As the European Mastership in Handball is running long, the show will start a bit later tonight.
Because of the handball game, the show will start at 22:10 CET tonight!
The show has just started!
Tonight's hosts Eva María Jónsdóttir and Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir welcome the audience and explain the procedure of tonight's show.
1. Arnar Jónsson - Þúsund stjörnur
Current esctoday.com poll result: 2nd (6.9%)
Arnar Jónsson, the first of tonight's five acts, treats us with a dreamy ballad in Icelandic language. His vocals are good and due to his charming outward appearance, he might get a lot of votes from the girls.
2. Sjonni Brink - Waterslide
Current esctoday.com poll result: =3rd (5.6%)
Sjonni Brink's Waterslide is a guitar and banjo dominated, acoustic song, encouraging its listeners to dream, suggesting that everything will eventually be alright. An easy listening tune that might not be an obvious contender for the Icelandic ticket to Eurovision. Sjonni and company are performing barefoot on stools, delievering a very laid-back performance.
3. Hera Björk - Je ne sais quoi
Current esctoday.com poll result: 1st (79.2%)
This is the entry everybody, fans and critics alike, has been waiting for: Hera Björk, already a well- known artist in the world of Eurovision due to her role as backing vocalist for the Icelandic Eurovision entries of 2008 and 2009, as well as her participation in last year's Danish final with the song Someday, resulting in 2nd place, is trying to represent her native country with the song Je ne sais quoi. Hera wrote the song together with Örlygur Smári, composer of the Icelandic entries of 2000 and 2008- indeed, the resemblence to the 2008 song This is my life in style is undeniable. It's a quite typical Euro- dance song, lacking a bit in originality. However, this genre is usually very popular among the fans of Eurovision and Hera is the clear favourite not only to qualify but to win the ticket to Oslo. The song talks about overcoming one's sadness through the presence of a person who has that inexplicable special something. As expected, Hera's vocal performance is faultless. Undoubtedly, Hera Björk will advance to the final with flying colours.
4. Steinarr Logi Nesheim - Every word
Current esctoday.com poll result: 5th (2.8%)
Steinarr Logi Nesheim is singing an ordinary pop song about being careful about one's choice of words, since things once said can't be taken back. The song itself probably is too indifferent to make any impact tonight. The backing vocalists are slightly out-of-tune.
5. Anna Hlín - Komdu á morgun til mín
Current esctoday.com poll result: =3rd (5.6%)
Anna Hlín performs a slow jazz song in the Icelandic language. Despite good vocals, it doesn't seem very likely that she will qualify with this, however, the Icelandic audience is always good for surprises. In both of the previous semi finals, one song in the Icelandic language was able to win a ticket to the final, distinctly standing out from the rest in terms of style.
This concludes tonight's performances. Our poll will be closed in five minutes.
Our poll is closed now. You can find the updated results above.
The results are coming in.
Hera Björk to the final!
Sjonni Brink to the final!

Wow!! 12 points to Hera and her song. The best of all the participants in all the semifinalist. I'd love to see her in Oslo representing Iceland
I'd had prefered seing Anna in the finals instead of Sjonni Brink
Hope Hera wins her ticket to Oslo. Good luck to Iceland
I'm really glad Waterslide made it, but I don't like the staging. Hardly Icelandic is it?
Hera's doing nothing for me. I'm prepared to accept her as the Icelandic entry, but right now it's no better than Il Pleut De L'or. Face it, it's just a simple typical Eurovision song. I know there'll be a new version though so hopefully that will improve it.
I really like Hera and she has such a good voice but give her a decent song!! this one is Eurovision paint-it-by-numbers , heard it all before, and is no Eurovision winner IMHO (in my humble opinion!), the other finalist is sweet but nothing special..
Pity, Iceland has missed its chance to shine in Oslo. Welcome to another mediocre up-tempo song...

I guess that Xavier Naidoo wouldn't be chosen to represent Germany even if he was interested in ESC because he is a rather controversial innsue in Germany. 50 % love him and 50 % hate him because of the rather sentimental Christianity he keeps propagating. And thanks for cheering me up. As good old Cicero (not Roger, the other one) said some years ago: Dum spiro spero!
i hope that Hera Björk will go to Oslo
Yes Hera is in Final
I hope she win and sing for Iceland at the esc
regards
pasi
12 Points for Hera and her Song *.*
Anna derserved it! Shame, I say.
@Paschalis
Me too!
I liked Waterslide so I'm glad it qualified. Shame about Anna, she was so good.
wohoo Hera will go to Oslo!
@ Jonathan Hendrickx
yeah it was johanna
she was advertising what looked like bitesize shredded wheat, but icelandic
YEY! "Waterslide" made it!
@togravus
Who knows, maybe you will get it in the next couple of years too. I still think MGP could improve a lot and take less ideas from MF, lol. I think the Idol-like shows for Germany look interesting. The trailer showed at least 2 singers that weren't so bad. In one of them the guy with a green shirt, in the other the girl with the red shirt. I hope they are among the 20 they chose.
At least the shows will be interesting to watch. I can't wait to see Xavier Naidoo and Sasha. I used to love Sasha a lot before, lol. I have his 3 first albums.
I also have CD's with Xavier/Söhne Mannheims, Glashaus and Reamonn so I am obviously a fan of them and look forward to seeing them there. My dream would be to see Xavier sing for Germany, but that would probably never happen. Maybe he could write a song though.
Anyway, good night to you, I am leaving - got a long exciting tennis night ahead of me!
@ Paschalis:
Mine too!
@ Karl Lewis
True, "Waterslide" is my most favorite and "Je ne sais quoi" my most hated
You need a Brin(c)k to beat Hera.
