esctoday.com Awards 2009

Gipsy.cz win Worst dressed act award

The votes for the fourth annual esctoday.com awards have been cast over the last three and a half weeks and now it is time to reveal the results. We continue with the Worst dressed act award.

The 2009 esctoday.com Award for Worst dressed act goes to...

  • ...Gipsy.cz of the Czech Republic

Gipsy.cz represented the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and finished last in the first semi final with the song Aven romale

  • You can find the list of all award results revealed so far this year here

The winners

This is the very first esctoday.com award for the Czech Republic. Previously, this award has gone to Nonstop (Portugal) in 2006, The Ark (Sweden) in 2007 and Gisela (Andorra) in 2008. It is therefore the third time in fourth years that this award goes to a group.

The complete results

Gipsy.cz easily won this award ahead of Zoli Ádok from Hungary, winner of this year's Barbara Dex award. Hadise from Turkey follows in third place.

  1. Gipsy.cz (Czech Republic) - 32.7%
  2. Zoli Ádok (Hungary) - 20.1%
  3. Hadise (Turkey) - 16.5%
  4. Krassimir Avramov (Bulgaria) - 16.2%
  5. Kejsi Tola (Albania) - 14.4%

The winning outfits during the performance

This was the last award for tonight. On Monday, we will introduce the winners in the five big categories: Composer of the year, Lyricist of the year/English lyrics, Lyricist of the year/Non-English and multilingual lyrics, Performance of the year and Song of the year

Orhan Sahin:

Isn't it ironic then, that Turkey's singer was Belgian and Turkey gave 12 points to your own dear neighbours Azerbaijan. Oh, and 10 points to Albania? And you say the rest of Europe has bad taste.

Anyway, I think I speak for all of us when I say please shut the hell up, all you're doing is making yourself look like a total prat.

ALL of you who think Hadise was worst dressed are retards the worst was Czech republic and Hungary.

and Layla you you are the stupid alladin slut you arab whore NORWAY was the worst performance and song this year. It's a shame that eurovision is rigged because ALexander Gaybak is actually from belarus and is russian and not NORWEIGAN he just lives there. thats why all these stupid countries who share the SAME LOOKING FLAG BUT WITH A DIFFERENT COLOUR VOTED FOR HIM. and THAT IS WHY ALL RUSSIAN COUNTRIES VOTED FOR HIM not because of how "good" his song was when it was absolute shit but because he was russian. stupid arab HOE

HADISE THE BEST

Zoli Adok should have won by a landslide here. His outfit was absolutely camp, it made me cringe. Well, he got the Barbara Dex Award anyway...

I don't hate the Czech song. Actually, I think it was the best Czech entry so far...

i think bulgaria or hungary deserved that award.. but also there were some other bad dressed acts like yohanna: top of being demode with a dress from 1800s.. or sakis: like a hospital stuff..

Only because people hated this song Czech Republic wins the worst dressed award. Lets be honest. I thought it was great, Eurovision needs entries like 'Aven Romale'.

:DDD Huraaah!! :D .. Thx for some nice comments ;-) This is the best: Czech Rep was just too good for ESC.

Czech Republic was awful, but I didn't vote for it as it was appropriate for the (awful) song. The other 4 deserve their placings :P :P :P

pff... Turkey, Albania and Bulgaria were much worse. Greece should have been nominated too! Czech Rep was just too good for ESC.

My candidates never win! Of course Hungary should have taken the prize, but... life is so unfair!

Yep, i agree with these results. The Czech Rep have sent little to be desired in previous years, so sending a man with a cape singing about gypsies was asking for trouble, and they got it, i the form of the first 0 points for half a decade. Sorry, i just didn't get it.

People just don't understand the brilliance of their act. It was funny as hell and the song was quite good/catchy. Anyway, I think Hungary is the real winner (=loser) here. Albania was badly dressed too and so was Hadise with her slutty Aladdin look.

i voted for albania.. along with bulgaria they were the worst ones because they really took their horrible clothes seriously.. while Czech Rep or Hungary were more on a joke level..
