Azerbaijan get number one
Tough draw for favourite
Opening the Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is Safura’s latest and arguably biggest challenge on her entire Eurovision Song Contest path but it’s also fun. According to the results of the draw, the Azerbaijani artist will perform as the first act on the Big Night on 29th May, a much craved but also much feared spot for a great many Eurovision performers.
“Opening the Eurovision Final is challenging fun for me” says Safura who is prepared to do her best and produce a lasting impression on the audience “That’s is a huge responsibility” adds the 17-year-old artist.
Three opening songs have won the Eurovision Song Contest, the last time was way back in 1984 when Herrey's did it for Sweden with Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley. Azerbaijan competes for the third time in the Eurovision Song Contest, their best placing was third last year.

GO ROCK THE STAGE SAFURA! GOOO GOOO AZERBAIJAN ! AND FUCK YOU ALL JEALOUS PEOPLE HERE! SPECIALLY armenian LOOSER ASSHOLES! =D
It's not about bashing. Safura has a good song but she's not a very strong artist. Sure, she can sing, but on stage she looks like a bad actress... there's no soul, just choreography and weird expressions... I don't understand why people are so blind when it comes to her!
don't like it.. I'm sorry
If drip drop wins then the contest this year has not been about the songs.
whats with the safura /azerbaijan bashing? i loved her song and performance so i voted for it as i will in tonights final and guess what im not from the eastern block im a white man from the uk so to all you bashers get a life and leave safura/azerbaijan alone
Go Safura, kick all haters asses pls..
@Jeff Smith
If comments in the British yellow press are any indication, the Brits don't seem to be much impressed with the Armenian performance:

However the final decision will be made not just by sarcastic Britons, but by collective voting across Europe. So anything could happen.
To open the show is not that bad. Sertab had the 4th place when she won.
Good luck to Miss eurovision of this year..
You can watch videos of ALL the finalists and then rate them 1 to 10 here. Armenia is winning, Albania is second: http://www.huffingto(...)als-vi_n_593697.html
according to BET sites and media results TURKEY ,AZERBAIJAN, BELGIUM are VERY VERY POPULAR and one step more near to the finsh line than others

good luck all countries
Remember t.A.T.u in 2003?
They were practically rehearsing their acceptance speeches everyone (including the duo themselves) was so certain they would win.
They put many noses out of joint in Riga, the whole vibe around them was like a sideshow and then when they didn't win they blamed Ireland and the United Kingdom (who were the only countries they did not receive points from)
I'm glad! I hope everyone forgets her by the time magnificent Daniel comes on stage to steal the show!
I wished Safura to chose number 1 as her starting position and she did..
Now i wish she could be out of top-5.To ask for an out of top-10 position would sound unreal..
@Orki, Turkey in 2004 shows all countries maps exept Cyprus map and we know it from before , and we didnt make problem beacuse of 5 sec issue. at least Norway show your map, and for sure something goes rong on map grafics, Norway is not a kind of countrey who plays political games. Personal i didnt understand anything beacuse i dont know Azerbaijan map and i thing nobody understand nothing exept Azeri people who know theyr map, this is details. Personal i dont regognise Nakorno Karabah, i dont regognise any countrey who is not UN member. I hope Azerbaijan make same thing for Cyprus but i realy doubt. Anyway calm down , and with all that attacking from Azerbaijan to Norway your countrey shows a bad image to the rest europe
Best of Luck Safura
You will excel without a doubt
@Rita Belindarian
So Safura has a website? That's criminal. It might be a surprise for you, but every other Azerbaijani entrant had one, and so do most of entrants from other countries. Why Safura cannot have a website? And since when promotion is not allowed? Btw, as far as I know, a lot of it is done by volunteers, especially in facebook, etc. Internet is very popular in Azerbaijan.
As for bookies placing Azerbaijan 1st even before the song was selected, it was an obvious choice. Azerbaijan improved every year, debuted at 8th position, then came in 3rd next year, and it seemed quite natural that it would be aiming to be #1 this year. Unlike Armenia, for instance, which dropped to 10th position after finishing 4th a year before. I see nothing strange when someone predicts a win for a country which steadily improves its position in the contest.
«To the attention of organisers of «Eurovision 2010»!
I would like to inform you about a gross mistake that everyone had a «pleasure» to see, concerning Azerbaijan. Before the start of each song performance, the graphic map of the country is being shown.
Not only that Azerbaijani map quickly appears and disappears (unlike other countries, whos map stay on-screen for 5 seconds), but also the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is shown wrong. To be precise, Azerbaijan is shown without the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh and other neighbour adjacent territories also occupied by Armenia Republic. To make it clearer, please check the picture below:
http://photos.day.az(...)11565/AZ-MAP%202.jpg
Nagorno-Karabakh is an inalienable part of Azerbaijan which is testified by also UN General Assembly resolution. International community recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
Azerbaijani press is well aware of this, and you can read about it here - http://today.az/news(...)/politics/68887.html
Whether it is a technical mistake, or a political context, I urge you to take these mistakes into consideration, and make sure this does not happen during the finals of "Eurovision-2010".»
Thank you in advance
The song is okay and the girl is beautiful to watch, but she doesn't look natural on stage. Her performance lacks emotions and her moves seem to be calculated and programmed. The juries will notice that. I know Azerbaijan will do well in televoting due to massive diaspora in Europe but the juries are hard to crack...
Azerbaijan as a threat to the victory is now eliminated. The song will be as forgotten as the Spanish and Norwegian turkeys by the end of the night. As a beauty she's no Mona Lisa and with plenty of prettier girls coming after her, in particular Eva Rivas, she won't win the sexy vote either. But the comrade and diaspora votes will come ticking in loyally, so she'll likely achieve Azerbaijan's second best result so far. Which is fair enough. Start saving another two million for next year's entry, Ilham.

r not they right?
shame on norway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've just reviewed Safura's performance only for laughing on.
Especially the "Coral moment" at the apex of the stage, turning the eyes in blank while screaming like possessed and then shooooosss!!! running like a chicken without head while trying to make any possible note...OMG! And this mess has been organized by the choreographer of Beyoncé????
Beyoncé, darling, change your choreographer right now!!!
Omg !! Azeri media attack the Norgegian host tv for Azeri map
http://day.az/news/politics/211565.html
Its the only No 1 the will see!
@ Paschalis
but there was a reason why it got booed. it's rubbish. face the facts.
and the same goes to sweden's "this is my life". if russia, armenia or ukraine sent this it would fly through to the final.
Just imaging one thing, poor safura was nervous in a confortable starting 7th lucky place, how could it be in the 1st one, with the pressure of she has to do well to win the contest, and all the things she is carrying on in tomorrow's night show!
Now I'm feeling sorry for her, poor little girl, she should have sung a song like the Swedish one, I'm sure she would have done better in 2nd semi final and reaching the 1st place in the final, and not the 1st starting!
