Eurovision is a part of my life!
Poland: The Marcin Mrozinski interview
Could you tell us about your musical life so far?
Music is my real love, my second life! Since I remember I was always dreaming about being part of this world of music. I started singing when I was 8. Since then I have been participating in many song contests and TV shows... finally, after high school I decided to become an actor... My debut role was a character of Raoul de Chagny in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical The Phantom of the Opera - you simply cannot change your destiny...
What does the Eurovision Song Contest means for Marcin? Have you ever tried to enter this contest before?
Eurovision is very important for me. I was watching it since I was a child and it has always been a great inspiration for me! When I won the national finals I was totally shocked! I didn’t expected that this might happen. Receiving the wild card just two weeks before our National Final was completely unexpected… My mom was always saying: “remember son – sky is the limit!” Now I know she was right. I am so happy!!!
How was the process of creating your song? We see that you are the lyricist of the song. Did you write those lyrics from the composition or the other way round?
It happened so quickly. First, we had the composition of my great friend Marcin Nierubiec, then I created lyrics. We have been working like crazy...hahaha, great, incredible time!
Are you thinking of rearranging or singing your song in other languages?
Yes, I am thinking about it...I have already got some propositions from record companies. Well, things are happening!
How would you rate the Eurovision Song Contest in terms of musical quality?
Eurovision is a part of my life. Since I remember I always wanted to represent my country in Eurovision! Wow, it finally happens, I still can’t believe it! Musical quality? I love Eurovision, I am one of the biggest fans ever!!
What are your favourite Eurovision songs and Polish songs?
To nie ja (Edyta Gorniak) WOW!!!, Kasia Kowalska, Justyna Steczowska- we have already a great history in Eurovision... My favourite Eurovision songs are: Ostatni kraj mene (Alma & Dejan) – ESC 1994, Nek´ti bude ljubav sva (Tony Cetinsky) – ESC 1994, Nocturne (Secret Garden) – ESC 1995, I’m not affraid to move on (Jostein Hasselgard) – ESC 2003, Wild Dances (Ruslana) – ESC 2004, Angel (Chiara) – ESC 2005, and last year – ESC 2009 – Is it true? (Yohanna), Et s’il fallait le faire (Patricia Kaas) and Fairytale (Alexander Rybak).
Are you planning to make a promo tour?
It depends on sponsors, unfortunately it costs lots of money... but I would love to do it!
How is your daily routine?
Now, my life is crazy...it really is, but I love it! Lots of interviews, meetings, all day long, seven days a week! At the same time I am still working in Warsaw theaters, working on my own TV program and doing so many more things... My life has changed, that’s for sure, but I am so happy!
Do you have a message to the esctoday.com readers?
So it will be also a message to me as I’m your reader too.
Thank you for being with me. It is so good that there are still people who believe in real music…Let’s make this year LEGENDAry for Poland!
We would like to thank Marcin Mrozinski for this interview and wish him good luck in his Eurovision adventure.

I like him!!! great interview Mr Yalcinkaya
dont like this. its an experiment that will fail
He really seems like a nice and funny guy and his song is one of the good ones so far! Good luck!
wow, he remembers Croatian entry Nek ti bude ljubav sva
now i like him even more...
i already said and wrote that Poland is one of my favs this year so far, bravo Poland
Bravo, Poland! All the best for your song, I hope it will be points for "Legenda" from Bosnia & Hercegovina! Good luck
Marcin seems like a really genuine and funny person, I wish him all the best in Oslo, and I'm more than sure he will do fine reaching the finals, & Legenda is the first song from my country I really keep my fingers crossed for. xo
Legenda is may fav. so far.He sang it great in KE10.
I believe , it'll be sang much better in Esc.
@ Mi reina
Ok... then I totally agree with you!
but if you meant the other two ballet type of dancers, then they should be dropped from the act... Yes, I meant the ballet dancers and no one else.
@ Mi reina
the folk dancers/choir should be there, it's part of the act..
but if you meant the other two ballet type of dancers, then they should be dropped from the act...
I want instead more folk ladies !
First of all congratulations and good luck in Oslo. I hope you sing in Polish and keep your performance on the lean side, so please, please drop those dancers! Drop those silly dancers!!
@ MARKO
Lidia's English was so-so but the song itself was so uninteresting and boring... yet it was the best they could send that year
but her live vocals were very bad actually...
I really do hope they change things up with this song as I see lots of potential in it but it doesn't really feel finished and some parts are a little lame and doesn't really fit the whole picture...
I like this song very much!! "Legenda" is excellent!
Marcin like Chiara's song Angel and Paricia Kass - good choice!!!
I hope that in this year Europe will be vote on Poland and "Legenda".
I doubt they will change this song! Anyway it will be hard to change it in way I can love it!!
And he will sing in English without any doubt (very bad English)!! ppl complained last year about Lidia's English accent, but she was actually much better than Marcin!!
I think he is gorgeous and above all he can sing! Best of Luck Poland
I love this guy! He names Kasia Kowalska's and Justyna Steczowska's songs among his 3 favourite Polish ESC entries. Those songs are number 1 and 2 on my Polish list! Now I really hope that he manages to rearrange the song in a way that I can support it. And I agree with the others, do it in Polish 100 %!
@ Theresa Krajewski
Actually the lyrics in the chorus are quite good..
but the verses would be much better with Polish for sure..
The song is great but some of the English lyrics are TERRIBLE! Please sing in Polish, it would sound MUCH better
@ Laila ♥ YEUROVIZJON! ♪ ♫
I do hope he reds here!!
Marcin if you read this (haha)... re-arrange the verses, the background is kind of unfitting and lame... bigger arrangement, more folky and more mystical... and in verses in POLISH... sorry but the English lyrics in the verses aren't very good and Polish would fit more
I love the Mazowsze choirs...
the choruses are good as they are but would also need some bigger arrangement, more "live" instruments feeling and maybe a bigger climax..
if those things are fixed this will be a hot contender in May... so far it's also good, one of the best chosen but I feel there's so much potential in this it could be done even better...
Uh oh! We gotta be careful what we write about Marcin if he is an ESCToday reader also! LOL!
Well, Marcin is getting some competition now with Daniel Diges etc. The battle of the cuties, lol JK, but he is among my favourites for sure.
It's really nice to see an artist who actually loves Eurovision though and doesn't just enter for promotion or something. I hope he gets a good placing to make the year remain "LEGENDAry" for him.
He seem really happy from that interview, lol. I am glad they came to their senses and gave him that darn wildcard!! It was very frustrating for a while there.
I just hope he doesn't get too over-enthusiastic now with the song and start changing it too much because we like it as it is now, don't we?
I hope the song keeps the small Polish parts or gets sung entirely in Polish - that would have been awesome.
Best Song so far! It's Awesome!!
He seems like a nice guy, and he's handsome!!
Best of luck Marcin!! so far, Poland to win!!
I am very pleased with this choice from Poland
Original, interesting and full of passion . Love it !
Good luck Marcin !!!
Anyone who thinks Netherlands entry is better than this has no say *lol*
One of the worst songs this year IMO
Karl,
I was expecting you last weekend in Dublin ?
he is totally gorgeous
One of the best songs chosen so far without a doubt...
I can't believe the hate for this
But I really hope for a re-arrange because some parts just needs to be updated as they still sound on demo stage... the big problem is the verses that doesn't fit in with the rest really
I would really make the verses in Polish and change up the music somewhat.. less demo like, more instruments, more folk and more mystical..
the choruses are pretty good but it could need bigger arrangement..
I would put the new intro presented in the live performance in a new version...
oh well... I doubt the people from Marcin's team read this anyhow hahaha
