I think it's the perfect format for Germany. Because at the last few years, the interest in the ESC where so low in Germany.

So it's a chance for Germany to find one song and one artist where every German thinks it's great.

The last year Germans are often unsatisfied with the songs and artists.

So good luck Germany an see ESC next year in Berlin... lol

If their song gets a good placing this year then I hope they continue with this format for next year. It was actually quite entertaining to follow these shows.

I don't think it's fair that they will sing an individual song as well, unless they both have to perform it if one of them gets chosen. Will they have different arrangements on the songs they both sing?

Anyway, it is going to be a very exciting final this... :S I hope my Jennifer does very well with the songs.

Strange way of doing it for such a big country with thousands of experienced artists and then turn ESC into X-factor...
Dont like that, obviusly Esc has low status for german broadcast which also subtitle everything even we live in 2010.
Why cant they bring original German pop into the game.
But maybe it will work out for them .

A really fair way to choose the right song and the artist. :)

I hope Jennifer wins with pop rock song in English! :D

It sounds gripping. At least Germany has a choice of three songs. UK is going to have just the on song rammed down its throat with no chance for protest. At least it can't be called Je Ne Sais Pa Pourquoi because then there would be three of them.

they are just doing it for hype and viewing rates.

Yes, and an ESC hype is exactly what Germany needs!

I am really happy with what Germany has done this year! And I think this last step towards choosing a national winner is really clever! Both the finalist will have songs that both sings - but also there will be two songs that I hope is more suited for each one of them.
Good luck Germany! Hope to see you in top 10 - or even much higher!!!

so 4 songs will be performed...And then the favourite from each one will be performed again, and again voting and at last we will know both the singer and the song...Complicated but it can work!

For me the german format for selecting a song has made no sense since the very beginning... The focus should be made on selecting a good song instead of two popular singers...

Interesting. As much as I'm against the "Idol" concept to chose a participant for Eurovision, atleast this format seem quite good. There will be some for the public to chose, which makes it less of a typical "Idol" show where they just present one cheesy winning song in the end.

I really really hope for an entry in German, but I doubt we'll see that...

@Nicolai - Cologne would be more likely then Berlin

I like the way to choose the song and artist
specially to have one individual song, i hope the found a good song for Lena, something Björk like ;)

This format is so complicated..sometimes Germany doesn't take much interest in eurovision and other times they come up with the most confusing things.
