The video premiered at 19:55 CET on public channel das Erste right before the main news programme. The video was later shown on private channels Pro7, N24, Sat1 and Kabel 1 at 20:13. Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Satellite is a record-breaking hit in Germany selling faster than. any other song. The single is currently still the most sold one; along with the song Love me it has sold as many in total as the other nine songs in the top ten combined. Satellite also is on top of the download charts in Austria and Switzerland at the moment, where she is the first German singer to have three songs in the download Top 100 at a time.
In 2009, Germany was represented by Alex Swings, Oscar Sings! with the song Miss kiss kiss bang. The duo finished 20th in the final with 35 points. As a big four country, Germany is directly qualified for the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 on 29th May.

But its growing and growing at me.
u cannot vote anymore from a foreign country if you dont have the foreign phone number to go with it. No travelling to vote.
nah, they gonna use prepaid-cards, purchased in the designated country. which is also cheaper, cause of bonus.

I am a bit afraid Germany is too hyped about this entry. It is all about Lena, and she is incredibly charming, but the song will stand on its own. Most people seem to expect we re winning with this? And it used to be that we didnt take Eurovision that seriously.. Now we think we re winning this? I hope Lena doesnt succumb to the pressure...
I don´t want o be a big 4, too. I don´t want there to be big 4s, every country should pay the same and every song should go through finals.
I agree with you!
Ok Andrew, I agree that Roger had his moments, and Texas Lighting was a big hit in Germany as well. But you have to admit, that there was very little confidence, that they would do well in ESC.
Mutzke was like a surprise even to me me, to hit top 10, and the no angles was a deserved loss (no passion in this one).
Nevertheless I am quite happy you like (and agree with) my translation of the "spiegel forum posting".
I might add, that the Big 4 status is only harming the german entries so far, and the longer I think about it, Germany also should go throu the semi finals, paying less and having more attention to their entries, if they go to the finals.
I just listened to the france entry, and so far my ranking is: 1. Belgium, 2. France 3. Germany (which I can't vote for)
Israel is a little overrated imho, since it is not even clear, which song they will send.
I agree on the Spiegel content, but i strongly disagree that hasn't been popular German entries before that moved the whole country to watch and vote: there were at least two Number One Smash hits from Max Mutzke and Texas Lightning, Top Ten Hits from Roger Cicero and No Angels, and not to forget Guildo Horn and Stefan Raab himself... so not so many entries that nobody in Germany cared about...
Well, well i registered to an ESC Forum ... what the HECK ?!?
This girl is making me crazy, and believe me, this has only happend once before in my over 30 years of existence.
I just want to underline, that germany is finally sending an artist a majority of germans is rooting for as well! I really asked myself: Why is that? I am well aware of her imperfections and amature singing techniques, which she always admitted to have, too.
So is not easy to grasp, what exactly makes her "special", but I found a post in a froum of the german newspaper "Spiegel" which nails it imho. I want to try and translate for you:
"Lena is the right candidate for Oslo. She is as a whole, with her enormous bandwdith of personality, which she also is able to live out artistically, just sensational. WIth her just 18 years and her uncomplicated manner, she slips thru as a brat. At the same time she has a impeccable taste, is elegant and ladylike. And despite of the fact she carries some dirty words on her tounge, she never seems cheap or bromidic, instead of that pleasant, sympathetic and refreshing.
On top of that there is her style of artistic performance! She is absorbing the song, mixes it with her innermost and then is releasing it to her environment with her whole body thru singing, eyes and expression. Her voice, even though is nice to listen to, is truly not perfect. But maybe that is just another jigsaw piece to something infinitely beautiful. The song is herself, and she is the song. More authenticity has rarely been, with all the corners and edges. Absolute perfection would probably be rather disturbing."
Most important for this forum maybe, that she achived what barely anyone has done before: Create a major interest for ESC in germany, even among the younger folks.
My plans for the weekend are to scout out the competition in ESC this year
YES YES YES - thats it exactly! Lena is becoming more famous. What an honour, just take a glance at the statistics on Youtube.

Heute ist Satellite das meistgesehene Musikvideo der Welt. (Youtube Daten)
Today, Satellite is the most watched video worldwide.

... Satellite von Lena Meyer-Landrut ist der wohl erste deutsche Eurovisionsbeitrag der beim indischen Internetpublikum auf merkliche Resonanz stösst. ...
It´s the first German entry who gets a lot response in India!
(I think India should take part in the ESC, we have so much countries by now, nobody really knows ... who cares - I want the results from Mumbai).
In England (Grossbritannien) stösst Satellite heute in die Top 20 der meistgesehene Musikvideos vor.
Even the UK, Spain and Italy seem to watch the video - it TOP 20 there, No. 6 in the Netherlands and Top Ten in Sweden ... Top 30 in France and Top 40 in Poland.
It´s even No. 42 in New Zealand ;-)) ... another possible country we should invite for the ESC, shouldn´t we?
Satellite ist entprechenden Youtube Daten zu folge das heute weltweit bestbewertete Musikvideo, das weltweit am meisten favorisierte und das weltweit am meisten diskutierte Video im Bereich Musik!
Lena worldwide, like a satellite ...
THIS GONNA WIN
12 POINTS FROM MACEDONIA
I am not sure, how she will perform and how Europe will get her ... let´s watch WOK-WM and Thomas Gottschalk. I mean, I love it, when she sings a litlle schräg, but it´s not so welcome everywhere ;-))))

Well, to reach 7th place wouldn't be a bad thing (she's No. 6 on my list right now). Anyway it's very hard to predict the winner this time because I cannot see one song that's really outstanding. Could be a close race between Turkey, Israel and Sweden and there are dark horses like Slovakia and Croatia. And let's not forget there are France and the new entry from Ukraine to enter the contest. The live performance in the final will be very important this time to make people vote who listen to the songs for the first time (I guess the overwhelming majority of the viewers).
yes, you cannot avoid neighbour/diaspora voting, and getting rid of the televote would sure result in a big loss of interest. but lets face it. if the germans really like their entry, they are very likely to "cheat" as well. i remember people organizing bus tours to holland, belgium, france, etc. and use their mobiles to vote for germany. and if there are enough german tourists on mallorca, we sure get 10 or 12 p from spain as well.
i always thought about, how to make the votes more representitive in total. like some years ago colin berry said that over 500.000 brits participated in the voting, in the same(?) year the estonian vote-presenter said 50.000 estonians took part. it's a bit odd to me, that 50k votes have the same impact as 500k votes. should the number of voters be taken into consideration? i dont know. probably a bit unfair for the smaller countries as well.
@ Bennyfriend
You'll never be able to avoid that points are given or not given due to reasons which have nothing to do with music. An example from Germany: Every year Turkey gets 12 points from Germany and I am quite sure this has nothing to do with the annual brilliance of their songs
(No offence meant, Turkey!)
This is not fair of course, but forgoing completely the televoting-system would lead to a great loss of interest in the ESC, I suppose...
Bookmakers (what a silly word) say, Lena could reach Position no. 7.
That´s not bad and I expect nothing more in this contest of brootherhood between neigbour-states, who just seperated some years ago, an came back as 8 countries with names, nobody has heard before, just to re-fall in love at the ESC and to say how much they love each other(s song).
If Lena won´t make the Top Ten, I want to send East-Germany and Bavarian entries, too ;-), just to get a few points from brotherhood-love.
I really hate the fact, that people don´t vote for songs, because of neighbourhood, religion or politics, especially the east-south, don´t they?
It´s a S O N G - Contest ...
Lena will be at >Wetten, dass ...< 27 - 03 - 2010 - how great is das denn? ;-)))
For the last six weeks I haven't done much more in my leisure time than to watch her videos an listen to her songs. She enchanted me!

Thanky you Joachim, for the KN-Interview. Klasse!
I love this song. I became obsessed the moment I heard it, I reproduce it again and again inside my mind. If she discovers some eastern roots and make the public know about it, she might win. She totally deserves it!
