esctoday.com poll results

The esctoday.com poll voters did not agree with the choice. Malcolm Lincoln finished sixth in the poll with 3.7% of the votes only. None of the poll top two Rolf Junior (32.4%) and Iiris Vesik (29.1%) had qualified for the second round.

esctoday.com national final awards 2010

The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year - you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh. You can vote for your favourite performance not to qualify in the Estonian national final here and for your favourite song not to qualify here.

In 2009, Estonia was represented by Urban Symphony, who finished third in the second semi final and sixth in the final with their song Rändajad. It was the first time since the introduction of the semi final stage in 2004 that the country made it to the final. In 2010, Estonia will compete in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 25th May.

Really happy that Malcolm Lincoln won, although I wouldn't have minded Lenna's Rapunzel winning either. I'm happy that we are finally slowly starting to rise above the hysterical winning-desire (actually this attitude was mocked during the Eesti Laul 2010 when between the songs there were other songs performed by comedians played. These other songs were part of a song contest:"I have to get to Eurovision or I'll die! 2010" ;)

In my eyes we are sending a really good song from a rising performer to a big contest, giving them a chance to perform in front of millions while showing the Europe what Estonian music scene is like - wasn't that the whole point of Eurovision in the beginning after all? Well definitely the original idea wasn't to create a strange artificial musical genre that no people listen to on daily basis..

And if you asked me wether I would be shocked rather if the song ended up being the last or the first - I definitely wouldn't believe my eyes if it didn't qualify. I would be surprised if it won, very surprised - but not shocked :) And this victory would actually make me proud - not like the one from 2001....

I quite liked this one as i've mostly listened to alot of different stuff. The song really grows on you and within a few days, i'm in 'love' with this song. It's kinda catchy and minimalistic. Hell, i'd laugh if this won. If this won, Eurovision would'nt change but yeah, it would be Woah.

Anyhoo, great song, not breaking through with the: "We need to win." criteria.

I hope Iiris Vesik (L) (L) (L) will paticipate next year, it will be so difficult to have song as good as Astronaut, but I believe in my Iiris! :D

At first I though that all the songs are bad. But now I like most of them. First two in my list were way better imo than the others though. But others were quite equal. Here's my list:

1. Lenna - Rapunzel . This was my favorite song. Although I think that the balloons were way out of place. But the vocals and coreography was great. And I liked that it was in Estonian.
2. Malcolm Lincoln - Siren. I didn't like this song at first. But the live version was so effective. I think it has a great tune.
3. Groundhog day - Teiste seest kõigile. It was a big surprise for me. It's a simple song, but I really liked it.
4. Rolf Juunior - Maagiline päev. I like the violins, song is okay. But the performance wasn't very good.
5. Disko 4000 - Ei usu. I definitely wouldn't send it to eurovision. But I think it's catchy and I enjoyed the performance.
6. Marten Kuningas - Oota mind veel. I don't like Marten. But the song itself is quite okay.
7. Iiris - Astronaut. I don't get the phenomen of this song. I don't like her voice and this song annoyes me. But I have to admit that I like it a bit more than I did at first.
8. 3 Pead - Poolel teel. I don't remember this song at the moment. But when I watched the performance it was quite okay.
9. Tiiu Kiik - the one and only - love. Weak performance. Song is haunting, but overall I didn't like it all.
10. Mimicry - New. Worst song of the bunch. Don't have anything else to say.

Ivan V,

Most/many of the songs sent to preselection jury were demos, not final versions.
Preselection jury and final jury were different.
And I think there is a pretty big difference if you are listening to a demo version of a song from CD or watching the live performance of the final version.

First of all I have to say that this wasn't my favorite. My favorite was Violina ft. Rolf Junior!!! But okay, Estonians decided!

Then, I was just wondering...
When estonian jury was deciding which 10 songs will compete in Eesti Laul 2010, they didn't choose Malcolm with his ''Siren''. He came up as a substitute...
Suddenly, in final of estonian NF jury gave maximum points to ''Siren'' !!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but how is that possible???

Anyway, ESTONIA, good luck in Oslo!! You'll need it...

Laila - i dont know what is going to happen next year , i know that Ott Lepland ( winner of popidol) promised to take part , but thats it . He didnt take part this year cause he was so busy after winning the show , though both of his songs are great. To be honest i would not like to see such performers as Rolf Junior at eesti laul - their time is over. neiter do i want it to be so alternative as Mimicry, but give them a chance- it was sure the wont win , but they were introduce to estonian people and i always like to see new bands.

Sure. It's always good with authentic music in different genres, but how about ETV actually having some diversity next year? I mean, it was just a genre-shift and no diversity. I liked Popidiot.

Classy! The only thing I don't like about it is that in the end it seems to be "interrupted", but other than that it's a great entry.

I don't like it at all. I can see it's a very divisive song, but not my cup of tea, sorry. I wanted Iiris or Tiiu instead. I like alternative, but this is just odd!

More than it's popularity i rate its quality and originality
an example - i would never be ashamed to be represented by this band http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=UMImGqEkKvo . I am happy that etv has decided to use eurovision as a place to promote "normal" music. as once said: the best songs are the one, that havent been made to be sent to eurovision. wish luck to "Siren" anyway

I've been trying to brainwash myself into liking this song because I like the performance and the guy, lol. I want to like it!

He is so cool to watch on stage, so strange in a good way. It reminds me a bit of Brainstorm. Is there something in the Baltic water? The guys seem to have some strangeness there, lol.

I'm really liking the guy and performance yes... interesting. The song will have to grow on me a bit more. Still, it's now on my #20.
