Ukraine: Song titles and songwriters revealed

This Saturday, March 6th, Ukraine will select their entry for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. The internally selected singer Vasyl Lazarovych will perform five songs for the public and the jury to choose from.

This is the complete line- up for the national final (Composers/ lyricists in brackets):

  1. Adrenalin
(music: Dmitriy Klimashenko, Ukraine;  lyrics: Olga Yarynich, Ukraine)
  2. I know
(music: Nikola Karajia, Romania;  lyrics: Brandon Stone, Germany)
  3. Shine of your star
(music and lyrics: Ziga Pirnat, Slovenia and Brandon Stone, Germany)
  4. Don’t wanna loose you
(music and lyrics: Claes Andreasson, Sweden)
  5. I love you…
(music: Brandon Stone, Germany; lyrics: Brandon Stone, Germany and Olga Yarynich, Ukraine)

The winning song will be selected by a mixture of televoting and jury voting, each party having a stake of 50% in the outcome. In case of a tie, the votes cast by the jury will have the final say.

Ukraine will perform in the first half of the second semi final, to be held on May 27th.

Well it seems that one of the winning songs will be one that involves this Brandon Stone guy :(

It just seems a little set-up-ish since the broadcaster basically let this guy dominate the selection, I guess they will let him win in the end aswell...

Well if he happens to have the best song, then obviously that one deserve to win... but I don't like that one composer dominates it like this, makes it look like it's already decided in a way.

So far from what i've read/heard; Adrenalin seems the most promising since it is made by Ukrainians, it is said to be modern and original, and it is also said to be partly in Ukrainian...

but I guess we will have to wait and see (hear)

Good luck Ukraine and plz don't break your trend of being one of the best countries in this contest! :)

I can only hope that these songs are good. If this trend continues, in a few years time, most countries will be singing a variation on the same song. At the risk of sounding nationalist, I think each country should invite its own composers to write and compose material for their own NFs.

Good luck, Ucrania.

Ukraine is one of my all time favorite ESC countries so i'm always curious what they'll come up with.

I don't really like this "hiring a foreign composer" thing so based on only these infos Adrenalin sounds the most promising since it's made only by Ukrainians.

I really hope for a song that has Ukrainian lyrics and that has some ethno-influences.

Good luck and chose the best and most Ukrainian sounding song out of them!

@Barzin - EuroScan
They don't and that is not the correct title of course. Someone, maybe the topic starter, misspelled it.

imo there are no reasons to prohibit foreign composers and songwriters from participating in any given country´selection process. Music is universal, one´s talent can not be restricted by geography. I know that very many disagree and that there are heated debates about it, but the funniest thing is that when comes the time to vote for their favorites, no one remebers his/her dislike for the foreigners. Or did anyone thought about it before voting for Believe (American composer), Work your magic (Armenian lyricist and Bulgarian composer) or My time (American lyricist) for example? And really this is just one example from the long list of "songs by foreigners". New blood is needed in a lot of countries and Malta is one of them. They´re stuck in the ballad land and cannot find a way out of it. There many other countries that should consider inviting the foreigners and I´d welcome that.

I hate how there are only foreign songwriters around now. Don't they have songwriters in Ukraine? :( It's very sad... and more Swedes again!

Two of the titles look very cliché and "Adrenalin" is not what I think of when I see Vasiliy... lol. Anyway, I hope they are good and I can't wait to hear them. At least he has a good voice.

Best of Luck Ukraine ;) (L)

Song titles are quite ordinary (I love you, I know.... gosh!). Adrenalin is the most exciting, I hope it's an uptempo song!

That can change on the big night. I've heard the 4000 potential songs are from all around the world. But we'll see which of them are chosen for the final.

Is there any national final without a swedish or scandinavion song this year? *lol*

Brandon Stone was behind 'Call me' in Georgia too, wasn't he? That's promising. Didn't know that he is based in Germany.
