Örnsköldsvik - Feb 6th

Sweden: First Melodifestivalen semi songs online

One minute clips of the eight songs competing in the first semi final of Melodifestivalen 2010 tomorrow in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden are now available to listen to on the national broadcaster, SVT's website. The songs will compete for two places in the national final at Globen on March 13th.

Clips of the eight songs competing this week are now available to listen to online. The show tomorrow night starts at 20:00 CET and will be broadcast live on SVT1, SVT World, Sverige Radio 4 and an online webcast.

To listen to the song clips on the SVT website, click on the artist and songs below:

  1. Ola - Unstoppable
  2. Jenny Silver - A Place To Stay
  3. Linda Pritchard - You're Making Me Hot-Hot-Hot
  4. Pain Of Salvation - Road Salt
  5. Anders Ekborg - The Saviour
  6. Jessica Andersson - I Did It For Love
  7. Frispråkarn - Singel
  8. Salem Al Fakir - Keep On Walking
Major changes in the voting of the contest will be implemented in 2010: in the semi-finals the song with the most votes will progress direct to the final, and will not participate in the second round of the semi-final, in which the remaining top 4 songs battle again for a place in the final and in the Andra Chansen round - the 2nd placed song progressing to the final and the 3rd and 4th placed songs progressing to Andra Chansen. In the final, the original 11 regional juries of Sweden seen in past contests will be abolished, and replaced by 11 new juries - five of which are Swedish, and six of which are European, giving an even distribution into the new, enlarged Europe now participating in the Eurovision Song Contest. The international jury will still be in the contest, but they will only be the 12th jury in the grand final voting process. In Andra Chansen, the voting has unchanged, there will be two rounds of duels, with the winners of each duel proceeding to the Final to be held on Saturday, March 13th in the Globen, Stockholm.

Sweden...each year I rely on you to give me a dose of good old fashioned schlager. This collection of songs disappoints me greatly. If I had to choose the two strongest, I'd go for the two ballads...Jessica and Pain of Salvation.

Alcazar - do NOT let me down!

And now the songs go all american ...

I really can't see why people think all the songs are bad? :S they are not at all ..... no NF tonight have good songs, the only good song for Norway is didrik but for me when I have heard it again is quiet boring :S .... iceland nahhhh, and denmark, I wasen't very impressed by.

I think Pain Of Salvation -" Road Salt" is definitively through !!! Although this is not the whole song and I haven't seen or heard the performance... But from this list it sounds different, unique and it stood out as a clear winner to me.

Still I must say last year first semi was quiet impressive, and according to this songs it won't be repeated... I hope there are more better songs in semis to come!

My favourite is Jessica Andersson! ;)

I really expected more from Sweden, this a very boring and bad semifinal, I think Salem and Jessica will pass.

Fabio Deluca [37739]

Bleh, I am gonna skip this. Every year is the same: same styles, same singers, same composers... Put these songs in Romania and you will say they're mediocre. But as they come from Sweden, this is the best European final. What a lie!

Max Raspail [36649]
Fri 5 Feb 2010 23:36:39

Don't really know if it's good that we got to know the winner of each round - so the final could lose a bit of its tension I fear...

anyway, based on the snippets, it's for me:
1. Jenny Silver - A Place To Stay
---
2. Pain of Salvation - Road Salt
---
3. Salem al Fakir - Keep On Walking
4. Ola - Unstoppable
---
5. Frisprakarn - Singel
6. Jessica Andersson - I Did It For Love
7. Linda Pritchard - You're Making Me Hot-Hot-Hot
8. Anders Ekborg - The Saviour

I'm actually now loving Jenny - Place To Stay. Hope it qualifies. Think it could be a dark horse ( though I'll be totally wrong and it will come last haha) Good luck :D

I like most of the songs, im impressed, i thought that most of the songs would be weaker.
Jessica Andersson, Salem al fakir, and pain of salvation where the best.
I dont like Frispråkarn, Lina Pritchard and the saviour.

My faves.:
1] Frispråkarn - Singel KooL!!! (someone mp3 download link pleaz?)
2] Linda Pritchard - You're Making Me Hot-Hot-Hot (just imagined myself jumpin on my bed while listening this song..that flute sounds really funny! love it... :P)
3] Jessica Andersson - I Did It For Love { Celine Dion style?} :/

4] Ola - Unstoppable well, typical ESC song.. but its oke..

Michalis M

I was surprised too as Pain of Salvation is a metal band. This is however a ballad. Daniel, the lead singer of PoS is more or less alone on the stage, the other band members are scattered around him.
Yeah, that's what people (who have watched the rehearsal) say, Jenny's song is not memorable. But her clothes are - she will be wearing a metal "swimming costume" and a silver glove :D

Jessica Andersson for me

I thought Melodifestivalen would be different this year but I'm not so sure now!

Road Salt for sure caught my attention. I don't know any of the performers of the songs and by the looks of this lot i was thinking it was going to be a rock song, i was surprised. It may of course pick up in the end but even so i liked it, if Sweden goes with something like this for a change it may attract many more votes than expected. Still, too early.... Jenny Silver's song also has an ambiance but maybe not instantly memorable enough for ESC. There are perhaps a couple more cute ones that could grow on me, including the Saviour except that the lyrics are a bit creepy lol

Linda Pritchard & Frispråkarn for me.. rest is.. pretty lame from what I've heard... but that might change..

Ola : I quite like the bouncy rhythm, not a huge fan of the song but it's not bad either :)
Jenny Silver : A bit odd .. well it's the sort of trendy pop music that is really "in" nowadays but I don't really get it :P
Linda Pritchard : Again, the rhythm is addictive, even if the song isn't anything special.
Pain of Salvation : We really can't tell much from this clip, but I think the song is going to be something quite special when we hear the whole thing, so I really look forward to seeing this one live :)
Anders Ekborg : Not sure ... it's very 80's, I do kinda like the verses but the chorus puts me off a little. I think the 3 minute hearing might appeal to me more.
Jessica Andersson : Doesn't really grab me, I think it'll do well though.
Frispråkarn : A bit crap :P
Salem : This song is so odd! I can't say I like it, but i'm interested as to how it'll be presented on stage.

And the Swedish selection beguins... from these bunch, I point out Jenny Silver, Pain of Salvation, Jessica Andersson and Frispråkarn. Good luck!

I thought the danish MGP would be nice since the beginning and I think the same about the first semi of MF. :D
