only NUNO & FABIA - AMAR can win at eurovision
very good song so pls vote for them
Thank you for the link Shevek!
Just listened to the whole of Ouro's song, i really quite like it. Though i think some parts could still be improved, like 1 minute 30 seconds into the song it has a weird change in the music, almost as if a bit of music is missing, which does not sound too good. I quite like the change in music at 1 minute 46 just before the girl starts to sing where its almost just percussion instruments, but they should probably make that bit a bit longer and get rid of the bit just before it where the melody gets a bit faster. Not too keen on the last 30 seconds of the song. The girl trying to do the big notes needs to be better and sing very well live.
Potentially a very good song and very good entry to Eurovision, not like anything Portugal has sent before.
For me from what I have heard it's getting too close to call between Ouro and Ctarina's songs. I think for now Catarina has the edge for me but I may change my mind once I hear the whole song for Catarina.
Two very good potential songs for portugal, either of which could do very well I think given a good performance. Let's hope it's one of the two who wins!
You're welcome, Paulo Carreira. I agree, Ouro's song's fate will depend on their live performance and their stage presentation. This goes for every song actually, but we'll see how these girls manage.
@Sevek Urras
Thank you for the site, thanks to you I was able to listen to Ouros song...
I still think that is a very nice song.... I wasn't as impressed with the second half of the song as I was with the first half, but I'm still looking forward to see them live, it's the type of song that usualy works well on stage...
"1. The song becomes more and more conventional after 1:30 minutes, very standard ESC in structure.
2. If I had any influence on their performance, I would let the girl who sings the first verses (the one with a voice a bit like Teresa Salgueiro's) sing all the verses. The second girl's voice sounds a bit bland if she sings alone."
Yes, Togravus, you make every sense. It is indeed a traditional ESC song in structure and that may not be a negative factor in itself, as long as the song is well sung and well built, reflecting the local culture. After all ESC is a game and there's no harm in trying to aim for a better result if one thinks that this is the best way to achieve it. My point is that Ouro's song is not 'schlager' (I am not sure what this word means). About the voices: I actually like the contrast between the voices and I am hoping they can pull it off live.
José Barbosa, you can find Ouro's song (and many others) here:

i've just found the full version of ouro... and i love it...
1-catarina pereira
2-ouro
3-vanessa
4-evelyne
5-6 po meis douzia
Bad running order for Ouro.
And no Homens...
Doesn't seem likely that one of my favourites will make it here either.
I also heard the Albanian song in English and I don't like it. Her accent is bad and it sounded better in Albanian. Although I don't really care what language she will sing it in, I don't like the song much either way.

the final note its very good! Filipa is a great young singer! It will promise a good live!
Thanks, Marko, I see ... I am off now. Goodnight!
Togravus
Jan van Dijck - Portugal 1990 - Nucha!!
That must be closer to typical esc entry!
Dear Iwona
You can always be honest with me. (Now you have to add some emoticon again to make this post complete ...) Who is the composer? I didn't check and don't have the time right now. Still working ... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Togravus
I expected smth like that tbh when i saw who is composer of ouro's song!
Where can you hear the whole song? or which songs can you hear?
Shevek
I have listened to Ouro's song now too, and I have to admit that I am a bit disappointed. I liked the snippet better for the following reason:
1. The song becomes more and more conventional after 1:30 minutes, very standard ESC in structure.
2. If I had any influence on their performance, I would let the girl who sings the first verses (the one with a voice a bit like Teresa Salgueiro's) sing all the verses. The second girl's voice sounds a bit bland if she sings alone.
Do I make any sense?
José Barbosa, I will have to wait fo the full songs in order to be able to have a more definitive opinion on any song. We agree on one thing: Ouro are a very strong contestant (I've heard their song in full and it is really good).
It should really be between Catarina or Ouro, if anyone else wins it will be like the crap they sent with that girl band who won a few years back because of the judges. Can't remember what they were even called just that it was a fiasco in the end... We have been in a recession and it's been depressing enough, so we don't need Nina depressing us even more with that song!
Come on portugal vote Catarina or Ouro, let's bring this baby home!!! I actually think this year we stand a good chance of making top 10 again with either of those songs, if worked on and sang well.
We also need to be in a good position if we get to the final, so the draw for the final would be important, that's why Vania didn't do too well in the final...
I think some people are missing the point with Catarina's song. it is very original in terms of where Portugal and Eurovision is concerned, yes other countries have done it before, some with more success than others, but Portugal has never used the type of song Catarina has this year, where as the remaining songs are very unoriginal for Portuguese standards. It's all the same old crap, they have had before in FDC. The only other songs which stand out as real contenders are Ouro and perhaps Seis po meia duzia, with the last one being a bit reminiscent of what we had last year.
Yes Nina's song may be well sung, let's wait and see about that, and we have not heard the whole song yet but it just won't work in Eurovision terms, it sounds too depressing and that wailing in parts just won't work in Europe, don't care what anybody says, it's neither a great ballad nor a catchy tune.
So to me best options are Catarina or Ouro. Though it may not be very original in Eurovision terms, dance music is very in at the moment and all over the charts, and Ouro is more original and a lot less depressing than Nina's song.
I was answering Paulo's last post.
"I personaly think that this is the best selection that Portugal has had in a very long time..."
I am waiting for the full songs, but I suspect you may be right. As for Catarina's song, I have to say that it is not my cup of tea and of course this is a subjective assessment. We've been hearing songs like this in ESC since forever. I think that each country should go for more innovative material in ESC terms. Have you checked the Estonian hopefuls? Those songs are an example of what I mean.
I must go now. I probably won't come back until tomorrow to check on the Spanish surreal experience.
@Shevek Urras
"Catarina's song is very unoriginal imo"... I agree, nothing really new here, but that doesn't take away the quality of the song, catchy tune with some portuguese elements (I really think that the final version will have more portuguese sounds) poetic words, nice voice.... But then again, are there any songs in this selection that are 100% original ?, that can't be compared to anything we heard before??? still, doesn't take away from the quality of the songs... I personaly think that this is the best selection that Portugal has had in a very long time...
Thanks for the link, Marko. Indeed, she knows how to sing. I never watch that TV show, so I did not know that she had performed this song live.
FILIPA AZEVEDO - singing live for Haiti!! AMAZING....

Ouro's song I will never try in English, but Azavedo's I deffinetly will!!
On YT Catarina Pereira is so popular, by Portuguese ppl and by foreigners, all ppl love her song!!
According to other ESC Today members Ouro and Catarina are very popular. Catarina's song is very unoriginal imo, though. We'll see.
Marko, I am waiting to hear the full songs in order to be able to assess them more accurately. Until now, I have only heard Ouro's song in full and it is very good. These singers really do have a real chance of getting a top placing.
You know waht I think about singing in a language other than Portuguese...
YAYAY Azavedo is sooo AMAZING!!!
I think she can be TOP 5 for Portugal in ESC, but probably with this song in English!!
