WOW! Well done, Latvia!
This seems to be a strong final for such a small Nordic country. I am for Aisha, Trianas parks and Dons. Dipends how will they attract when will be on the stage!
good job, latvia, you did not deserve the last place in 2009, so I hope you change your luck in Oslo! I am in looove with the song by Trianas Parks, it's so daaark and twisted!!! I love it, I bet it's gonna be one of those songs from ESC that I listen to all year-round!!
Triānas Parks are the best song by far, every jury with taste will love this!!!!
Nothing amazing in the Latvian line up but there's 3 or 4 I sort of like. Kristina Zaharova and Ivo Grisnins-Grislis' songs are quite pleasant. I also like Kristin Karklu-Purina's song. It's understated but a little bit weird, (always good in my books,) and pleasant sounding.
Triana Park's song could be a potentially interesting Eurovision entry, but it lacks that certain something that connects it with a particular emotion or mood right now. It needs a LOT of work but I don't dislike it.
The others are just boring. Latvia's not going to do very well this year.
Great songs Latvia but H2o to win - great
Many familiar names here. I am not happy to see the return of Kristina Zaharova.
Lauris Reiniks - your morning lullaby
It's average and boring. Not much happens in it, but it's not ugly.
PeR - like a mouse
What a weird song and lyrics. It's silly and not very good.
H2O - when I close my eyes
It's very boring and slow. The "oaahoahoah" and drums in the middle are the best part... It doesn't get more exciting than that, lol.
Dons - my religion is freedom
Stupid lyrics and HORRRRRRRIBLE song. Yuck!
Projekts Konike - digi digi dong
Good, it's not in English. The song is actually kinda cool in an ugly way, but I don't like his voice, lol.
Aisha - what for? (only Mr. God knows why)
An obvious winner. *yawn* The songtitle is stupid. I'm sad to say this is one of the better ones in this NF because she's most likely to suck. The song is OK, but would have been better without the hand-claps (AGAIN!). It seems this year will be the trying-to-be-modern-year so everyone has to have the same shitty sound...
Kristīne Kārkla-Puriņa - rišti rašti
The song is nice, simple, pretty, but I'm afraid it'll be too anonymous and leave no great impact on people so she won't win. Plus she doesn't look like a bimbo, so yeah, Aisha is the runaway winner here.
Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis - because I love you
It's cute, very cute. I like it, it made me smile. Interesting how this guy (+ Iveta Baumane) had the best song in last years Latvian NF and this year he is also best.
Kristīna Zaharova - snow in July
Hallelujah, it's not a ballad. Her song sucks like her songs usually do.
Triānas parks - lullaby for my dreammate (diamond lullaby)
Hate it, the song is ugly, boring and goes nowhere.
No surprises here. I knew from before I listened to them that Kristīne Kārkla-Puriņa would be my favourite just by looking at the picture and title AND that Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis would also be my favourite just by the name and title. Those 2 are my favourites here, I hope one of them win, but I won't be that lucky.
1. Lauris Reiniks
2. Kristina Zaharova
3. Aisha
4. Dons
5. Digi Digi Dong
6. Ivo Grisnins-Grislis
7. Grupa ''h2o''
8. Grupa ''PeR''
9. Trianas Parks
10. Kristine Karkla
I've been listening to the Latvian songs and I must say that one needs to hear them a few times before coming to a conclusion. That may be a good sign! Here goes my top 3 in no particular order:
When I Close My Eyes
Music: Stanislavs Judins
Lyrics: Janis Strapcans
Performer: Grupa "h2o";
Rišti rašti
Music: Raimonds Tiguls
Lyrics: Valts Ernštreits
Performer: Kristine Karkla-Purina;
Snow in July
Music: Janis Strazds
Lyrics: Guntars Racs
Performer: Kristina Zaharova
I really like these songs. Boa sorte (good luck)! Go Latvia!
I really like song nr 1 and nr 4. Great songs. The other ones are quite okay as well.
Hope that Lauris will be the winner.
However Latvia songs have a very good average quality, though it's a bit funny to think to send an Eurosong contest a Brazilian-sound song reminiscing America's Ventura Highway riff...
Like a mouse has a very catchy and original sound, that's a reason why... it won't go any further, but it's the most interesting at first sound
aisha is the best!!!!very good song and beautiful girl....
1.Lauris: A potential song for my alarm bell, i think u can wake up really nice with this song. I like it. Nice english, nice intro nice ending. And the song is totally HIS, extra wow.
2.Grupa PeR: Chnage the singers, the the songtext and increase the amount of violinsand i might be able to love this! But like this its somehow average. Still better than most latvian esc-songs. ROFL @ doing Mieuw at the end of the song
3.Grupa h2o: RIght, take THESE lyrics and put them into the song of Grupa PeR, hehe. The middle part is superb, like this song too. Could grow on me.
4.Dons cool message, the song should be stronger. More bass more voice more wow-effect.
the usage of so many languages. Another possible-grower
Projekts Konike: FINALLY a song i dont like, the language is rofl though haha
AIsha: YAY at tune, more power to the refrain... hmm i need something more powerful at the end too
Kristine Another potential alarm clock bell for my mobile
, though it seems that this songs like many other in this NF have a urgent need of a (clearer) climax
Ivo : Rofl, anyone playing farmville on facebook?
, nice voice, still weakest song imo.
Kristina: This NF needs the theme "springs coming out" or "heartwarming". This song is not different. A want summer
, NOW... the song is ok...
Trianas park: Latvia is really good at lyrics this year
.
The song does not really appeal to me, though.
OVERALL: OMG, i swear, i WISH these ten songs would have been the past 10 entries of LATVIA, then latvia would not have been last in my personal overall-best-countries-list.
Super quality. Im HOPE that i will be able to see the NF and all the songs live. May the best song win, most of them are WAYYYYYY better than than most of latvians past songs at ESC....
Thank you Latvia, cause i feared i would have to dislike your music forever... *applauses*
I'm liking Kristina Zaharova's 'Snow in July'
I listen all songs and I prefer AISHA... other songs are awful...
the best of all 10 songs 1. AISHA - What for? Only Mr.God Knows Why [Remind me One song of 2008 - Maria Haukaas Storeng - Hold On Be Strong]
I hope aisha will win..
What's remarkable isn't the standard of the songs or the style of the music, but the slaughter of the English language that is taking place here. 'What For?' is the worst offender - a perfectly decent song, nice beat, well sung - but rendered completely laughable by the misuse of English. OK, now I sound like the teacherthat I am, sorry!
Horrible songs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but I don't think we are going to see latvia this year in the final.
Nothing really sood out! I normally spot something!
Fortunately, Cukmens is not in the list.
Aisha is the famous singer in my country and her song is amazing! Lai vinjai veicas!!!
It's good to see new styles entering NFs, and this is mainly through Baltic countries this year it seems to be
I don't think songs would do that well at ESC, but when they are so orginal, does it even matter?
My favourites I would say are Song 10, 6 and 7
Also Latvia's song last year has really grown on me and think it was vastly underrated now
Wow, not a single song I dislike among those 10. Thanks LTV! After listening to the songs only once, my favourites are 'Like a Mouse', What For?, and 'Lullaby for My Dreammate'.
Good Luck!
My favourite song in this stuff is Aisha's song!
I hope she will win, very good song!
I'm impressed with the level of the songs. So many alternative and different ones, it seems Latvia has decided to go back to the good old days!
"Your morning lullaby" is very good and Lauris sounds better than in 2003.
"Like a mouse" is fantastic! Excellent song!
"When I close my eyes" is also great! Didn't expect to hear something like that from Latvia.
"My religion is freedom" sounds so good and modern, something strange for an ESC national final.
"Digi digi dong" may sound silly as a title, but the song is very beautiful.
"What for" is also very original and has an interesting beat. Much better than other rnb songs in national finals.
"Rišti rašti" is also very good and different.
"Because I love you" is a bit old-fashioned but very good as well and not boring.
"Snow in July" also has a great beat and a good background melody.
"Lullaby for my dreammate" can't be described with words! It's something really different we had till now in national finals and really beautiful!
Overall, well done to Latvia!
Snow in July ... is a good little popsong ... and this could do quite well with a bit more of a rocky production.
1. Triānas parks - Lullaby For My Dreammate (As always HQ, this one is not for Eurovision!!, but its fantastic!!)
2. Kristīne Kārkla-Puriņa - Rišti rašti (OMG SO GOOD!!!)
3. Ivo Grīsniņš-Grīslis - Because I Love You (Good)
4. h2o - When I Close My Eyes (Good)
5. Dons - My Religion is Freedom (Normal)
6. Kristīna Zaharova - Snow in July (Normal)
7. Aisha - What For? (Boring!!)
8. PeR - Like A Mouse (Nothing Special)
9. Lauris Reiniks - Your Morning Lullaby (Bee)
10. Konike - Digi digi dong (Bee)
Lauris Reiniks would be a good choice too.
