your opinion is the least objective here, and it count as nothing! Just pure evil!)
Ridiculous. They sucked and so did their song. Complete political BS. Inga & Anush and Igor & Andrea were MUCH better!
Well done Noa and Mira....I personally though think that Croatia should have won this....Croatia's entry this year was underrated (like a lot of songs)

Slovakia is definitely too low, but Israel was by far among the best vocals of the night ! great award !
Congratulations Noa and Mira. :} You deserved it
