Rehearsal day eight

Ireland, Bulgaria, Cyprus rehearse again

The last day of open rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo is finally here. The last six countries from semi-final 2 and the Big 4 and also the host country Norway will have their second rehearsal today. The press conferences will finish early today as the delegations get ready for the official opening party by the Mayor of Oslo later tonight.

Song one – Ireland

Niamh Kavanagh had another run-through of her song after charming her fans at the Polish party last night. Her voice sounded a little bit tired today, but there is no reason to believe it would not be right on the night when it matters. The performance was the same classy ballad with the emphasis on Niamh’s smiling Irish eyes we saw in the first rehearsal with a professional vocal performance. Ireland should by all accounts be in the final for the first time since 2007.

Second rehearsal:

First rehearsal:

Song two – Bulgaria

One of the many songs sporting wings as stage props here is Bulgaria. The two female dancers wave the see-through wings about, and the two male dancers have now lost their shirts. Bulgaria has decided to sing half of the song in English. Miro has a very powerful voice and it is surrounded by slow songs in the draw so it might get noticed to get votes needed to qualify.

Second rehearsal:

First rehearsal:

Song three – Cyprus

The Cypriot effort is mostly powered by British artists this year. There are no tricks or gimmicks to this number, unless you count Jon Lilygreen’s taped up guitar he is always seen with. It is a confident enough performance and should secure a high televote from the UK and Ireland in this semi, but whether that will be enough to qualify will remain to be seen.

I consider thinking that Ireland and Niamh won't actually qualify the most absurd and non realistic scenario in this year's contest really...I mean actually thinking that greek trash for instance will qualify in first semi and Ireland won't...sounds simply rediculous !

an independent comment from non-esc fans here in BCn (both from Barcelona/outside), they expected Leonardo di Caprio to join in and ask Niamh to paint a picture of her, and Norwegian singer to get to paint a picture of Kate...before she survived the shipwreck along with Celine..well, yes, I kind of agree..

Peter Nalitch? Haha, he has kids already and I think he is even married, he is certainly far from. You don't se him parading around, looking smug in a white suit with silver ANGEL WINGS on the back, hahahahaha.

the countries from 2 semifinal who is going to pass to the final will be almost the same like every year. I thing that countries is going to pass: Ukraine, Turkey, Israel, Armenia, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Romania, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark. As a dark horse i have Georgia . Cyprus and Switzerland have good songs but as always they will stay out from final due to poor televoting results . Also i thing Denmark is in dangerous position to stay out from final, with a few words Denmark will be ESC 2010 favory who stay in semifinals. So Georgia will take Denmark's possition in 2 semifinal top 10 :) If Cyprus dont pass to the final ( who that is going to happen) i dont want to take 11 position, its better to take the last position. :S

Ireland : Somehow i feel it will qualify...It's either this or Ukraine...Will they both qualify?I doubt it...

Cyprus :It's simple and nice but i don't think it will reach the final...It's a pity that Cyprus will most likely be out of the final for yet another year. But who knows?

Bulgaria :Whatever they try to do with this song,it goes nowhere...

Well done Ireland, Niamh you are a true DIVA, you are gonna kick some ass in the semi finals, however i really dislike Bulgaria & Cyprus, dont know why, i wish all well, Especially my old home Cyprus :)

If Ireland can't qualify with a song of the quality of 'It's For You' then we might as well just give up and not bother entering again.

But I think Niamh will pull a cracking performance out of the bag on semi night and then find herself one of the favourites for the grand final on Saturday.

Miro is one of muy 4 favourite acts in ESC 10, one of the others is Cyprus, they are doing Ok, IMHO.
I like 'trashy goings on' - as someone said - in this case at least!
Good luck Miro, Good luck Jon.

@Juha Repo ( Moderator ) can you please stop to make predictions to the articles if soem songs is going to take votes or not , if theyr going to pass or not few days before semifinals ? For me This is a pure media bad propaganda for some songs ! Keep your predictions for you. FOR BULGARIA: Miro has a very powerful voice and it is surrounded by slow songs in the draw so it might get noticed to get votes needed to qualify. FOR IRELAND: Ireland should by all accounts be in the final for the first time since 2007. FOR CYPRUS : should secure a high televote from the UK and Ireland in this semi, but whether that will be enough to qualify will remain to be seen.

Cyprus has a very good and simple entry. I wish juries could save it! Second semifinal is tough!

Ireland has already a secure place in the final. Beautiful ballad and Niamh is a professional artist and very sweet!

Bulgaria is kitsch and a bit boring. No chances :( especially now with juries.

I seem to remember a lot of people saying that both Iceland and the UK were too old fashioned and boring last year and yet both ended up in the top 5. Ireland may appeal to a lot of the same voters and others. Also, I don't think we can really judge from these rehearsals, things may be very different when we have the proper accoustics and the different camera angles.

Cyprus is fine vocally but I don't think it has the impact needed to progress from the second semi, although it would be in my top 10 from that semi.

From this lot Ireland deserves to make the Final then go on to score well.. Niamh's vocal was not that good here but in the Eurovision Village her voice was stunning and alot of the fans who doubted her sucess changed their minds at that moment.. I believe that will be the Vocal we see at the Final
((Also why did Eurovision.TV use Ukraine's sound check, Azerbaijan's sound check and use one of Niamh's normal rehersals. In the sound check runthrough its all about the vocal and Niamh was amazing during those ones so why show one of the rehersals where she 'held back' ? -.- ))

I don't mind about the others, If Cyprus made the Final that would be nice. Its a nice wee song and it's sung well. But Miro.. I dislike the song it got boring fast and as another poster said, Why does this remind me of Dean... because it's just about as camp.. maybe even camper Dean was meant to dance around like a woman on stage it was funny, but Miro is taking this way too seriously and it looks wrong, Also get rid of the English verse it does not work

LOL! He looks like a gay Elvis in that costume. It's so cheesy and silly. :D I hope this will be too cheesy and bad to qualify. I don't like the song and not him either. Why does it remind me of Deen?

Ireland
An alright performance, quite boring and not sure I like how the background singers just stand there behind her looking seedy. :P She didn't sing as good in this rehearsal as I've heard her earlier, but OK.

Cyprus
Nice song, nice and simple performance and perhaps too simple so that it will be overlooked and forgotten in the semi. They sing good and I like seeing a band on stage even if they can't play live. He is kinda odd, but I like him. He gets very obviously sweaty towards the end of the performance, lol.

Sorry, that was not why intended. We all like different kind of music, but we can't expect that the Europe will share similar point of view with us. And this is perfect case with Irish entry.

There is more music out there if you search for it.

apart from the fact that this quite irrelevant and non realistic considering this topic(not to say offending from my point of view) it is also quite unfair for a singer like niamh kavanagh...

Three unlikely qualifiers. The Bulgarian song is one of the weakest in this year's competition. Cyprus would probably have qualified when they were in the other semi. And Ireland, well, I fear people won't vote for this. But NIamh is the only one of these three with a small chance of qualifying.

Pointless Existence and me and my guitar,

So let us meet after the second semi here. :)
No need to judge here the fans of the songs, I guess all of us we are considering the options of the possible outcomes.

I feel pretty sure about the Irish non-qualification (the same as you - for qualification), as every year there is this "unexpected" surprise for Uk & Irish entries that they do not qualify. There is more music out there if you search for it.

Croatia - This is my No.2 this year. I admit I like these 'Balkan ballads' a lot. The stage show is okay (not really my cup of tea).
Hopefully in the final and Top7.
