Russia short-lists its finalists
Russia: Dima Bilan's absence
Highly rumored and tipped for representing Russia at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Dima Bilan, was not listed among the 35 names which are to compete for the ticket to Oslo on March 7th. It is not clear why Dima Bilan and his management suddenly decided to withdraw from the National Final.
It was announced earlier in February 2010 that Phillip Kirkorov, who is a well known name to the Eurovision audience will once again take part in the contest as a composer. A song titled "White Night" was said to be the one Bilan would sing on the day of the National Final.
Dima Bilan's producer, Yana Rudkovskaya in her statement refused to name the reason, and only commented that it was a mutual dicision between her, Kirkorov and Bilan.
The russian national final will take place on March 7th on RTR at 19:00 CET (21:00 local time). The list of the 35 finalists can be found here.

How did He win? Geez hahahaha, ONLY thing about that performance? The Skater,He was good. Thank god He isnt coming back,out of the old winners there are two I wouldnt mind seeing back, Helena and Ruslana 
Puuuh! :-) I'm soo happy that Dima won't participate at the Russian Preselection. YEAH!
Russia didn't deserve it to win in 2008. But this is just my personal opinion!

ok, dima bilan is not one of my fave artists at all, altho that aside, his song white nights is great, and would have been fantastic in this years comopletely dull esc. so all of u people who dislike him ok, whatever i aint his fan too, but if he has a good song, then shut ur pie hole. jus look at esc history, more than one artist has been at the esc many times
Great news! He has achieved his goal, now he should let other russian artists to represent that country
they used eurovision to create hype around him. ewww. he's such a failure. cheap ways of promoting his music. bye bye gerl!

If it's true, that's a relief ! I think he's frustrated because even if he reached his Eurovision goal, it was a kind of missed opportunity. The song was too average and didn't bring him any international success. Maybe that's why he would like to try again. Anyway it's a good decision not to take part. Build your career, guy, Eurovision is past story for you. Dima has some great songs of international standard. Maybe he should just try to get more natural, less sophisticated...

I don't really care if the song represents Russia or not, so long as it's released and people can enjoy listening to a completed song not just the nanana we have so far. White nights would have been a good choice for Russia, but I'm sure our friends in the East will find another great entry instead. Good luck Russia, and welcome to Oslo!
I'll happily take White Nights as a Russian entry this year. I think it sounds quite good.

Thank god! He is out. As the ESCKAZ writes "gpretty weak entry that has been already proposed to and rejected by several Russian performers, victory chances of Dima Bilan wouldn't be high at the preselection anyway". But we save ourselves for this year. He sais he loves eurovision, all this adventures makes him happy, he doesnt care if he looses no problem with that he likes the journey. So he will try next year better prepared with a really wining song.
Well i dont like to see him wining again but i like his music all his songs are amazing productions for example lady flame is amazing. Believe was an excellent production and a deserved winner i believe.
Rumour has it that they decided not to enter the n.f because it was too soon...couldn't they realize it was too soon before the announcements?

Till now I heard 3 songs from Russian NF, and I liked Pavla's song, Ed's song is not very good! Aleksandar's song too! 
Elena Esenina, I'm waiting for her song, she is soooo promising after winning Baltic song festival with song "Visnya/Cherry"

Please, bring back Alla Pugachova. She is the greatest Russian diva of all times. Remember 'Stariniye chasy', 'Aysberg' or 'Milion alyh roz', these were fantastic songs.
I don't want to see him again. He has nothing left to gain from this contest, unless he really is THAT narcissistic!
