Luta assim não da

Leading song disqualified from Festival da Canção

The song that until this afternoon was leading the online voting stage of Festival da Canção, Luta assim não da, by Homens da Luta, has been disqualified because it was found out to have been performed prior to the Portuguese national selection for Eurovision. Consequently, the act does no longer appear on the official RTP voting website.

The public broadcaster RTP clearly states in the rules for Festival da Canção that "song proposals must be unique and unpublished, not marketed nor presented in public". RTP also reserves the right to replace the eliminated entry with another one, according to the broadcaster's regulations.

As a result, 29 songs remain in the race. You can listen to them here .

This is the song to face disqualification in Portugal - Luta assim não da, by Homens da Luta:

In 2008 we sent a very beautiful ballad but the overrated idiot from Russia won, with a song so forgettable that if you ask someone the melody, they won't remember it. But people remember the melody of Senhora do Mar. That is the meaning of a real, good song my friend. We always choose the best songs in our selections, the rest of Europe doesn't see that unfortunately.

Pfff it has nothing to do with if you send another ballad or not. It has to do with if you send the best song in your selection which you have not done many times before and you get result according to that. And remember that we have 50% jury vote now.

I 100% agree with Jared Silverstone! This song is really going to be talked about, it is just amazing and exactly what Eurovision fans love, it's got a catchy melody, and it sounds like a song that is playing over the radio in the hot Mediterranean sun or in the clubs. If we send another boring ballad or ethnic sounding song we will get mid-table status again. If you can't beat em, join em!!

If they choose Cantar por mim then Portugal will do it again not choosing the best song and get a result according to that.
É Assim que as Coisas São is by far my pick and Contra Tudo e Todos comes second(classic ballad like we used to have in Eurovision over 10 years ago).

After hearing all the songs several times, my favourite is now (no doubt)...

CATARINA PEREIRA - Canta por mim

Best song from the songs that are already chosen by some countries.

This year, I think Portugal will be in the favourites list, before Eurovision... as Norway and Turkey were last year.

Remember, last year - Alexander Rybak and Hadise were the most talked names.

This year, it will be all about Catarina.

Portugal, choose wisely!

I'm beginning to feel like I'm alone in a desert. Not many seem to like my favorite ones :(
I found É assim que as coisas são with The Agency to be way far the best song. The singer Pino has a voice like a angel. Definitely one of the most beautiful voices I've heard in Eurovision. Claudisable has also a very strong classic ballad. The rest is yuck to say at least. But Portugal has dismissed many great songs in their national final so they are as likely to do it once more. And their result is according to that. Not qualified to the final 2004-2007 and only been 4 times in top 10 since 1990.

I like O Amor nao Sabe - pure class. An honest, stripped-down guitar song would at least have some musical integrity amidst the usual girating and fireworks and posing and preening. It'll never win, but who cares? It's better to send a good song (and they hardly ever win as we all know).

I did not like this song at all. There's others much better than this one

I love love love love Catarina- Canta por mim! Ive heard it about 5 times now and it is very catchy! Should do well, but only if RTP markets the song aggresively in the Balkans, Greece/Turkey and the ex-Soviet states. And she's attractive which is a bonus.

I also liked Ouro (my second favourite), Chuva (underrated song I think by Nucha, it is actually a very good sounding song melodically), and Meu Coracao nao e meu.

Hope we get a Top 5 placing this year pls pls pls!

Good news - hope they won't be able to replace it with another " joke " entry" !! Catarina for Oslo! Great song, great singer and composers - this will go very far for sure and qualify Portugal for the final again, Homens da Luta won't!!

Maybe they thought that Homens da Luta could create a little INTEREST in FdC. They are certainly way more interesting than the others and they had a great, LIVELY song with a different sound and they can perform. :) Plus it is so boring to always see serious, boring, pop songs about love in Eurovision. "Joke entries" are fun and are usually catchy, harmless fun for the most part as long as they don't sink as low and mock like Dustin the Turkey. This isn't San Remo after all.

Tiago Varela,

One thing is true, it's difficult to form an opinion about the songs after hearing only a snippet. Ouro have one of my favourites numbers, but I like several others that I've listed on a previous post. Nina's song is probably the best for me, but I need to listen to the full songs and watch their live performances.

'Canta para mim' is very unoriginal and tepid. Believe me when I say that I was eager to like the song. I know that Catarina sings well and that she looks great (I hope and pray that she won't go for a vulgar oufit), but that song has no character at all. It's going to be forgotten after it is heard, because that type of song has been around for ever in ESC. Portugal deserves better.

you must understand that in Portugal seems that no one cares about eurovision ...and it´s seen as a bad and crap thing. So that is why this crap song was in the front row...and would eventualy win... That´s why Portuga will never win Eurovision because they have this deprecaitive aproach towards Eurovision. And In Spain is the same thing, no one cares anymore about Eurovision in Iberia!

I personally can't understand what you guys see in Ouro song ... really i tried to listen to it like 1000 times to understand but i cant ... The song is bad sorry people.

The songs that i keep listen over and over are Nina Pinto, Nucha, Catarina and Joana Anta and so these ones are my favs ...

The rest or is just fine or bad ...

Also like to add that the songs online are just demos they aren't the final version that will be presented on the semis and on the final ... thats why some songs are simple and bland ...

Im probably going to vote in Catarina, for many reasons. Andrej Babic and Carlos Coelho are one of the reasons, they know eurovision and can organize a great stage performance. Catarina has a nice voice and also great looks (yes thats also importante unfortunatly). Then the song although still a demo and so still very simple in the arragements is a nice and catchy uptempo song that europe usually likes (even if not a killer is still a nice song). Also the song has portuguese guitar on it which is great and gives it a special portuguese flavour to it. The song is very mediterranean also a plus. I don't see any reasons why the portuguese people shouldn't vote in it.

I wouldn't mind if any of my favs wins over catarina, but lets face it, its the only festive song and portugal has sent for 2 years in a row low pace songs, lets change a bit.

Arco-íris dentro de mim' needs more votes!

I don't know what everyone sees in Canta Por Mim. It's about as simple as you can get. Danca Comigo was better.

I can see Catarina winning and acheiving a fantastic result for Portugal in Oslo.

The leading song disqualified from the online voting !?!?!?!?!? YEEEEEEEEEESSS !! thanks God !! it was a really RTP circus contest !! i don't understant why RTP are still spending money for eurovision with this kind of songs without a victory in 45 years lol !!!!

Exactly, Adérito. The jury should never have chosen them. They are a valid proposal in their own right, but not for FdC and ESC. I suppose they (the jury) were trying to get people's attention, I don't know. I am tired. Boa noite, everyone.
