I agree with your comment 100%.
To put it mildly, I really did not like the song that won last year.

For me, ESC 2006 ATHENS was a very strong year
because it included this amazing R&B song:
Andorra 2006 - Jennifer - Sense tu
not to mention MY favourite ESC song ever:
( Greece 2006 - Everything - Anna Vissi )

If her AMAZING performance did not move you,
then YOU have a heart of stone...
I know I may be biased, but I love to support Greece's entries.
I mean, honestly...
I know you still remember Kalomira
with her "Secret Combination" in 2008!!!
She is lovely, bubbly and her performance
was absolutely flawless and fabulous.
WOW!!!
Who could forget those UNIQUE performances
of Sakis Rouvas
with "Shake It" in 2004
and with "This is our night" in 2009?????
SIMPLY OUTSTANDING.-
He brought those venues down
with the cheering crowds!
The spotlight adores him.
The audience reacts to him.
He is a true S*T*A*R!!!
TO KEITH TIMMONS:
The top5 results are:
1-Serbia 2004
2-France 2009
3-Greece 2005
4-Cyprus 2004
5-Portugal 2008
I agree Jan - that's why my post ends with IMO - that's short for IN MY OPINION
You're free to love those songs as much as you want - I will not.
And if I wanted to be disrespectful you would have seen words such as "rubbish" and "Sirusho" in the same sentence
Igor T.
"Hayko is just a bit less bad than the others"
1000 men 1000 taste in music! But try to be a little bit respectful in your words! From your words I can understand that Armenia dint send but "rubish" to eurovision??????? I don't think so! Please have a look at the link and tell me what is "the bad" in the entry????
http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=lMi7Tp0SoMU
You said that you like you like Macedonia (06) but that entry is so close to Armenia (08) but the show of Armenia (08) much more proffessional and with taste!
If you don;t like a song it doesn't mean that it is bad, it means that it's not in your taste!
appendix - I actually like none of Maltese, Israeli and Spanish entries, nor the Slovak one. Also, I'm not too fond of Armenian songs either (Hayko is just a bit less bad than the others), and the same goes for Azerbaijan, but I had to write something
Other mentioned song I really like.
On the other hand there's more than one good songs in the last decade, apart from mentioned ones: from France (09, 07), Germany (04, 05), Switzerland (05), Moldova (05), Albania (08), Hungary (05), Estonia (00), Latvia (06), Russia (00, 01 - cute in a weird way, 09), Macedonia (06), Bulgaria (05, 08 - actually, it seems that I like all of their entries except last year's), Romania (03 - Luminita had excellent performance, but song itself is overrtated, same as Tornero)
IMO
@w s
my mistake - i menat The Netherlands 2003
No it is not great. It is garbage, sung by a very mediocre singer.
Charlotte Perelli "Hero" is GREAT song!! Lina it's not crap!
But maybe I will put Malena Ernman instead too....
omg!i forgot Cyprus 2004 and 2007(i love you Evridiki) , Serbia 2007 , France 2003, Norway 2008...And may have forgotten others too...
Some entries are indeed too OGAE...lolBut there is only one greek entry there so i don't know why all this bashing! And may i remind to some fellows in here that "my number one" is not the only 00's winner in the list.Turkey 2003 is there also!Serbia 2004,Israel 2008, Greece 2001,Turkey 2003,Belgium 2003, Bosnia 2006, Russia 2006, Estonia 2009, France 2009,Norway 2009 ,Israel 2005, France 2001 are my favourite entries...If i forgot someone, and i am sure i did,i will come back!
Swedish 2009 or 2004 must be in that list and not " Hero " ! Charlote song distroey finalist list beacuse all the other songs deserve to be there exept that crap " Hero " !
@Igor T, the Netherlands weren't in the 2002 contest.
