Dima Bilan

White nights

Listen to Dima Bilan's song demo version

Dima Bilan, the singer who represented Russia twice, in 2006 and 2008, when he won the Eurovision trophy, is back again this year to the Russian preselection with the song White nights. The song has been written by Philip Kirkorov, with Yana Rudkovskaya as the producer. The acclaimed Greek choreographer Fokas Evaggelinos will be responsible for Dima's choreography at the Russian national final.

Last month, Dima Bilan's producer Yana Rudkovskaya confirmed the singer's intention to give it another try and bid to represent Russia for the third time in Eurovision. It seems that Dima is taking the challenge very seriously as the song he is to perform has been composed by one of Russia's household names in the music industry - Philip Kirkorov, the man behind several Eurovision entries (Belarus 2007, Ukraine 2008) and Russian representative himself in 1995.

The choreography will be made by another big name in the field of dancing - Fokas Evaggelinos, who directed and choreographed Sakis Rouvas in both of his Eurovision participations (2004 and 2009), Elena Paparizou in 2005, as well as Ani Lorak in 2008.

You can listen to the demo version of White nights, as well as read its lyrics here .

Its been Dima's blog since 2005.. he started it up before Eurovision and its still active now. Yes there is a blog. No you did not try finding it lmao. Of course you can get the link to the blag from his official website.. Oh unless your also saying that it does not exist either.

Furthermore I still think dima's demo is better than nearly all the Eurovision songs of this year allready even with only 'na,na,na's' I can't wait to hear it with the lyrics, then watch him perform (and win) on the Russian Nf and who knows if other countries do not Raise the Bar it will be Moscow 2011

My two cents on this demo

At first playback, it seemed a little too teenaged and simple.
It was like listening to some sort of Shady Lady outtake, that is, a preliminary version of what then developed into that other song. Like it or not, one must admit that this sounds less 'powerful' and of course eons away in terms of definition and phrasing (and is IS clear to see what the vocal phrasing will be, for the lalala and nanana is undeniable here).
As I said, too fresh and teenaged, perhaps dangerously close to a dont-worry-you're-wearing-tampax jingle made more complex; that was the impression I got. That is, not that anything in it sounds tampons to me, but just an overall impression of regression from the more serious and adult-sounding 2006 and 2008 entries.
Furthermore, what are they going to do about the mainline instruments? It HAS to be the guitar, and the reason is quite plain and simple: it was piano in 2006, and synth-programmed tune (presumably piano-inspired again) in 2008. Of course one singer might present us with countless songs of a similar style, but this is a competition, everyone is expecting something fresh and Bilan has been there twice too close, too recently. So guitar it will be. Given this, there is the risk I already pointed out of it sounding too carelessly 'outdoors on campus'. Well, that would not be suiting to Dima, for I doubt it could ever match his 'I'm a smart guy, I don't care about politically correct images, speeding, appearing closer to a thug in my videos than to a young entertainer, picking up girls whoever's they may be' overall artistic/commercial banner.
So, as it stands so far, a tad wet behind the ear and much less mature musically IMHO, I don't see it a sure shot, a certain blockbuster, or whatever you guys out there are already fearing without a hard-thought reason.

And why these overwhelming amounts of funs didn't beg him to give a concert in their country to save the rest of us from trouble?Eurovision stage is the only stage they can watch him?No but the esc stage is the only one that will give him the opportunity for 120 millions of people to watch him...His selfless sacrifice makes me wanna cry.Dima is a hero!

Now WHERE is the button to click?!?! I open the link and all I get is a website in Russian... HELP! :P

I really need to listen to this demo before I start distilling venom (though I'm finding it hard to refrain, just reading all this here, AND Dima Bilan's 'selfless contribution to the European hunger for his charm' ;) OMG!

Please, could anyone tell me what to click, or if here is a link easier to go through? THANKS!

"Overwhelming amounts of Fans from all across Europe begged me to sing again for Russia, even fans that had no ties to Russia, Friends how could I turn them down? Wish me luck and remember to vote as much as you can..." (then he went on to talk about different things but at the VERY end of his blog he wrote, "I know I can win this, not only because I like the song more than previous times, but because my fan base are with me, thankyou x x!"

Oh!He is so generous! The fans begged him so he is not doing it for any selfish reasons like self promotion or to pursue an international career that never happens...
At least i hope this time he has on stage with him my favourite figure skating couples,Maria Mukhortova-Maxim Trankov and of course, Yuko Kawaguti ans Alexander Smirnov. He can leave them on stage alone. We've seen enough of him in esc! :)

I would like to encourage everyone to act with more maturity this year and keep our childish slander to ourselves.

No childish slander Keith?
No can do ;) That would be like having a Eurovision without Chiara or Dima, it just never happens

(2005 Chiara, 2006 Dima 2007(aka the year Eurovision died) 2008 Dima, 2009 Chiara, 2010 Dima ;) (who knows 2011 Chiara again lmao it could happen)

Oh and btw. The Demo for Dima's song is great and I wish Russia luck in next years show, the country always sends above average songs but 2009 was awful. I'm hoping for a great 2010 song and Dima would be my No.1 choise to represent Russia in ESC out of any other Russian artists. So I'm realy glad he has submitted a song and in his blog he said, "Overwhelming amounts of Fans from all across Europe begged me to sing again for Russia, even fans that had no ties to Russia, Friends how could I turn them down? Wish me luck and remember to vote as much as you can..." (then he went on to talk about different things but at the VERY end of his blog he wrote, "I know I can win this, not only because I like the song more than previous times, but because my fan base are with me, thankyou x x!"

Just use google translate and search for his blog and you will find his latest posts ;) Alot of them don't involve Eurovision but the 1st one on the page does

Had the songs come from Iceland or Malta etc I seriously doubt they would have gotten as many points

You're right but eurovision was never 100% fair, someone always had the advantage, be it because of the language, the neighbours, the allies or whatever.
However this advantage does NOT winners make (or even top 5 positions)...and anyway now with the juries that advantage is much less important than before.

@Thorazin Corazon
I have to disagree. I haven't liked a Russian entry much in all years they've been participating. The way I see it they have sent a lot of average songs and gotten higher results than deserved because they are Russia... Had the songs come from Iceland or Malta etc I seriously doubt they would have gotten as many points.

Let people express themselves, Keith. When I had first come here, I was shocked, now I'm used to it. And if you think I'm mean..lol...I wish everyone was as mean as I am (meaning not mean at all).
