Romania: Ovi is the only author of the song

Ovi (Ovidiu Cernauteanu), the Romanian reprezentative of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest is the only composer of the song "playing with fire."

Although some of the Romanian media claimed that Ovi is not the only composer of the song "playing with fire, things are now getting clear as the Romanian HoD Ms. Marina Almasan explained what exactly happened.

"This song is registered in the Norwegian society of copyrights, TONO. Ovi and Mr. Eriksud agreed to share 50% each from the royalties of the song as compensation from the recording and production of the single that will be published," declared Ovi's record label.

According the written agreement between Ovi and his producer and the confirmation from Ovi's record label, Ovi seems to be the only author of the song. Marina Almasan, Romania HoD, declared that this is like a storm in a glass of water. "Actually, Mr. Eriksud is Ovi's producer, I contacted the Romanian society of copyrights and i was told that this is something common beetwen an author and his producer. Ovi is the only author of the song so we go on with our schedule," declared the Romanian HoD.

The subject is closed and now Paula Seling and Ovi are getting ready for their promotion tour. They are also about to shoot their video clip and a club remix of their Eurovision entry "Playing with fire".

I'm not taking any stands here or lobbying against or for anybody. I just checked and told you the facts.

One fact is that the song is registered by two authors. There is no such thing as 50% share for arrangement not to talk about "recording and production": that is what initially caught my eye in this news.
Of course, deals like this happen, but as said, it's up to the TVR to decide about the matter and whom to believe.

Petri Kaivanto vrote:
"Once more, please read my first post here: it's all about how TVR wants to interpret its own rules. The truth is that it's highly improbable that the song would be 100 % written by Ovi, so I understand the protests very well."

Come on - leave it. It has been very well proven that no rules has been broken. Ovi has, by the way, wrote all his song 100% by himself - so there is simply no reason for him to have done otherwise this time. But, please - go on moaning about this, the more people talk, the more fame LOL

"Well it certainly wasn't written by anyone who speaks much English so that rules out anyone Norwegian." - hilarious comment and I agree ;) I really like this song though and I'm so glad it's going ahead as planned. One of the best songs in the contest this year, without a doubt.

considering the fact that the document came from Toni (Save their lives trio) i don't know how could ovi have anything to do with this??
last year media claimed that Elena did playback at the Eurovision 2009 final... really!?
so the media is just media... Tony hoped this way they will represent Romania at eurovision but their plan ..failed! They just don't know how to lose!

I am glad this song won't be diqualified, it's one of the best and one of the few catchy songs of the year!

For those who wanted this entry to be out but have Norway, Poland or other kind of shit as their favourites, I only have to say: SUCK IT! :P

Sorry for the typos of the previous. But, essentially: the title of this news seems to be a lie until really proven otherwise.

Let me put the facts, as far as I know, now very straight:

1. According to the NordDoc -register, open to all the Nordic composers, authors and publishing companies, both Ovidiu Jacobsen and Simen Eriksrud are the composers and authors of this song (I took even screencap), the publishers are Warner/Chappell Music Norway and Daworks Publishing Ltd.

2. It's fairly improbable, yet possible there has been a mistake in registering the piece in the Norwegian Copyright Society Tono.

3. Whatever the truth might be: whether it's entirely a piece written by Ovi, in this matter there's either breach of the spirit of copyright laws and rules of Tono or breach of the Romanian ESC selection rules. I bet the authors prefer now the first, because otherwise the risk disqualification.

4. EBU and ESC reference group don't care about national rules, so it's useless to bother them about this matter in any way. It's up to the Romanian broadcaster to decide. The Romanian song must be chosen by the deadline.

5. I don't have any personal missions or preferences here, actually I think it's a good song, I'm very happy for Paula Seling who has tried so many times in the national selection and I would like to see Romania to win as soon as possible! I have good memories sharing the stage with many great artist in Golden Stag 2004!

Well, I don't like the song. 3/10 and 21st on my list. I am glad that they didn't get disqualified though. It would have been such a disappointment for Paula and Ovi. Good luck!
