Rehearsal day five
Moldova, Russia, Estonia rehearse again
Song one – Moldova
Olia Tira and the Sunstroke Project were the first to rehearse as they open the first semi-final. We got to see the actual stage clothes worn on the night, and Olia has now a very short silver dress with blue accents. The boys are in black and white. This dance number is perfect to kick off the first semi-final but numbers based on club music have struggled to do well at Eurovision.

The first rehearsal in Oslo:
Song two – Russia
Peter Nalitch and his friends sing this deeply ironic Russian love story in rather casual clothes and under fake wind and snowfall created on stage. They have been drawn the bad luck position 2, but it being Russia qualification is never far away with big ethnic Russian minorities in numerous countries in Europe.
First rehearsal in Oslo:
Song three – Estonia
Malcolm Lincoln sing their ubercool ethereal song Siren dressed in darks suits decorated with multicolour scarves. There is some hand movements and silly skipping from Lead singer Robin Juhkentahl and the camera is moving in circles around him. This song has certainly its devoted fans, but whether it is instant enough to get the votes needed to qualify remains to be seen.

I hope Belgium wins the contest this year. The song 'Me and My Guitar' of Tom Dice is so beautiful! http://www.youtube.c(...)/watch?v=GlRq8E_Teoc
Oh my, the Russian song couldn't be even worse! Those pajamas and scarves!!! It's simply dreadful, the worst Russian entry to date. Even worse than Kirkorov and Mumiy Troll together!
And there's no such thing as ex-Soviet political vote, it's just Russian diaspora just like the Turks or some other countries have. Like in my country there's a big Russian minority, that's why Estonia gives 12 points to Russia almost every year. I'm pretty sure no one in Eastern Europe actually votes for Russia because they were in the Soviet Union together.
@eurovision - aholic go belgium
That is so stupid. No one can possibly know what goes through other voter's minds and whether they like it or not. If Russia does well this year it will be because they deserve it and because it is a quality song that is underappreciated by ESC-fans mostly.
@Marko
I love it with or without snow.
Russia - if russia makes it to the final even with THIS then i will never ever doubt russian political influence again...as the only way for this to qualify is by getting the hardcore ex soviet politcial vote...
In fact I think the Russian and Belgian songs illustrate the polarity between the two sides in European culture. Both have a song which will be massively popular on home ground, but will have virtually no appeal whatsoever on the other side. Unfortunately for Belgium there are more countries on their opponent's side and I would not be surprised if Russia beats Belgium this year.
Moldova - oh the Barbara Dex award finds its rightful owner this year from the very first song...congrats Olia Tira !

Estonia is in my top 5 !
p.s. I don't mean the song Masters of the Universe - just that era - it was also the title of an album of theirs around that time
Estonia
ok folks this is very Pulp pre fame - if you go way back to their Masters of the Universe type era.
And as for the skipping and silly dancing - pure Jarvis.
Laila
It was for you (previous message)!
Dimitri
Wait, maybe somebody will have even worse outfit, tho it's really hard to beat singing tree!

I like snow and scarves in Russian performance!
Don't exclude that please!
Russian entry is no more my nightmare of 2010!
Moldova - a good opener; unlikely to qualify
Russia - a certain qualifier
Estonia - one of my faves; not sure how it will fair on the night, but fingers crossed!
Moldova seems OK and have improved. I still don't think they sing so very great and the green lights don't really suit the song I think. I always think yellow/orange/red when I hear this song.
Russia is wonderful yet again and have a great performance and song. I thought they were going to remove the snow?
Oh well, it's nice either way and I guess it suits because of the scarves, lol. I like their casual wear, it's so nice to see someone looking like a normal people in a real band and not some glamour metrosexuals who always look like they had a designer dress them.
I hope he will keep the long high note at the end on the next dress rehearsals and semi because it's my favourite part and it shows his great voice too. He needs points for that, lol.
Estonia is just growing on my list, their performance is so darn cool. Strange guy, funny dancing.
Olia Tira is our first candidate (if not winner - we'll see) of this year's Barbara Dex award.
No!I think this award belongs to Slovakia!
Vote for moldova!!! Vote for "Run away"!!!
thx

[i9Yeah Yeah.. tsk thanks for ignoring me here. Just act like I don't exist on this website and feel free to overlook any of my comments.
Ohh, sweetie... I can see you
My comments get ignored most of the time too, but it's okay to talk to myself cause then I get the answer I like anyway
Moldova :I don't know about this...They remind me a lot of Bulgaria 2008!They are in the first semi of course so they are a borderline qualifier..I hate Olia's Styling!
Russia :I like it.I'll promise Laila to vote for it if she votes for Anna(2 votes, not only for Marko)!
It's a possible but not a certain qualifier...
Estonia :I'm so gonna vote for this even if it fails to reach the final!I really like it!
I love the Estonia's song ! :X
Good luck !
I have not doubt that Russia with Peter Nalitch and his Musical Collective will pass through the final. They emerged from an "alternative" movement and have preferred to keep their "Lost and forgotten" farther from a commercial tune style and that is something that more and more people are understanding all over the world. Their beautiful melody is not an ironic song but a song about an "ironic situation" in life that many people have passed through. The challenge they have accepted is perhaps opening new ways inside ESC. MUCH SUCCESS - RUSSIA!
I've supported my country (Estonia) only when I think the song deserves it and this year I really don't (and it's not because I like "typical" ESC songs, because I don't). But it is to be expected since the NF got changed and the Estonian music scene seems to be basically dead. As for the Moldova song, it's essentially a house song (a genre of electronic/club music) so it's different for Eurovision and that's why I kind of like it, plus I usually listen to electronic music. But I really don't like this "new" house style that has been popular the last few years and the vocals are totally like an average Eurovision song. So I don't like it too much.
Moldova is the perfect opening song! I love the energy and high spirits which will kickstart the shows and they will be in the final for sure. Russia will probably qualify because it's Russia and I think this style of music has a broader appeal than many westerners or youngsters understand. I think Estonia is competing for last place, I'm afraid. As a support act for Radiohead they would have been excellent, but in Eurovision this is far too quirky.

As far as Russia's concerned - the first rehearsal or second, it's the same piece of... Nalich.
I've been hating this song ever since the Russin nationals - the only good thing about them - they don't do the "karaoke" thing as the rest of the participants - even intrumental thing is life.
Well, cheers Nalich - you were not my choice but what can we do about it now...
Good luck!
Moldova is not bad at all. They have an up-tempo song and it is a chance
I can't describe how bad Russia is .No final for them!
Estonia is interesting but this is too much for Eurovision
2nd round - 1st semi
Moldova - I think the vocals were worse than they were in the first round and I simply detest the stage presentation. As for the clothes, they're kitsch and, yes, trashy. It will qualify.
Russia - I love the song, the vocals were not pitch perfect today, I am glad that the fake snow got lost somewhere, the lighting is good and their casual look grew on me (I actually like those colours). It will probably pass (deservedly so), this being Russia.
Estonia - This is one of the three best songs around. Each time they perform it, it gets better. Simple, intelligent and sophisticated. Great clothes, btw. Will it pass? I haven't got a clue.
Olia Tira is our first candidate (if not winner - we'll see) of this year's Barbara Dex award.
