Commenting the choice made by France 3
"French eurofans are angry"
First of all, French eurofans point out the fact that the artist is unknown to the general public, which will make it difficult to reach big audience figures. "Last year, we were happy as France 3 - at last! - understood they need a famous and experienced artist. As a result, France was back in the Top 10 and viewing figures were excellent (32%). France 3 was very proud of the success". "Last month, (more than) rumours had it that Christophe Willem - with or without David Guetta - would be this year's entrant. This was the continuation of the "famous artists" process. So why someone nearly unknown? With more than certainly a bad audience".
Eurofans also stress that the idea of promoting the song as "a summer hit referring to the World football cup" is ridiculous, if not scandalous. "Eurovision is kind of sacrified for the promotion of another event, which should not be allowed from a public channel". Many fans are upset to hear that "France is not willing to win the contest and makes everything to reach that non-goal!". "We had tough years, -fans recall-, next to last in 1998, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, between 15 and 19th places in 1999, 2003, 2004 and 2008, that's enough".
Still, the letter ends with the following thoughts: "We don't want to blame the chosen artist and his song before we listen to it. Some of us even remain optimistic, claiming that France will attract attention and that the present controversy makes people talk and write about Eurovision".

SHAME ON SPAIN ! CORAL WAS THE SONG WHO COULD WIN THE CONTEST !
i hope for DANEMARK .....
WHAT A DISGRACE!!!! That is all I have to say with regards to some of the comments on this site!!!
I cant see the fuzz about a songs TITLE!!!
I am still very positive. And I don't feel that France is ridiculing or disrespecting the ESC. Not at all. I dont understand why some eurofans seem to be so offended by this.
I love Copa de la Vida with Ricky Martin. And I LOVE this football song - Galatasaray (although I have no feelings for the team itself):

Of course this is eurovision and a song may go on to become a hit but not do well in eurovision.
lol
That's a very, very important point, Mina. Thanks for pointing that out.
lol, lol, lol
Daniel
You see how it works!!!

Togravus
I really don't understand that drama, before song is available! They made group on FB!! GOSH!!!
I can't believe that Sara has been banned
Some people on this site have endless arguments about territorial disputes that descend into extemely racist and offensive language and they seem to get away with it every time. Others insult people just because they have a different opinion or point of view, again using vile language and nothing happens. You cannot express your opinion on some topics, without being insulted, unless it agrees with those who think they have the right to control what everyone else says.
Why all this hysteria? Let's wait for the song and give an opinion after having listened to it.
Don't change singer France pleaseeeeeee!
SAVE FRENCH SELECTION... CHANGE THE SINGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think France have incredible nerve to boast about their FIFA World Cup participation in such a way - especially when everybody knows that they earned it by playing by hand!
This song better be a massive hit in all sorts or arenas to justify this bizarre choice of a song. And knowing Bruno I don't think he would have made such a risky choice without feeling fairly certain that this is exactly what will happen
Of course this is eurovision and a song may go on to become a hit but not do well in eurovision.
lol
necessary to compose and write a song which will be an interplanetary hit
An interplanetary hit, no less!
In the 80s the dream was to be Big in Japan; in 2010 Big on Jupiter is the new loud! I'm loving it!
But jokes aside, I completely agree with you. This song better be a massive hit in all sorts or arenas to justify this bizarre choice of a song. And knowing Bruno I don't think he would have made such a risky choice without feeling fairly certain that this is exactly what will happen.
The whole European Community’s not racist!!! (I refer to ineptitudes that I read through the French forums concerning the 2010 participation of Jessy in the contest). The problem is not there, all depends if the song write to him will be good and how it will sing it. Indeed, its way of occurring on scene does not correspond with the Eurovision Fans wait. If the French choice runs towards him, it’s thus necessary to compose and write a song which will be an interplanetary hit, if not the result will be the disastrous one.
Thanks Marko
Stockholm
I will tell her, don't worry!
Vote for Anna in 4th semi MF!!
LOL I'm joking! But I really
her song!
@Mak ut
well I don't give a F++ck about it (you see I have to hide that word here instaed of n++ger" etc,
I am a member of "Journalists without frontiers", and I feel free to give my views on their website/fighting for our views worldwide so why I should give up my right to freedom of speech on this website about Eurovision? I mean I have been, myself, in far more difficult situations than this, I mean about a "song"?, hey, its the policy of ESCtoday not that you be quiet about it! paulcl
OMG, has Sara been banned
I can't believe it. Why?
Vizzy, say hello from me too
I also wonder why Sara has been banned. I never saw anything from her that could have hurt anyone.
Oh paul c you should be careful. Better dont say what you really think especially if you criticize the policy of esctoday.com. We dont want to lose more people. The chinese show that human rights like the freedom of speech are overrated. And esctoday is a little bit like that, but we can be happy even if we are not allowed to say the things we want to say. so plz paul
why don't they send Emmanuel Moire???
he sings really nice
With a powerhouse like Pete waterman writing for us, i think the Uk will definately be in the Top 5, not the bottom 5 like France.
What a stupid crystal ball. Pete Waterman who? He is famous and blabla, we only judge by the actual songs and not name like Waterman Webber or what ever lol.
you know what I really hate about this is ESCtoday attitude, I mean why should you ban someone like Sara , who never did any harm to anyone here with her comments, and yet you allow racist comments like we have here to go through? I mean is it that you want to instill sone kind of controversy here? or do you condone words like "nigger" or "jungle music" or whatever? I mean where are your criteria? as a journalist I am deeply offended, and if you are a serious website, particularly in your journalism/criteria for banning people please then send me your criteria policy here and I/we (the majority) would like to answer you, waiting to see you if you ban me....paulcl..
@rita

By the way, I love France's entry. And I hope it will do well. African music is so cool
@UK 12 points ...
As usual UK will be in top 5 from the bottom because it sends pure "european" music each year
Eat your heart out, you hater !
Oh Tohoshinki, you are just a liar, you arent worth my time. You twist my words, and continue to call a non-racist a racist.
@ Mark
YOU
I think I should order a visit from the 3G girls to your house huh?????
" If a random Arab used a Viking helmet for a soccer game, does that mean that the Viking helmet is no longer a symbole of Nordic culture? You're seriously drunk. "
That backs up my statement, you are the one arguing that the viking helmet (rock music) is African(Arab) because they contributed to it.
Are you so retarded as I think? That was my example of how your idiotic brain thinks, not mine (I can't stop laughing). Rock has its roots from Africa, end off. People who deny that are seriously the biggest thiefs and disrespectful ones. You should study some history and human sense to get it, people who invent things do of course claim their products. My mum and dad contributed me, arne't my roots from them then? YES. Same with rock, since the African were the first ones to contribute to rock and the other music genres before you as white, those music genres have its roots from Africa. The Viking helmet is still Nordic if an Arab uses it, do you get my example now? God......I suspect that you're just denying that the Africans contributed so because you're one of a racist.
