Spain sends Daniel Diges to the Eurovision Song Contest

The Spanish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was held tonight. 10 acts competed in the final of Eurovision 2010: Destino Oslo. The combined results of televoting and jury vote have decided that Daniel Diges will fly the Spanish flag in the Norwegian capital next May. The winning song was written by Jesús Cañadilla, Luis Miguel de la Varga, Daniel Diges and Alberto Collado.

The Spanish public and jury have made their choice. Daniel Diges will represent Spain in Oslo. Daniel is an experienced singer, having performed in a large number of musicals, as well as tv series and films. This guy from Madrid has gained the massive support from the jury and the viewers, who have awarded him with the highest score tonight.

According to the outcome of the Spanish national final, our readers have not agreed with the result, as they chose Coral Segovia as their runaway favourite to represent Spain in Oslo. Daniel Diges got 3rd place in our poll, far behind Coral. Lorena, who has achieved 3rd place tonight, was last to our readers' preferences.

Exactly, John. In the big stage in Oslo, it will be AMAZING.

I agree Mina, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the stage peformance, the only problem being that the stage was too small for it. They won't have that problem in Oslo though! :)

Mario,
I'll have to look into that :P

@ Mina X

Daniel stated he doesn't want to change the choreography, only minor things.
In addition, if you love Daniel so much, there's a video on RTVE.es where he appears shirtless :-)

have to agree with that!
The princess, the little soldier, the ragdoll and the clown all dancing so happy together; the all fairytale atmosphere is really genious. The only one's missing is santa claus, it's a pitty he missed the party :(

Hahahahahhahaahah! :D :D
Yeah it's quite ugly performance, but what can we do!!? :D

I hope Daniel will get rid of the terrible stage performance

And I hope he doesn't! The stage performance is genius!

Thanks for your support, but this is not the 1st ESC that I see... and it has been proved that Spain will always be bottom. I don't know if Europe don't like our music, or if Europe hates us... or if big4 status is causing envies or what... but year by year... and I'll remember to you the day next to Eurovision... Spain will be 21st to 25th

Maybe you should look for the causes of your unsuccessful results to your lack of work and effort when it comes to esc...I don't think there is any paneuropean conspiracy behind all this...In fact, i believe that Spain will do much better this year...

Roberto,
I'm sure that the Finns once said the same things (and worse as Spain has gotten much better results than Finland!)....and then they won :P

and I'm telling you Spain will be top 10 this year ;) Mark my words !!! :)

Oh True fantasy,

true fantasy,
I'm sorry, I hope that the problem will be solved :(

Roberto,
noone's place is nowhere. The magic of eurovision is that one year you can be last and the next year first.

I agree with Manuel that Spain will finish top5... but in the bottom, as last year, and the other, and the other... hehehehe
I don't understand how some spanish fans keep being optimistic, when it has been shown that our place is in the bottom.

with no conection to this article but i have a feeling that bad news concerning Israel are about to come.
Isreli broadcaster IBA is in big financial problem.
they are threating to black the screen (no transmitions) from next week until any future annoncment.
the Israeli goverment is not willing to strim money to save the chael by saying its old fashioned tv chanel and they dont bring raiting any more. so Israel goverment will not spend money on something dont worst it.
so right now there is big argument around this subject and there is no light in the horizon.
if the goverment will close this chanel it is allmost sure that Israel will not participate this year.
unless chanel 2 will join EBU very quick.

Why should this song be a bad one, Dennis?

Anyway, my favourites were (in alphabetical order: Anabel Conde, Coral Segovia, Dennis Diges, Lorena and Venus.
I am quite happy with the result and I like the Spanish entry more and more!

Espero que entendáis, que la canción no sea bíen!
I don´t like it, and It will for sure NOT be top 5.

Axel,
last year's song just didn't work on stage, I think. Or Soraya had a bad night. But something didn't go well in the end, that's for sure. La noche es para mi could have done much better in my opinion.
Strictly as a song I prefer Algo pequenito but that's just a matter of preference.

Good one Mina.... when I wake up I always thought about my first cigarette, but since 4 weeks now....I am clean... no ciggies anymore. But I will work my newly found frustrations out on you guys.... Sorry about that.

You can not compare this year's entry with last year Spanish disaster.... This is a real song, a real good singer, a nice melody .....

Mina X [59957]
Wed 24 Feb 2010 11:14:50

it's just that I woke up the other day thinking how good it would be to have something less "I am Greek but have lived in the US forever, so my poise is so not Greek"

Really??? When I wake up, I usually think about stuff like coffee and breakfast..lol
Anyway, this year, like dimitris said, all the contestants are Greeks living in Greece (except Eleutheria who is from Cyprus) so you can sleep peacefully :D

Btw, ethno-pop isn't a genre that we have sent that much to eurovision, if you consider that we've been participating in it for over 30 years.

I actually believe this is a hundred times better than "la noche es para mi'

I wouldn't say 100 times better (I loved Spain last year, too) but it's certainly different and it touches you in a different way. Last year Spain was about partying, this year it's about nostalgia and romance. And with a great singer as well.

Yes, David - I think you are absolutely right. You might like the song or not - but for sure it will not catch the attention of the viewers because of trashyness, bad vocals or because it is a joke-entry. I love the song, and I think both the song and Daniel Diges have qualities to score well.

david ter [30318]

This is definitely a love it or hate it entry... and this is quite good IMO, because it means, it makes no indifference, what is the most important thing in a show like eurovision.. i don't know what's happening in Oslo, but for sure Daniel will catch everyone's attention

I do not agree with many reactions: I think that Daniel Diges had the best song and the best performance of the evening - and rightly so, I also think that Coral deserved the 2nd place : she sings very very well, but the song is so déjà vu!!!

So, good luck to Daniel and Spain from Paris, France!
