They struggle for France

"It will be Emmanuel Moire or Jessy Matador"

According to Télé Loisirs, the final choice for chance will be between Emmanuel Moire and Jessy Matador. In the coming days we will find out who will represent France in Eurovision 2010.

After Christophe Willem refused the proposal (and Julie Zenatti too, the website writes), a battle between the teams of Jessy Matador and Emmanuel Moire is presently on its way.

Between 2004 and 2007, Emmanuel Moire, born in 1979, portrayed Louis XIV as a member of the cast in the successful musical Le Roi Soleil. Emmanuel is an eclectic artist. He sings and plays the piano, with a hundred tunes to his credit.

Emmanuel Moire released his first solo album, titled Là où je pars, on November  2006. The first single was Le Sourire. With British pop influences, the first album paid special attention to the melodies even more than the emotions. His second album, titled L'Équilibre was released in April 2009, and includes songs such as Adulte et Sexy and Sans dire un mot, which have been made into music videos recently. Sois tranquille is a very personal song for the artist. Emmanuel Moire represented France at the 2007 Sopot Festival in Poland performing his song Ça ma fait du bien. He came in second place, losing to the Polish band Feel.

Je fais de toi mon essentiel (from Le Roi Soleil)

Adulte et sexy

Jessy Matad'Or is an artist born in Congo. He did his debut as a dancer in the group Les Coeurs Brisés (broken hearts), playing in Congo, Europe and North America.

In 2005, he gave birth to his own group, under the name of La Selesao, made of 5 dancers with a special concept entitled Show Kanawa. It is referring to a special dance in which you move your pelvis and you show off as much as possible!

The band played as opening of the Magic System, another group, especially in the Parisian concert hall Le Bataclan.

Jessy Matador's got a first success during the Summer of 2008 with the song Décalé Gwada.

It is said that France Télévisions would like to see beyond Eurovision itself and make a hit of the song of Jessy Matador to coincide with next World Football Cup to be held in South Africa and for which France Télévisions got the rights of some of the matches. This would be a summer hit, people fighting for Jessy say.

But others don't share this opinion and think Matador's style doesn't fit at all Eurovision, which would reduce France's chances to score well.

The final answer will be given within a few days.

The problem with this guy is that he's completely unknown. It's true that he had one hit in 2008 (40 000 singles sold + 10 000 downloads, which made it Nr.52 in the annual sales chart), but NOBODY remembers nor that song neither who he is. And last year proved that the only way to attract media and public attention for Eurovision in France is to have a big name singing for us. Even if the song is good, who will care about Jessy Matador representing France ??!! Nobody of course, because he doesn't mean anything to the French audience. How can France Televisions not understand that ???!!

I'm so disappointed!!! How can they? I think I'll have to cancel my trip to Oslo. This year seems to be worse than 2001

Well, it will be Jessy Matador, we learned this morning on Europe 1 Radio.

Thanks South Africa World Cup ! :)

No chance of winning (but everybody knows we will never win again this contest) but it can be funny.

I agree that Emmanuel Moire seems very promising for Eurovision, but Jessy Matador might not be such a bad choice either. I think it's too soon to tell. I remember when I heard that Ricky Martin was going to make an anthem for the 1998 World Cup I expected a terrible song because I only knew his 1-2-3 Maria which I didn't like at all. But La cope de la vida was a terrific song and it really opened my eyes not only to Ricky Martin but a lot of Latin music. So although I think Décalé gwada would be unsuited for Eurovision, Jessy might produce the super hit of the summer next, who knows? At least France is considering artists with some previous chart success and for that they deserve some recognition.

I thin there's only one single style that don't fit ESC at all : and that's Rap obv (no Rap song to ever reach the final, even though if Serbia & M hadn't vote in esc 2006 (maybe the most pathetic thing in recent years, they weren't in it lol), then Poland would have gone through, but still borderline).

But in Trollers mind, a ESC song must be a cliché ballad or/and a joyful song. Explain the "criticism" about Matador (who is he btw ? xD)

Please France, send Emmanuel Moire to Eurovision. His songs sound more French and this is the key if you want to win! :)

Well it all depends on the song. Maybe Jessy would have a better one, who knows. All styles fit into Eurovision at least, it's up to people to vote for it from there...

hey guys hope you don't mind me advertising a song contest i took over recently, its an online contest where you represent countrys, send the entrys you wish the countrys in eurovision would :P

http://worldsongbattle.webs.com/

info on how to join is on there :)

on subject i think both choices would be good for France, i think these two artists could bring something different and with the right song, could bring france another top 10, although Matt pokora would be my choice for France

Emmanuel Moire for sure (L)

I don't like that boombambambastic-African-Flavor thing. It will certainly effect in a negative way.

With Emmanuel Moire we can have at least a decent song for our archives and also a decent song for the French esc history-archive .. ;)

I hope for Emmanuel Moire with a great ballad. Good Luck France, please send just a great song as last year's wonderful entry, sung by Patrucia Kaas

I think France should send Jessy Matad'Or. It's high-time that Eurovision should get a little African flavor. And, of course, the 2010 World Cup in South Africa would be held only a month after Eurovision 2010. I LOVE France's entry last year. Patricia Kaas was great. But I'll bet that France would sent something that isn't as good as Patricia Kaas. Oh, well. Bonne chance, France!

They were obviously serious when they announced to send a big name again... Moire and Matador are both established artists...

I can't really say who would be my choice... both have their advantages...

Well... That sounds disappointing.
Emmanuel Moire is quite well known but not so successful. He never had any big hit. However, he's talented and cute. Sending a gay to Eurovision looks pretty "cliché", but why not, France did not try this so often in the past.
The other one... What's that ?
Out of the two, it has to be Emmanuel : at least he would get a bit of media coverage (but this will be nothing compared to Patricia). The other one would bring back Eurovision to very low figures in France I'm afraid.
All in all, I think this is disappointing.

out of these 2....france please send Emmanuel Moire. like i know there r lots of africans and other people in france who'd vote for Jessy Matador, but i really hope people in FR chose Emmanuel. we all like different styles, and thats just my 2 cents worth

Every year we get these rumours from France and Turkey and they rarely come true, so I will put my enthusiasm on hold until I hear something official. Having said that I like both of these artists although none of the songs presented here are screaming out for Paris 2011.
