Belgium: Song presentation on March 7th

Belgian broadcaster, VRT, announced today that the presentation of the song that Tom Dice will sing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 will be revealed on Sunday, March 7th.

In Belgium, the choice of choosing the Eurovision Song Contest entry for the country rotates year on year between two broadcasters: Walloon broadcaster RTBF and Flemish broadcaster VRT respectively. 2010 sees the turn of VRT. The broadcaster chose Tom Dice internally at the end of last year and he will present the song he will sing on a special show called Eurosong 2010: een song voor Tom Dice! The show will be presented by Bart Peeters and broadcast live from Studio 5 of the broadcast centre at 21:20 CET on één.

Tom Dice (real name: Tom Eeckhout) is a young, Flemish singer-songwriter. He was born on November 25th, 1989 and lives in East Flanders, Eeklo. The 20 year old singer's passion for music started when he was 8 years old. At the age of 12, he composed his first song. He was part of a band named The Dice, but decided to go solo afterwards. He is more well known for participating in the Belgian edition of The X-Factor in 2008 where was the runner-up. Since then, he released his single Bleeding Love.

I can't judge until I hear the proper song. Watching old videos give you an idea about his voice but it doesn't mean the ESC song will be in the same style. Anyway, I tend to like the RTBF entries more! :P

I like his voice but think that his accent is rather annoying. It is this European guy wants to sound sooooooo American thing once more. Totally fake imo. Cyril did the same in Germany's first USFO heat.

Best of luck Belgium!
This guy has a good voice so fingers crossed for a decent song.

I hope for something not too typical pop, a song more in the style of The Script or something would suit him

OMG that would be too awesome! The Script are one of my favourite (or my favourite) bands, and my most played song is written by the Script, so anything in their style would be fantastic :) http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=V3N5CsXYlCk - If it will be anything like this i'm pretty sure Belgium have got my vote this year.

I can't wait to hear his song. I hope he doesn't sound too "boyband-like" like on "Bleeding Love", but some of his other performances on X Factor were great. I hope for something not too typical pop, a song more in the style of The Script or something would suit him. :)

I know English isn't his first language and no his accent isn't British. He sounds American in just SOME parts of the song is what I meant to say. ;)

@Mr Sir: Of course his English isn't perfect, he's Belgian. Surely you're not arguing his accent is British; then I recommend you take up linguistics.

He has a nice voice and good pronunciation but with one or two slip-ups in this clip. :) (And Keith Timmons, we Americans don't say BleeTHin love like he did in that video.) :P

I smell James Fox mk. II

Fingers crossed Belgium make an effort for a change.

I like him a lot. A minimalistic lo-fi song with acoustic guitar a la Germany 04 could do miracles. Good luck!

Keith
I can't stand that kind of performance too, but why is so important if he's straight!? LOL :D :D

Bleeding Love is such a great song, Belgium would be walking away witha victory if they could have had him sing that!

I hope our broadcaster will take the right decision and let's the audience choose which song Tom will sing for our country in Oslo!
[7th March... still so far away :( :(]
Veel geluk Tom :D :D :D :D

This is precisely the kind of music I can't stand. A young, straight male with an acoustic guitar and an American accent singing a cover of a vapid girliepop song with full on emotion as if it were Shakespeare. These singers usually do well in American Idol, he might even do well in Eurovision, but I already have a sneaking suspicion that Belgium will end up 39th on my own ranking this year. The first artist of the year that I intensely dislike.

I had forgotten about this guy so I checked out some of his youtube videos from x factor. He's very good in ballads. If the song is good, I have high hopes for Tom.
Belgium made a good choice, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the song will be as good as the singer.
The language doesn't matter for me. His English is very good anyway.

I'm properly excited about Belgium this year, it better be decent! :P I hope it's something like John Mayer's "Who says".

I'm hoping for something in English. A good pop song please such as "We've got the World Tonight" Ireland 2003 or "All Night Long" Denmark 2008 :)
