A Skarr is born
Iceland: Eirikur Hauksson in new Scandinavian band
Skarr is a brand new Scandinavian rock band featuring Eirikur Hauksson as the lead vocalist and Swedish Fredrik Folkare (guitar), Mikael Rosengreen (keyboard) and Erik Martensson (bass guitar). Skarr members are known from Artch, Magic Pie, Ken Hensley's Live Fire, W.E.T., Eclipse, Token, Constancia, Unleashed and Scudeiro.
The band's debut CD has already been mixed and mastered and will be hopefully hitting record shops soon: "We have recorded and mixed 12 songs and if Lady Luck decides to knock on our doors, then we might have a CD on the market soon. I am actually very pleased with the result and I really hope we´ll be given the chance to expose ourselves in every corner of the world. But as you know,- to get there you will have to have a great share of luck ( as well as quality ). Miracles do happen though !!!", says Eirikur in his blog.
In his latest blog entry on his official page, Eirikur comments on this year's Eurovision Song Contest. Although Eric is very critical to the musical quality of the contest in general, he still goes out to admit that he is a big fan. To the amazement of his friends, as he puts it, he goes on to reveal his absolute favourite this year: "I have shocked many of my friends by exposing my favourite this year, and so I wanna shock you as well. GREECE - Yeah... That was the only song that made me smile and feel really happy. I think it has to do with the mixture of the national rythm and the language.", states Eirikur.
Although he did not sing in icelandic in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, "the composer's decision", he says, the artist supports the idea every country singing in their native language in the contest: " I think everyone should sing in their own language. Yeah, I know I didn´t myself in 2007, but that was the composer´s decision. It is so horrible to hear the artist from eastern Europe trying to sing in English and so many of their songs would sound so much better vice versa."
Eirikur seems to have a soft spot for 19 year old Anna Bergendahl from Sweden and seems quite concerned about the young artist. "Treat her fair - you hear me, Sweden?" he says as he believes that her failure to reach the final this year might have a negative effect on her yet-to-start career.
Eirikur is soon to realise one of his life's dreams and he cannot hide his excitement about it. On August 28th, he will be performing in a concert in Czech Republic with Ozzy Osbourne, the man he considers to be the biggest living rock legend.
Eirikur Hauksson represented Iceland in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest with Valentine lost placing 13th in the semi final.

song was good, but he had a hoarse voice!!.. it suits some singers, i cant say the same thing for him and his song. btw i wish him good luck in his new band!
Fanny LOL
hehehh
best song from iceland
I liked very much Valentine lost in Helsinki Arena. Beautiful song, so much feeling and very good voice. This song would have deserved a place in the finals.
He looks like a Klingon
The last good entry from Iceland. Andorra and Iceland were the BEST songs in '07.
His look scares me
Eiríkur will concert in our republic for the second time (maybe more...). We like them. Lordi, Eiríkur and other rock interprets from esc are in Czech popular, other not... Na ja, we are rock country!!! So, dear icelandic rock demon, welcome here again!!! :-)
I voted for Iceland in 2007 (and for Andorra) and I was so disappointed when they didn't qualify
I agree he was robbed big time but he that's been the case to so many entries oiver the last 7 years....
robbed, Robbed, ROBBED!!!! He actually should have been in the finals! Best Icelandic entry of the 00's, such power and emotion! No kidding! That semi final was really unfair, many great songs didn't pass through
.
kenan
lets realy hope so... i would love too see luxenbourg back again too
and italy as im half italian XD
@Andre JA (YES NOW I)
Don't worry, all the countries have still time to decide if they'll want to compete or not!
I'm sure Andorra will come back after the good results of Germany and Belgium!
they were one of my favourite in 2007..
kenan
yes!! ive heard that maybe austria lichenstein and hungary mayb can return this year!! sadly andorra wont
@Andre JA (YES NOW I)
I liked them, too, but for me, it's even better for me to see fave countries failing instead of reaching the Final as we all were sure be4 the Semi's, unexpected happenings - that's the spirit of Eurovision!
Let us see what next year will happen, and now I hope for more than 40 countries ( and I'm sure it'll be so )!
kenan
i hate that part!! they where my top 3!!
i loved croatia so much
and sweden and slovakia so unfair!! but yes 50/50 is way better!! and 2 semi even more!!
@Andre JA (YES NOW I)
Yep, the countries, which benefits from the 2 Semi's now are Moldova, Portugal and Israel.
But it's better now, really, I mean, in a Semifinal with more than 20 countries just 10 for the Final, less than the moiety!
And I also like the jury-decisions now, because we saw this year, that some fave's couldn't make it to the Final ( Slovakia, Croatia, Sweden, ... ), now it's much more exciting!
kenan
and also only the big4 and the winner are automatic qualifiers... now is more easy just look to portugal since the 2 semifinals started we are in the final lol and iceland too
@Andre JA (YES NOW I)
Yes, true! :/ But I'm happy that finally, we have 2 Semi's now, coz the possibility, that better songs can qualify is high!
kenan
lol ok different tastes i see lol anyway 2007 was a year full of ijustices... malta, cyprus, andorra, netherlands, iceland they deserved the final... but so many countries in a semifinal we coudnt expect more... isnt that right??
@Andre JA (YES NOW I)
Taste!
I still rate his best contributions to Eurovision as part of Icy and as part of Just For Fun
kenan
please dont say that lol i was thinking that you had a good taste of music lololol our entry in 2007 was so awfull!! sabrina is sweet ok lol but the song!! gosh it was awfull and painfull lololol
I liked Portugal's entry in 2007!
The best Portuguese entry IMO!
Valentine lost was one of my most favourite songs of 2007 and I was very disappointed that it didn't go to the final. That song could have been a hit if it came from a big rock band.
Good luck to Eric, he's a very good singer
marcus
we are just normal people that start talking about something in this case how unfair it was that iceland didnt go to final (also malta netherlands cyprus and andorra) but that we start talking about another totaly diferent thing... sorry if that hurts you
