First time outside the final
Sweden: Viewing figures decrease
It is reported that 1,850,000 people in Sweden have watched Anna Bergendahl singing her song This is my life live in the second Semifinal, where Sweden took part. It was the first time that the swedish entry found itself outside the final after Anna finished in the 11th place, only 5 points behind the 10th place.
The grand final was watched by 1,694,000 people only, a bit more than a half of last year's final watchers: 3,120,000 people have watched Malena Ernman singing her song La voix live in Moscow.

I agree with anyone saying that Sweden should have gone through. I kinda see why they didn't make it to the final but still, there were a lot of songs that were much worse. 'This Is My Life' was actually one of the better ones. But I still think the singer's voice wasn't that apppealing to everyone. Personally, I'm still shocked that Sweden didn't get through. Anna definitely deserved to perform at least twice!
As for the viewing figures, it's perfectly normal that they will decrease when the country didn't make it to the final. It happens all the time in Belgium. This year was an exception because we finally made it, resulting in our viewing figures going up in the sky. But every other year before when our contestant failed to reach the final, we suffered the same fate with decreasing figures.
It had to happen once for sweden. I guess until now, they really believed they were invincible. Well, that's not the case anymore... I'm curious and can't wait to see how they will come back to the contest after this loss. Good luck Sweden!
Thanks for the correction! It was Finland. Sweden the year before. I got confused, thinking both were the same.
we love Lena!!!

@Eurovisionary:
That's wrong! Last year Sweden finished 5th in our semi. The jury didn't like La Voix and that's why we finished low in the final.
Remember, this is the third year in a row Sweden finished 11th in the semi. They only progressed to the final the previous two years because of the jury wildcard.
This is a good period for Sweden. No country should expect to make the final every year (unless you are Turkey).

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think Sweden will withdraw
Why Germany won: http://eurovisiontim(...)o-voted-for-germany/
well thats normal, many countries did the same, when they cant pass the SF, they choose not to watch the final.
Annas song was nice and deserved to be in the final.. Hope they will have better luck next year
This is something most countries have or will experience so it's just a good thing that also Sweden can miss a final when they got weak entries. That is only fair. "This is my life" was a weak song. Every country has its ups and downs.
I just hope this don't result in sending another schlager next year just because Denmark was successful with it and they weren't with something "new".
Then they will just get boring again. No, I hope instead they choose the right song next time.
I will never understand why people don't bother to watch the final just because their country is not in it. Are people that nationalistic? Regardless of what countries are in the final or not - it's FUN anyhow and I doubt there was anything better on TV to choose from.

No sweden will not withdraw !
Will Sweden withdraw?
What a snobbish country. They don't qualify so don't bother watching the final? Even if they do qualify, it's 3 minutes that Sweden is performing out of 3hrs of telecast. What do they traditionally do the remainder of the time - talk about the greatest of Sweden's entrant and prepare excuses in the event they lose?
Their problem is that they send "names" rather than songs. There was the dreadful Ark. Instead of Charoltte Pirelli it should have been Sanna's Empty Room. Last year Malena only went because of their broken voting system (the "50/50" is only 50/50 if the act gets 12pts from every single jury - impossible). This year should have been Timoteij instead of getting caught in emotion of a "faux" character and story.
In future, send some good old-fashioned Sweden melodies and Swedish acts that give a good Swedish presence.
This can be exciting only to Turks because with the help of their immigrants they are always in top 5 . I don't think anybody else finds this exciting .
Does anybody have the number to Carola? Only she can restore the Swedish Eurovision Pride
@Reddog Red
And btw, Slovakia was in the easier Semi, so that means that her song wasn't liked by public AND the juries that much, what can we do now? First, there was just televoting and every1 complained, now we have also jury-voting and every1 complains again! This is Eurovision, don't expect all your songs you liked to reach the Final! Some of my fave's couldn't also make it to the Final, so what? That's the spirit of Eurovision, unexpected surprises every year makes this contest exciting!
@Reddog Red
1. Look at the result at the Semifinal again, my country Turkey could even receive high points from countries, which never gave us some points be4!
2. Our spokesperson gave 10 to Germany, and the other countries, which could receive points from us have diaspora here, and 12 to Azerbaijan, that's normal, we are not the only 1'es doing that!
@Reddog Red
Very well said !
kenan
oh really ? croatia's and slovakia's not passing into final because of immigrant and block vote of some other countries made esc much more interesting to you ? well i have a question , does the immigrant voting for your own country each and every year makes esc more interesting to you ? or when that turkish woman telling the votes every year says the same names od same countries ecah year ??? guess what !? it does make esc VERY boring my friend
@Reddog Red
So what? Croatia and Slovakia were fave's be4 Eurovision, every1 expected them to reach the Final and take a good place in the there, but they couldn't reach, and that made the ESC much more interesting for me!
And by the way, I'm not Keman! :/
oh my goodness sweden, its time for the big solution: send helena paparizou next year!
keman.....
countries i am talking about are the central european countries like slovakia, poland , slovenia , croatia ..... there is no reason for them to participate . i know they send bad songs some time but this year croatia and slovakia were eliminated so unfairly . because of block and immigrant voting in esc they can't do anything . that's why people in countries other than azerbaijan , turkey , greece , armenia , georgia etc care less and less about esc
i think there will be less countries in competition next year
@Reddog Red
Sure? I think the number of countries will grow coz of the good placings of some Western-European countries ( examples: Germany, Belgium )
Hmmm I usually don't like Swedish entries, but this year Sweden was my fave, and the live performance was good.
i think there will be less countries in competition next year
I'm surprised as people I've talked to did watch the final
"The Swedes need to go back to good swedish schlager!!!!! look how well it did for Denmark this year!!!!!!!!!!!"
Charlotte, did you know that the Danish entry was rejected by the Melodifestivalen jury twice and by Danish MGP once
I did not like Swedish entry this year and therefore I don't think it should have qualified only because it represented Sweden .
As for viewing figures , I think they will be falling in countries like Sweden in the future . Countries from southeastern part of Eurovison network are taking over ESC . It's almost certain that Slovakia will not participate next year . Poland , Croatia , Latvia , Slovenia might follow .
I'm sorry that Sweden didn't qualify. It was a good song with a good performer that could have given Germany a run for her money. Personally I would have given the Irish placing to Sweden because Sweden would have goten more votes in the final than us. This would have made it a closer competition. Naturaly I wanted Ireland to win but I never really thaought they would so I would have been happy to give Sweden the pass through.
Sweden deserve automatic qualification on the basis of how much effort they put in to their national selection. At lot more honourable than buying your way in. Perhaps if the Swedish selection wasn't so competitive already Sweds wouldn't enter into other countries selections.
