2.9 mil CHF owed to the EBU
B&H participation in jeopardy due to debt
The BHRT debt to the EBU totals nearly 2.9 million CHF (close to 2 million euro) and although such a debt would not be tolerated under normal circumstances, the EBU clearly understands the problems faced by the broadcaster and have been supportive so far. But as no payment has been received to date, they now request that a sum of 250.000 CHF (about 170.000 euro) is paid until 30th April or the broadcaster will be not be allowed to take part in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The EBU recently appealed to the B & H House of Parliament and House of Peoples drawing their attention to the problem and asking them to take an active part towards a solution. In the letter, it is made clear that although BHRT received substantial support in the past when considerable debts were written off (post war and up to 2002) this cannot happen again. The EBU state they are willing to resolve the problem through a long term rescheduling but it seems they have not received a valid proposal so far.
Furthermore, unless another 500.000 CHF is paid my mid June, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be barred from receiving any more EBU services and that includes signal for the World Cup. The total balance is due on 31st December 2010.

I hope they manage to get the payment in on time, good luck Bosnia-Herzegovina
oh my god...no!!!!!!!
for sure they will pay 170.000 euro until April , ok Bosnia is not rich countrey but this amount is not so huge for any countrey, Bosnia dont want to loose ESC 2010 and for sure they want World cup signal . So dont worry Bosnia will be in ESC
What sad news.
I really hope they can manage to pay them back and still participate. I really want to hear Vukasin's song and it would be a shame with Bosnia's absence at ESC.
A shame if they were forced to withdraw. For me they're the best ex-yugo country with excellent songs like "Pokusaj", "Lejla" and "Bistra Voda".
would pick someone with good english
Aww, you're such a flirt. I'm jealous of Lina's flag and I'm curious what she really looks like. Why are people saying that Sara and Marky are banned? Are they? If so, why?
With regards to the BiH broadcaster, I can only hope they will reach some sort of agreement with the EBU. I think the World Cup would be too big for them to lose out on. We're Europeans, don't take our football away from us! That's like telling a Yankee not to yank. Still, in the spirit of IceSave, I do believe it's possible to reach an agreement before the deadline. I really hope to see Bosnia & Herzegovina in Oslo!
I hope B&H manages to solve the case and bring a good song along. All the best for B&H.
@Thorazin Corazon: My child, hold on, hold on, be strong :;
esctoday tells us the euro-amount here, but in the article about the Tcketsell we had to convert from Norvegish money to euro ourselves...thx
To bosnia:
omg bosnia is my favourite country in ESC.... dont leave ussss
My god, please pay it somehow, Esc won't be the same without you
don't let it happend, they must be in...
love b&h
Can't they ban B&H from next year's contest? They already have a song and a performer. It would be very unfair to the singer and composers.
I will not be the exception
I must admit that B&H is one of my favourite esc countries!!!All 2006-2009 entries were in my personal top 10!Laka was my 2nd favourite back in 2008
"I can't believe ppl can like that mor than Hari Mata hari "Lejla"! That even makes me sad!"
says the boy who also wrote
"Please, your taste is not better than my and contrary so please"
and also
"Now you will say me that you didn't mean that but please don't say it, coz I know you meant that! "
"Bistra voda", "Pokušaj" and "Lejla" are amomgst my favourite ESC songs in the 21st century...
...& I also liked "Rijeka bez imena"
(less convinced by the more dance-oriented ones though)
So. It's happening....
"I hope this is resolved...
B&H has been one of my favourite countries in Eurovision in the last few years."
*Eres tu - I could not agree more!
and we share the same opinion about Diges.
I kinda like your taste..
Marko
Don't worry, it was clean laundry !!
I think he should have gone more over the top
and actually had the stage as what he sees when he is high
It seems where all his creativity comes from. But seriously I loved Laka's song
I don't know if the staging was good enough for it, although I loved the girls dress !!
I think to most people it would appear to be a joke, which is a shame, but maybe some can just see it as just an explosion of creativity. It depends on how you see things probably
and both Laka and Hata Mari were awesome
Marko
I think I prefer laundry to a lot of other stuff ESC performances have made us suffer ...
Lejla, what a song!
I made a new remix for you, Marko...Marko in the Club
"Pokusaj" wasn't joke entry. Laka has his own way of writing lyrics, and those lyrics in most situations aren't easy to understand. Only Laka knows right meaning of them.
That was what he said before Eurovision 2008.
"Pokusaj" had lovely music in background and specially that instrumental part before first chorus.
He was singing about love.
I just can't understand who can someone say that the song itself was a joke.
Anyway, "Pokusaj" is my favorite Bosnian song on Eurovision ever and I doubt that we will have something that interesting and entertaining soon again on Eurovision.
Back to the topic: I really hope that we will be on Eurovision this year. BHRT will solve this problem on the end, I think. Good luck.
I liked both Patricia and Laka
In fact, I even uploaded a subtitled video for Pokusaj.

Igor
No big surprise that we agree on this one, I guess.
Marko, it's totally normal that people with, let's say... more demanding taste in music, like both Laka and Patricia
Marko
It is no problem at all if you don't focus on personal taste but on quality. And there are objective categories to evaluate quality in the arts and music ... Oh my, people will start coming after me now! *running for cover*
Togravus,
I really didn't saw your comment about Pokušaj before refreshing this page, and it turned out to be that we share almost the same opinion about the song
I hope this is resolved...
B&H has been one of my favourite countries in Eurovision in the last few years.
Laka had one of the wittiest songs and presentantions ever heard in recent Contests
