He spoke of possible changes in the way the Swedish entry will be presented in the contest in Oslo. Christer also spoke about the possibility of changing the presentation of the votes in the Eurovision Song Contest to make the process more exciting for the viewers.  He explaining the Norwegian organiser are looking to do away with the draw for the announcement of the results and imputing the results into a computer.

@Louis
That sounds so silly.

@Shevek Urras
Exactly. With Christer's ways it will be as fake and stupid as MF is turning into. Too Americanized and too playback-friendly. Too fake and too much focus on unimportant things like gimmicks, choreographies and whatever else...

We don't need more dancers on stage, but I support letting bands participate with all their members if they are more than 6. I think there should only be a rule to how many DANCERS are allowed on stage. And that should be no more than 5...

@Andrew Berlin
I agree.

I wish the voting procedure would last longer like before where we actually got to see what votes the songs got. Now it is too fast and we don't get to follow who gets which points anymore. I want them to announce EVERY point from 1-12.

Only the countries who are in the final should be allowed to vote and that would probably help too and get rid of a lot of diaspora votes.
It doesn't matter if they separate the countries in the semis or have 50/50 juries when EVERYONE can vote in the final which means the usual countries WILL benefit from diaspora votes ANYWAY. Of course they won't change that, no... because the money is more important than fairness. :P

it is already a weak year :( they can't change the voting system over and over... ;) this is a complete suicide for ESC

@Andrew Berlin
If only the countries in the final could vote then the voting of diaspora/neighbours would strengthen even more in the semifinals. All the blocs will fight to push their neighbours in so each country will have more guaranteed points in the final. That and plus the fact that a lot of juries will be tempted to corruption and selling and buying points as an exchange is gonna kill the 50-50 before it even gets the chance to get tested. And basically we will end up having the same 25 countries with minor differences every year. Eventually? Smaller countries or countries with no friends/diaspora will abandon the contest

I personally miss the applause on the first points of a country that was awared yet. The one point that might be the only one for the whole night. The applause on all those precious and important smaller points. I do miss it, because it gave something special to ESC and almost EVERY country was namend and thus became a real part of the voting process. In our days you tend to the same three names the whole evening through and it's drop dead boring. I would really love to see the old voting procedure back on track. We simply have to take the time to award all the points. Furthermore I think that only the countries in the final should be allowed to vote. Most natives of the non finalists don't care anymore and only diaspora is interested. You would get rid of those votings as a sideeffect. EBU should not be afraid of dropping viewing figures in those countries as they do drop anyway..... 25 countries give 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 10 and douze points..........

I know it's a dream ;-(

I dont want the voting to change.

I have reservations over if the voting should start from the beginning or just keep it as the 15 mins at the end ? ?

And if they start changing the presentation of the votes ie: without going to spokespersons and countries they are better doing away with the contest because the voting format is eurovision !

Jerks? Why? Because we disagree with the man who singlehandedly made a mockery of MF?

Mon 22 Mar 2010 14:44:04

I agree with Björkman. In 2001, 2002 and especially in 2003 the voting was very exciting because there was a gap within 10p. between the winner and the second. Today you may see which country which is gonna win after the third country has voted. There will still be the same results so why are there any complaints about making the voting more exciting? Jerks.

I have tried to imagine what last year's voting would have been according to this new idea:

Bulgaria
Czech Republic
Turkey
Portugal
Romania
Albania
France
Azerbaijan
Croatia
FYR Macedonia
Moldova
Armenia
Switzerland
Finland
Ireland
Malta
Belgium
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Serbia
Greece
Montenegro
Cyprus
Slovakia
Andorra
UK
Iceland
Spain
Ukraine
Poland
Belarus
Russia
Slovenia
Germany
Hungary
Netherlands
Latvia
Lithuania
Estonia
Israel
Sweden
Denmark
Norway

Basically, I sorted the countries which gave less points to the top countries first, and the countries the countries that gave 12 points to Norway, 10 points to Iceland and 8 points to Azerbaijan last (Norway voting last anyway because of their televote failure).

What do you think about it? Do you think this is what awaits us?

I THINK YOU'VE TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS MARTIN lol

I get the impression that if this guy is left to his own devices we'll end up with full playback, 100 people on stage and every kind of conceivable gimmick available on request (i.e. Saade's shower scene).

I don't want more people on stage, it would just be used by some as a means to try and distract even more from a bad song. Eurovision is already too much of a circus.

I want Björkman out of Melodifestivalen...

We're always complaining about Belarus & Ukraine and their 'mafias'. Well, here in sweden we've got something similar.

The Swedish NF has become his own 'kingdom' where he chooses whom he wants to see in Melodifestivalen. I'm fed up of seeing his husband year after year being part of the choirs...

No more Christer Björkman... Bring some fresh into the Melodifestivalen!

You guys are unbelievable. Someone has an idea to make the voting more exciting and you reject it before you even know what it is? All countries will still get to vote, it's only a matter of adjusting the order of voting to make it as exciting as possible. This way maybe even Portugal could for once experience what it's like to be on top of the leader board. How can that be bad? In the end the winner will be the winner no matter which order the votes are presented in.

Yeah I think 8 persons on the stage will be AMAZING! For example I wanna all backing vocalists for Anna Bergendahl to go with her to Oslo, but they can't coz of 6 persons on the stage rule! They are all AMAZING and performance will loose a bit of its charm!!! :( :( :(

Christer Bjorkman should stop treating this show as his private little toy. I bet he's behind the ludicrous idea to start the voting in Oslo from the second the first song is played. And now this, another mad idea about messing with the voting.

I think they should put all the countries in pots like they do with the semi finals. That way it makes it a bit fairer and more unpredictable. Also they could change the voting system so countries can only vote for 5 countries instead of 10.
That way all the countries votes can be read out in full, for example, instead of 1 -7,8 and 12 we could have 2,4,6,8 and 12 points.

Voting as as it has now is ok, they tried in the past to define the order of the voting countries later than the draw, but they saw that it was difficult to arrange everything with satellite connections. So they realised that it's better to determine the voting order in march. To me s ok to show on the screen votes from 1 to 7 and just say the 8 - 10 and 12 pointers, otherwise it would be too long and boring
