the level of Songs in Malta.. is going down down down!!
I love Thea's Song.. but unfortunately NONE of the finalists will get a high score in Oslo..
silver clash
The quality of entries in Malta have been going straight down for the past 3-4 years. The only really good singer here is Petra but Thea's song is much more my cup of tea.
Miriam Christine is also a great singer but she was doing just like last year as she doesn't care at all to go again.
that we need new composers..it is not stupid!! il-livell vera baxx.
@ marcella. that is a very stupid way of thinking. If they have an open selection everybody gets an equal chance to submit. I liked some of the songs, but some others were not so good. This happens in every selection
the truth is in malta we need new authors and composers!! i mean the same authors and composers every year....thay are tired!!! they are not original anymore!! the truth is that there are many youths that are able to write..and their writings are left in a cupboard..because the 'named writers' do not give them the chance to do so!! because the old writers are used now to go to eurovision every year and making money by wrting so crapy songs!! even in the elaminations..they always choose the NAMED WRITERS and NAMED SINGERS!
@ *esc fan*
haha lol... I meant that no matter how good a voice can be... if the song is useless it won't help... and in this case it won't help
Samsara for Malta
For those who don't know....The composers of the song 'This is my dream' (Thea) are those who composed The one that I love (Chiara 1998)...so....
Thea Garrett for Oslo ! Definitely !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@New in Town
I agree with you. Many people can sing, but VERY FEW can sing in the majestic way that Lawrence Gray sings!!!! His vocal capabilites are comparable to the vocal abilities of some of the world's greatest artists. This outstanding artist deserves to be discovered and be successful on an international scale!!
@Axel Kearns
I was not taliking about Chiara, but about Lawrence Gray. I only mentioned Chiara because she made a duet with Lawrence Gray. They sang together a cover version of 'The Prayer'. This is found on You Tube and I think it is really wonderful!!!
Lawrence Gray's voice and talent is certainly not inferior to Chiara's.
Malta should have sent Lawrence Gray to Eurovision ages ago!!! It all does not make sense. Many times they have sent singers who are vocally very inferior to him. Then they get disastrous results and seem to be surprised and taken aback. And all the time they had this amazing Lawrence Gray with his stupendous voice!! Why have they kept him hidden away? What on earth are they waiting for?
Regarding his song 'Stories', I think is a good song, but can be improved and should be improved. With some amendments, I think it can become a really great song.

Many people can sing... does it help them if they have a bad song? Nope...
@Marcella,
sweetheart, believe me, I could say something else as I would love to see Malta win (for years), but not with these songs... they are just bad
@esc fan,
What is it worth that she can sing if her song is crap ???? Chiara can sing but if she doesn't get the good songs,....
Those of you who are criticising Lawrence Gray's singing, really do not know what they are saying!!! Probably they have not even heard him properly. I invite you to go to You Tube and watch his 'Gethsemane' and ' You Are My Lover'. Lawrence sings both these songs (and others) in an impeccable way. He sings with such feeling and emotion, that he brings you to tears. Read also the comments made. There are many who really appreciate his wonderful talent!!!!
I only discovered him recently and I must say I am really impressed!!! As Simon Cowell would say, Lawrence Gray is super talented!!!!
Hear also Lawrence Gray and Chiara singing 'The Prayer'. It is just beautiful!!
dear alex..how could you say if malta will be in the finals or not if you don't know the other songs of the 39 countries? and apart from that when the song is chosen from malta..they always make some changes after!
Sad over the whole line.... no Malta in the final this year. And all that crap about sending Chiara again... please she went 3 times and every time the song got weaker and weaker,... so thanks but no thanks.
OMG!!!! I just listen to all the songs! This is awful! I am sorry Malta but you need to clean your ear. No Mirage??? No Silver Rain??? No twenty thousand leagues???
And then you let Silver clash and Foxy Federation in??? BAAAH!!!
This is unacceptable! Malta you are becoming the joke of the Eurovision!
I don't believe for a minute that the running order wasn't decided by draw, so it's pure coincidence that the songs considered the stronger candidates are in the first 6 positions. You could say that by being last on the running order, Pamela stands a better chance to win, but it's unthinkable that this was done to influence the results in any way. Personally I think SAMSARA will do much better than VODKA although both lean on a catch word that is constantly repeated and musically they are a bit predictable. It seems like Malta will go for a singer that the public believes in his/her ability to deliver, so the safest and most obvious choice would be Claudia Faniello, just like Chiara was chosen to save the day last year. As for Lawrence Gray, no matter how vocally competent he sounds, this is the wrong song to display his talent as some people before me have already explained.
interesting that they put the favorites to compete first...
OMG! Malta! Not only did they NOT vote for the best songs, but now they place the best remaining song at #1!!!! She has to perform first of all. She's definitely not winning now.
lol.
please vote here on the Maltese finalists:

My parents have been to Zambujeira do Mar last year and really liked the place! I am totally off topic now too. Gute Nacht!
You should keep those memories from the Algarve. I stopped going there twenty years ago Well, I criss cross the Algarve en route to Spain and back, but that's it. Tell your parents to try the Alentejo coast line before it gets too crowded. It may be windier but it's lovely and the food is magnificent. Just go online and check it out. OK, I am completely off topic and sounding like a tourist operator!. I think ist's time to rest. Boa noite, Togravus.

Yes, Silver Clash in the final. I haven't got over that one yet. Well, there is still a slight chance that they will completely revamp the song they choose, but then there is so little to begin with whatever they chosse. My parents will be delighted to get greetings from Portugal because they have always loved Portugal. We spent our 6 week summer holidays in Albufeira from 1978 to 1982 ... in a time before the place was ruined by mass tourism. Spent an hour there in 2006 because I felt like having a trip down memory lane and left in terror. Nowadays I prefer Tavira or Silves when I visit the Algarve.
Togravus, please give my respects to your parents. I am also a fan of her voice. However, I agree that Malta should go for something edgier in 2010 and these 20 are not edgy material. Well, they'll have to make do with what they've chosen. (Silver Clash !!??
)
@ Danniela .
Which "staged" I mean the whole package... not only the actual "staging" but also these things you mention... it was just an awkward performance I think...
but anyhow I do believe that people read too much into the results because the song was not bad at all I think... and I think the results that year didn't reflect the song at all...
