Media predict 2010 winner

esctoday.com has asked accredited journalists who do they predict to win the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. Journalists from Mexico, Greece, Spain, United States, Germany, Serbia were among the many who answered the question. Juliana Pasha from Albania said it would be a very tight race with many good songs in the running, she said that Tirana would be more than happy to welcome Europe in case she wins.

Journalists predict that the winner will be among the following countries: Belgium, Israel, Germany, Albania and Azerbaijan. Now we have to wait and see if their prediction is correct, as the answer will be out tomorrow night, when Europe decides who will be the winner.Israel and Belgium seem to be battling for the first place.

You can watch the journalists predictions here:

@ israel rocks - Eva Rivas is actually half greek (father) and half armenian (mother) and not russian;

re: winner tonight - its very hard to predict this year, especially when strong songs such as Sweden's & Croatia's were eliminated, while others such as Russia's and Ukraine's made it through;
If I follow my insticts the winning song will be one of the following:
-Armenia (love it!!) - very melodic & will get votes from everyone
-Germany (love it!!) - great draw...already a hit, so provided she nails her 3 mins she could be the winner,
-Belgium (love it!!) - simple, yet totally hypnotic!! You totally get sucked into this song. I would love to see this song win!!,
-Turkey (great song) - really like this one! &
-Iceland (love it!!) - Now this song is great! Absolutely love it, but doesnt have the best draw. Too close to Albania and therefore I think they will cancel each other out - would really love to see this win!!
-Denmark - excellent draw - provided they nail the 3 mins performance they will be a serious contender
The dark horses are:
-Albania (pure pop and catchy!! love it!!),
-Cyprus (simple and addictive - I hope it scores well),
-Ireland (great song & one of my favourites!! - would love to see this one win - means Niamh becomes first woman to win twice),
-France - love the energetic beat!! it will wake up the audiences from all the ballads LOL; the arena and the young set will go off on this one...very modern and groovy beat - pure pop and energetic!. I can already see the televotes!! (I'm not sure about the juries though) - this will surprise many ESC fans
-Greece (must admit its very cheesy and also lots of fun - this will get the toes tapping at home and the arena jumping. I think this song will get votes from east and west - might not be the winner but will get quite a few votes)
Other songs
-Azerbaijan: opening the contest and mediocre performance will work against this entry; I will eb surprised if this wins
-Isreal: has great draw position, but an average performance. Its also surrounded by alot of great songs, so may lose some of its gloss; will nevertheless rank high (IMO this song is overrated - i seriously hope this is not teh winner)

"LOST AND FORGOTTEN" stands out from that crowded dough of circus acts, which have shifted music and lyrics off the focus of many participants and audience in Eurovision Song. This beautiful melody could become a classic similar to "SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES" (The Platters) or "GIRL" (The Beatles). All of them go about love, dissapointment and irony of life.
SUCCESS TO PETER NALITCH & FRIENDS IN THE FINAL!!!
My VOTES from HOLLAND to RUSSIA!

@Flowergirl
It doesn't matter, Israel is favorite to win from the beginning, and we will watch the performance today and judge it :-)

My biggest hope for tonight is that we have a convincing winner.

Daniel C
This is my wish too because i don't think i will actually love the winner so at least may it be someone that we will all acknowledge as a worthy winner!

This is the first year I didn't listen to/watch/read about any of the competitors before the show, and I'm surprised to read here Israel is considered one of the big favourites. I can understand that it is a good song, but it was so out of tune in the semi that I got really distracted and it didn't appeal to me at all.

And I didn't write anything bad, just that i won't watch his opening act! What can i do? :P :D
And at at that time it will be eviction from Farm reality show, so I will check who is evicted! :D :D

They didn't have normal OGAE club before this year when Miro participated, so you see audience there is more interested when popular singers participate!

w s and Toggie
Similar projects like Elitsa & Stoyan exist and many other interesting stuffs, but it's problem to make them interested in ESC coz:
1. Audience of ESC is small, and singers doesn't have big profit of participating in ESC
2. Previous results are bad, and nobody believe in good results..

Those are some problems, I think the best thing is to try with some talents from Got talent show!
Or to accept Filip Kirkorov as composer for some unknown singers...like Poli Genova last year with Kirkorov's song in NF which was popular even after that!

There are not that much eurovision songs that make it into my iPod and stay there, but "Voda" is one of those.

Marko

No serious German artist (except Texas Lightning and Roger Cicero, which were both wrong choices for an international audience because people thought: What the hell does that have to do with Germany?) has been interested to participate since the early 80s, and thus Stefan Raab came up with the USFO idea, which did miracles for ESC, at least nationally. Bulgaria knows that they can be top 5 with a great entry, so just try different methods, styles and artists over the next years, and there will be success again. I am sure of that! I liked Mariana Popova back in 2006 (although I preferred the Bulgarian version too), but I liked it in the way I liked Switzerland this year. I knew that it would fail on first listening, no matter how much I liked it personally. I liked Bulgaria in 2005 and 2008 too, but in the same way. The only time I thought 'WOW, this one will go far' was when I listened to 'Voda' for the first time in 2007.

WE COULD BE THE SAME
You could be the on in my dreams
You could be much more than you seem
Anything I’ve wanted in life
Do you understand what I mean?
I can see that this could be hate
I can love you more than they hate
Doesn”t matter who they will blame
We can beatthem at their own game
I can see it in your eyes
I doesn’t come as’a suprise
I’ve seen you dancing like a star
No matter how different we are
For all this time
I’ve been loving you
Don’t even know your name
For just one night
No matter what they say
And feel I’m turning the page
And I feel the world is a stage
I don’t think the drama will stop
I don’t think they’ll give up the rage
But I know the world could be great
I can love you more then they will blame
Doesn’t matter who they will blame
We can beat them at their own game

Toggie
But nobody like Elitsa & Stoyan is interested to take part, just some ordinary pop singers, with even more bland songs than Miro's!
Mariana Popova is always connected with ESC even these days, but do you think that she can do smth better than she already showed to Europe!

This is my opinion [59854]
Sat 29 May 2010 13:17:31

Well i wouldn't mind James Blunt style (Tom Dice) be in top 3, I love it, but that rohanna's cheap copy (Safura) no way, she deserve to be in the bottom of table since they didn't let her stay in semifinal
