News - Angie Be wins Eurodanceweb award for France | Eurovision Song Contest News - 2010 Oslo, Norway 

Created in 2001, the Eurodanceweb award is the one and only song contest dedicated to dance music produced in Europe and the Mediterranean Area, Boris Zuccon explains. Every year, the editors of the website www.eurodanceweb.net monitor the record market and then select the best song to represent each country in a competition. These tracks are then voted by a professional jury (with disc jockeys, journalists and producers) that nominates the best Eurodance song of the year. Also readers can have a say by voting their favorite song, among all the competing entries, in an online poll. The results of both charts are published within the end of each year on the official website of the project.

Released in the summer of 2009, Soundwaves, the winning song, is written by Alexander Perls and composed by Olivier Visconti, the DJ and producer RLS (also known with his real name Cédric Lorrain) and Stéphane Lozac'h. After working as a top model and actress, Angie Be shot to fame in the French show biz thanks to her recent participation in the reality show called Secret Story. Originally written only in English, Soundwaves has been recently translated into French and will be included in a new version of the single, whose release is set to mid January 2010.

The second place of this year's Eurodanceweb Award has been achieved by one of the most successful dance acts of the last decade: Lasgo representing Belgium with Gone. Third is the Finnish dance group G-Powered with one of the latest singles, Kohti Unelmaa, that was also released in English with the title The dream. As for the online poll, more than 60,000 people chose their favourite song in the 2009 Online Poll, won by Nourhanne with 43% of the total votes cast. Thanks to a big promotional campaign on several leading Arabic media, the Lebanese singer gave her country the very first win ever with the song Ta’a habibi. During her carreer, Nourhanne has released many successful songs such as Habibi ya einy, that in 2004 reached also the European market thanks to a dance remix.

As every year, Eurovision fans will recognize some familiar names in the 2009 list: Deep Zone Project for Bulgaria and Tone Damli Aaberge for Norway, with the DJ Leo 09 remix of her Melodi Grand Prix entry Butterflies.

Last year’s contest was won by Alex C. featuring Yass, for Germany, Alex C. being Alex Christensen, of Alex swings, Oscar sings, the 2009 German Eurovision entrants. Back in 2002, Karmen Stavec won the Eurodanceweb award with Še in Še, the song placed second at the Slovenian final for Eurovision.
