"The economic situation not a secret"
Andorra: No plans for a 2011 participation
Although it is very early for any country to reveal their plans for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Germany, Andorra has already indicated that most likely they are not attending the event next year. The executive director of RTVA, Francesc Ruano, rules out an Andorran participation for the moment:
"The economic situation in general is not a secret and not something that is fixed in two or three months, it requires an evolution [...] At the moment we are beginning to work on the outlines of the budget for next year, but the work is in its initial stage". However, he warned, "I do not know if the budget situation will allow to reconsider the possibility of going to Eurovision". And he added that it will be assessed whether the competition is a priority.
According to Ruano, although fundamental economic reasons have weighed in the decision, also interest and support influence. If it becomes more intense, he admitted, "Andorra would most likely come back, so instead of investing in disappointment, we would invest in a dream". But he made it clear that "if there is not popular support, it will be much more difficult".

RTVA took a wise decision.
Till the voting system keeps being so unfair, Andorra should not come back.

I am glad to learn that Andorra's past participants urge the Andorran broadcaster to come back to ESC 2011. I would love to cheer for Andorra in Berlin next year!

@The_ErincH Palace
Shut up! This contest is open for all the countries, which are members of the EBU, so stop being stupid and respect other countries in this contest!
@ The ErincH
ESC is not place for politics. OK we don't like what's happening with Israel, but what if your country (Turkey, if your profile is true) would be barred to participate in ESC because of the Kurds that you government kill every year? It's easy to see the crimes of the others, but almost every country in Europe has their owns (including mine and yours).
That's not the way. ESC is for joining people through music and culture, so let wars and conflicts aside.
@Mateja G
Haha, you are so stupid. No matter how much you diss Russia's entry, you can't ignore the fact that the "trained musical ears" of the "professional" juries couldn't rescue Croatia's song because it was crap and it also didn't survive because they had no special neighbours in semi 2. So everything you said applies to the Croatian entry actually - it was not appealing enough to the "experts" either, so what does this say? The song sucked, that's what. Simple as that.
@The_Enrich etc.
Almost every country in the world can be held responsible for the death of people. Israel is in the contest since... almost forever, it's weird to have them out all of sudden.
Rebecca Swift
People who cause the death of people has no right to be in that contest
Why don't you want Israel in the contest? It's not a contest for only countries in Europe, but for countries that are members of the European Broadcasting Union. Israel is a member, so why shouldn't they get to compete?

Austria was also rumored to return now that Germany won.
Greece has confirmed their participation for 2011. (as if it was likely they would withdraw).
i hope CROATIA not participate in Berlin 2011.THANK YOU EUROPE.
350 miilion people watches, commercially it is a huge success, tv channels, tourism, advertising companies makes sooooo much money of it, who cares who won, who did not , the show will go on, the countries will not withdraw unless they have huge financial problems or too little to affrod,
but you can always withdraw as audince, who is keeping you, just leave, nobody will miss your bitter and twisted remarks, but we all know you can never win, you will spend all your time here whinging,
on behald of true ESC fans
Russian song is miles ahead of Croatian.
I think Germany proved that any country can win. So Andorra should take a look at that.
Just send an average song with a person that looks like someone from a mental asylum and there you go. And a hype might be handy. (I probably screwed up my 'wise' statement right now)
I think the Dutch juries f*ed Belgium somehow? Not sure though, but everyone I meet bashes Germany and praises Belgium.
@ Laila....
If anybody is the moron here, it would be the one trying to consider Russia's song to be in the same league of Croatia's. To a trained musical ear, Croatia simply outshines Russia in all aspects. What Croatia produced was art, what Russia produced was a joke. Plain and simple. The truth hurts, so I expect you to bite back at my comment quite harshly, however it will go unnoticed, so do not bother with a rebuttal.
By the way, Russia received a chunk of points from former USSR nations, so your comment about neighborly voting is obsolete, as Russia would not have qualified without their 'friends' as well.
Your comment is laughable, your opinion flawed, your response to fellow members rude, and a further explanation using statistics, reasoning, and logic would fall on deaf ears, as you seem to be incapable of such.
Nonetheless, congrats to you and Russia on an undeserving 11th place finish.
You are such morons. You are complaining about neighbour voting/block voting and diaspora yet you can't accept that Croatia didn't qualify WITHOUT their neighbours. Hellooooo?!?!?! That obviously means it wasn't a good song that was appreciated by other countries or juries enough.
And you can't possibly know the reason why people vote in the first place. You only know your opinion - not everybody elses. It is just as bad that Georgia, Ukraine and shitty Azerbaijan came so high with their crap songs, but for some reason you don't complain about THEM getting too much neighbour votes this year. Why?
Because you probably like them... or at least you don't dislike them as strongly as Russia's song. So this tells me you are all morons who complain simply because you don't personally like a song. Had you loved the song then you would have all applauded block voting and found excuses for it.
I hope they will manage to return in 2011. There is still time and hope I guess.
@Michael UK
Croatia was a bad song indeed and therefore it didn't surivive without their neighbours. Simple as.
Here is what I think will be the line up next year:
All current countries with these changes
Most likely to debut:
Liechtenstein
Qatar(?) there was talk about this... would be interesting, but these are the only two countries eligable to take part that haven't yet that have showed any interest.
Most likely to return:
Austria
Hungary
Montenegro
San Marino
Luxembourg (?)
Most likely to withdraw
Switzerland
Greece
Slovakia
Croatia
Poland
Least likely to return:
Andorra
Monaco
Italy
Czech Republic
@ mateja g
yes you are correct, croatia should feel very angry this year , they had a great song and deserved to do well. rubbish songs like ruusia and belarus reached the final undeservedly , the soviet block voting in the final was yet again a disgrace
I understand why Andorra is gradually getting out of the competion. However, I hope they'll return next year.
Some things are really unfair. For example, this year Iceland has sent a powerful voice and stayed in the bottom at the final while the crap song from Russia made through to the final.
If you don't play the lottery you will never win. The same goes for ESC. It is a lottery dependent on your own entry versus all the others. The only way to win (if that is what you want) is to keep playing.
I think the Croatian delegation should withdraw from the competition as well...the contest has never really brought forth very much interest in the general population, not to mention, this year has left a very very bitter taste in the mouths of many (myself included). Seeing undeserving songs place well in the final is not my cup of tea.
liechtenstein will join as long as EBU lets them in
I'm sure that RTVA would make a later attempt to participate in ESC 2011, because they wish it. It will depend on money.
ESC 2011 will be in Germany. Would Austria (ORF) going to consider to participate in a contest made by its brother country? If not, it could be a kind of offence: if Spain someday hosts ESC and Portugal (or even Andorra) doesn't participate, it would be considered nearly offensive.
Austria and Czech Republic should participate. I hope that Switzerland would not consider to withdraw and Liechtenstein would be more motivated to debut.
Such a shame. you will be missed Andorra...
I hope other countries will return, like Hungary and Austria.
