Songs are ready

MaNga will choose the possible songs next week

MaNga, The Turkish representatives at Eurovision 2010, will choose the candidate songs for Eurovision Song Contest among the songs they have been preparing after the MTV Awards ceremony, where they were awarded the trophy to the best European act. The band explained it during the selection for the Rock'n Dark contest in the stage of Çanakkale City.

Ferman Akgül, who is the soloist of the band, explained that they won't care about elements such as competition and the political situations in several countries.

"This is a competition to embark in on the hoof and we aim to do our best" said Akgul. "We will go to Eurovision and make people share the moment. Our song for Eurovision Song Contest is not yet decided, but after receiving the MTV award, we started to make preparations. Next week we will make our choice", Akgul concluded.

@Can Ayaz

Happy birthday! :)

@Ozi :-)

But I disagree with u! Israel hasn't got a strong diaspora! ;)

hope they keep to their style rather than changing it to try and 'appeal' to a wider audience...this is what I am most worried about.
I hope that too, tho I don't like it very much!!
But i wanna they to keep style coz I like when singers do that, not make classic ESC song!!
I'm sooo happy Mira Craig keeps her style in MGP this year!! :D

I just cant wait for maNga to finally pick their song! I already have loads of their songs on my ipod. I really hope they keep to their style rather than changing it to try and 'appeal' to a wider audience...this is what I am most worried about.

I like them very much aswell... I hope they come up with a good song, hopefully in Turkish ... But that won't be case, as they decided to perform in English,.... Good luck Manga, and good luck Turkey,...

I agree with Kenan, people seem to always foreget that Israel also benefits from diaspora votes... People seem to only every remember Turkey, Armenia and Geece lool... but waaaay more countries also benefit from it as well.

I love them, I have been listening to their music since their debut Bir Kadın Çizeceksin (meaning you will paint a woman...) They are so natural, so like themselves. I think they have a unique style, it's not classic rock. (my opinion)

Well Gunec, I was very very positive about the Turkish songs, wasn't I ? It's my personal feeling sweety. I love lots of older Tukish songs, really do, and I agree they were very very very underrated. So that was wrong, but nowadays the voting is wrong aswell.... That's why I am happy when Turkey sents little treasures like Deli, Athena etc..... lovely and than I can live with the good results (diaspora),... Btw, I just saw in your profile that we are almost the same age. I am 6 weeks younger....

@Axel in 2003 many countries use 100% jury voting ( included my countrey Cyprus ) , official televoting from all countries start on 2004, and btw ESC is a contest and all countries want to win and host ESC and not only countries with international languages like : France, Luxembourg, United Kingdom and Ireland , who use to win very offen the contest before freedom of language in ESC songs. If Turkey or Finland, or Greece, or Estonia or Latvia send they r winning songs in they r native languages will never win ESC ;) And sorry if you want to hear a song in your radio you find a turkish or German or Finnish or any other non english station ?

C'mon Axel pleeaasee, everybody is participating to win, and Belgium better than Sertab? it's obviously a minority's opinion... Sertab's song was selected the 3rd best song of all times (in ESC). This should tell stg to you. About how we got those points, you know how western European countries got those top positions before televoting systems. Only Sweden or Norway or Ireland was able to win this contest (they were surely on top 5 every year). It is the same for UK. Neighbour voting has always been in this contest.

But that was not really the subject, I only said that (for me) Turkey's best entries were in Turkish.

Gunec,

you have to read what I wrote down before you comment.... I said it's not all about top positions.... (we know how you get those positions anyway), for me a true Eurovision fan, it's about songs... not just about getting as many points as possible. If diaspora wouldn't exist, Sertab would not have won in 2003. Belgium was way better (for me personally).

Axel did you forget that our only victory (Everyway that I can) was in English and our entries in English got higher points (Shake it up shekerim, For Real, Dum Tek Tek etc.)

Axel Kearns [47152]

Well I must disagree once again.... there is a lot more than just having top positions every year... the best Turkish entries were without any doubt all in Turkish : Deli, Yorgunum anla, Dinle, Besinci mevsim, Bana bana, Sufi, Halley, Pet'r oil and off course the first ever beautiful entry Seninle bir dakika....

I really do think that since Turkey started sending English songs, it went downhill.... Tukish is a beautiful language.

@Lina !!!

Israel takes sometimes good results coz is has just problems with Arab countries, and they don't participate! :(Israel has very good relations with many European countries ( Especially with the West-European )! ;)

@Turquality , i dont thing that Turkey take poor results beacuse of politics beacuse many countries take poor results almost every year , for example Finland, Portugal who dont have political problems with no one , on the other hand Israel who has huge political problems taken almost every year very good places. But yes english language make a lot of countries to take good places or even to win , but beacuse this topic is for Turkey i speak for Turkey :) @Turquality do you like Finnish ESC songs with Finnish lyrics before 2000 ?

does anybody know the actual date in which we will be able to hear the songs?

TurQuality Fire [45505]
Mon 18 Jan 2010 23:24:53

@lina : our bad results's main reason was political jurry votes... on the other hand, singing in english has a positive effect for all esc countries, not only for turkey..

Lina !!! [56410]

I thing is better to sing in english beacuse turkish language is very weird sometimes to the people who dont speak turkish, and thats was one big reason who Turkey before 2000 fail many times with very good songs but with turkish lirycs, very rare a turkish song with turkish lyrics sound good ( for examble Mor ve Ötesi's song and Sebnem Paker & Grup Etnik ), so i thing is not good to take a risc and singing in turkish language. Language problem in ESC have also : Finland, Estonia, Germany, Belgium ( in flamish ) and Austria. For some new countries like Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia i dont know beacuse i never heard a song from that countries with theyr natives languages. But for sure Azerbaijan if send a song in Azeri language will be a risk since Azeri language is similar to Turkish language.
