Me too. I hope that, after the performance on the semi final, Catarina will make people vote for her in the final.
She has always that provocative and still cute eyed that I love.
I hope that song and that girl go to Oslo. I predict a good journey for Catarina, I don't know why.
And I always get amazed by the photo on this video. Gosh!

Still hope for Catarina!
in my view none of all songs will have any change to win , again RTP is not working well, and again Portugal will have one more year increasing bad reputation in ESC. Carlos Coelho and Babic made a fantastic job with Senhora do Mar, this year they are presenting an old formula (sheet formula in my view) of esc music, nothing new with quality which it is a shame!
In my opinion, it's always better to have a jury or 'experts' making a preselection, like in the Portuguese case. Their criteria might be not be the best and the songs they choose could be average. But they exclude the freak acts, at least. Look what's happening right now in the Spanish voting. The Neandethals from a car forum are voting like crazy for the crappiest songs to mock on Eurovision. I hope it's the last year of this 'open voting'. Most of them (340, more or less like in Portugal) are CRAP! I'd save 20/25, no more than that. So, I think the Portuguese jury can't be that wrong.
Nina Pinto for the win!
She's not just an amazing singress, but wonderful friend and person!
meant to write Catarina...
Hope for Cararina or Nina to Oslo!
Good luck Portugal!
Lovely Catarina sings Canta Por Mim

I'm sorry, but I'm in love with this girl... lol
She's really cute but in a simple and fresh way that I like... and I actually like her voice.
It will be so sad if Portugal let this entry become unknown...
I'm excited for how they're gonna perform it... it must go to Oslo... at least I hope so!
Nina to Oslo! It´s poetic what she has done!
Filipa Azevedo can still surprise me though, because i´m sure she´ll grab the end of the song with her beautiful and powefull voice!
Let´s see the full monty in the FdC to decide.
People are so pessimistic ... Portuguese people are the worst, geees. Lets relax and enjoy the show. We have all the reasons to be proud. We will have 2 semi finals and a final on a 10.000 seat venue, how many esc contries can say the same? Regarding the songs itselfs there are many diferent genres and we all at least love/like one of them. We have lots and lots of foreigner fans voting and commenting in the portuguese national selection. I mean, we only have reasons to be proud and happy. The rest is, well ... politics.
Hope Nucha or Catarina wins ...
PPL believe me If I say that this year FdC is not oldfashioned and has different kinds of songs, then It really isn't!!
I
2010 FdC and I have 5 wishes for win (totally different songs), one of them must happen............
Adérito
Well, yes with juries one never knows, but that is part of their charm. My objection to televoting has always been that the results were terribly boring and predictable. ESC has never been fair and will never be, but I expect it to be at least entertaining, voting included.
I will only risk one guess regarding juries: they won't like Catarina's song.
@ Togravus
Yes, that's exactly my point.
Last year the Belgian juri gave 10 points to Flor-de-Lis, which meant that in the end Portugal got 6 points from Belgium, which is more or less what Portugal would have gotten with 100% televoting (maybe a bit more). This year Portugal can't count on Andorra, and may have to forget receiving any points from BEL-NED-GER due to 50%-50%. Let's face it, it'll be tougher to qualify for the final. And i'm not so sure the juri will be keen on voting for Portugal...(even if they have a good song).
Adérito
Yes, I know, we have Portuguese diaspora in Germany, too. But I was talking diaspora Turkish or Greek style here, or neighbour voting à la ex USSR, Scandinavia ... Switzerland and France are the only two countries Portugal can rely on diaspora wise, now that Andorra is gone.
Togravus, I would say that the urban areas are more americanized, specially the younger generations. And yes, more so than in Spain.
@ Togravus Ceterum
"Btw, Portugal has been the most successful country without diaspora or block voting since 2007. "
Not true. Much of the Portugal's recent relative success came from the Portuguese diaspora. These last 3 years Portugal has had 25-40 points from them. It's not enough to reach TOP10, but it helps.
Shevek
I don't want to start a discussion, but just give an opinon from outside, and since I live in one of the most americanised countries in the world, it might be of some worth. When I am travelling in Spain and Portugal, which I do almost every year, I always notice that Portugal seems to be much more under US-American cultural influence than Spain, especially central Portugal (Lisbon, Estremadura, Ribatejo). The Alentejo is another matter altogether though. Well, one expects it to be, doesn't one? It is além after all ...
David and Togravus, I agree that things are getting better since 2007. This is my first ESC season as a member of ESC Today and I am glad to know that fellow members are showing more interest in FdC and the Portuguese hopefuls.
Well, Adérito, as to subject of Portugal being a British and American cultural (I gather) colony, I would extend that remark to almost every other region of the planet. I would refer to the Portuguese market small size as one of the main reasons for our lack of international reach. In order fo an artist to be achieve great commercial success he, she or they have to have the backing of a multinational label. To tell you the truth, I think that Portugal should invest more in its links with Africa and Brasil because it is a market with millions of Portuguese speaking people. That does not mean that RTP should quit ESC. On the contrary,I would love to see Portugal send a song to ESC with strong African influences and I could not care less about what the final placing would be.
I am with you on the Rybak issue. I never could understand all the fuss. Iceland 09 and Estonia 09 were far better entries.

I couldn't agree more. FdC has improved little by little since 2007. It won't be an out of nowhere straight to the top thing for Portugal like Lordi did for Finland in 2006, but both professionalism and the quality of the FdC songs have become better every year since 2007.
And I think that some of you guys are far too pessimistic. Just have a look at the comments on FdC from all over Europe on esctoday. I remember adjectives like 'good', 'great', 'nice', and even one 'awesome' to describe this year's 30 songs. That has been unheard of before. Yes, people liked Vânia's song in 2008 and Flor-de-lis or Luciana (don't understand why anyone liked Luciana's song but that is not the point) last year, but this year 10 to 15 songs have recieved positive comments. People are actually discussing the Portuguese songs, whereas they more or less only dissed them with very few exceptions before. Moreover, things have been changing in better hidden places too. I have noticed that a number of esctoday members have put Portugal on their list o ffavourite ESC countries over the last two years. Well, small changes, I know, but still changes that give reason to be optimistic. I am confident that we will see really good results soon if RTP keeps making an effort! Btw, Portugal has been the most successful country without diaspora or block voting since 2007. Just look at the results of Dutch, Belgian, German, French, Maltese, or Swiss entries.
@ Adérito,
I reiterate my congratulations on your great insights. The international music industry being the mess it has become, though, I do not expect miracles anymore. But again, this is ESC and I can't give up hope in the -somewhat- wider offer that results from many countries choosing (democratically or otherwise) among their own. I did give up hope in my country of origin, but I still like to believe the ESC is worth all this time and effort -our own, I mean
@ David Lopez,
It is very good to read your faithful and hopeful comments (even when I do not completely agree with them). I join you in your optimism, and let's all trust the Portuguese NF, se Deus quiser, will be as transparent and pretty as you are
Parabéns para todos and keep it up!
@ David Lopez
I'm Portuguese. ;-) And for a while i lived on Av. 5 Outubro, not so far from the old RTP¨headquarters and from Campo Pequeno.
@ Shevek Urras & Marcelo Nayar
"it is not that every single candidate has to be "modern"; it is more like a matter of knowing what appeals and what might offer that 'something' that eurofans (and music fans in general) could choose."
"Somewhat old fashioned, yes. As Marcelo wrote, that is not necessarily a bad thing; after all ESC caters to a wide variety of audiences."
YES, you 2 have a point there. I always tend to forget that...
I was very surprised with Alexander Rybak's success last year, for instance. Not that the song was bad, but it was way too déjà vu IMO.
@ Shevek Urras
I always feel very disappointed that Portuguese artists (not just Eurovision artists) don't have the same success and don't lead international careers like the Scandinavian artists. Come on, Portugal is practically a British or an American colony. Why doesn't that pay???? Why doesn't that make it easier to learn from them?
That's why i am so proud and so glad with Buraka Som Sistema's relative international success. Let's see if they can come up with another album that improves their success. But my point is: right now there should be 2 or 3 new BBS ready to follow their path. Are there?
This leads to another point: are there many music schools in PT? How good are they? How can anyone that wants to be an artist improve his musical skills? Without eggs, you can't make an omelette, isn't it?
Here's the venue of Festival da Canção:

@Aderito
I have faith that at least one of these 30 will qualify and end up in top 10. I have faith in FdC, i kind of lost it after 1996 but i regained it in 2008 and surprisingly for the 3rd year in a row i still have it
I like Babic's song a lot and i also like Ouro, hopefully one of these will win. These are the only ones i think can make an impact on stage, of course i'll still have to wait for the full versions.
And i'm very optimistic towards the future, it's obvious that we improved in the last 3 years... babysteps though, but this year the fact that we have 2 semis and especially because of that beautiful venue that is Campo Pequeno; i consider it excelent improvement!
@ David Lopez
I thought too that this 30 song selection was very very bad. Do you need me to prove it?: i don't like the Babic song, but still i put it on the side of the better ones, because they were so few... But still i've been trying not to make very harsh comments on the songs, because maybe they can still improve and above all because we haven't seen the live performances yet... Of course i haven't listened to the other 390 songs, so i can't guarantee THESE were really the best ones... But let's have some faith on those 4 heads, shall we? There's nothing else we can do, isn't it?
